The young gray-robed gatekeepers of the Kangen Family witnessed something extraordinary today.
They never expected to see the head butler Patrick in his current state; the appearance of the Fire Phoenix signaled that the butler was using his full strength.
At the same time, these young men felt even more intimidated by Kadi and Igor.
What kind of immense skill must these two possess to force their butler to such an extent!
Though the combat style of these two youths was a bit peculiar and seemed clumsy, they had managed to summon such a mighty humanoid flame.
And this humanoid flame was truly disgusting, resembling a greedy Corpse Eater, drooling and snarling.
"A Phoenix of Flames!" Kadi was stunned by the sight, and seeing the phoenix, a gleam of envy appeared in his eyes.
"Let's deal with the thing on you first!" Igor was somewhat overwhelmed; he was interested in the Fire Phoenix too, but couldn't let the blue flame on Kadi continue feeding energy to the ghoul-like figure in the air.
"I'm trying my best!" Kadi snapped out of it, then quickly focused his Spirit Power, trying to suppress the flames erupting from him.
"How come theirs looks so much more impressive than yours!" Igor couldn't help but comment, finding the ghoul-like figure unbearably ugly.
"That's not mine; I didn't awaken that thing!" Kadi retorted.
During their conversation, Patrick was already standing atop the Fire Phoenix, creating quite a stunning spectacle!
The Blue Ghoul paid no min, slowly advancing step by step, its goal to devour the Spirit Power on Patrick, and those flames of course.
Patrick waved his hand, and the nearby little firebirds chirpily dashed out; their attack was more of harassment, a form of probing.
The firebirds' assault posed little threat and all became food for the Corpse Eater. The blue flame extended its long arm, snatching the tiny birds one by one, devouring them.
"Truly ugly!" Kadi said in disgust, as flames continued to rise from his body.
"This creature perfectly exemplifies the power of Devouring!" Igor added, now hesitant to release his Spirit Power, for each release would fuel Kadi's flames further. Hence, he used Sword Qi to suppress the arrogant flame.
"I've managed to stop them from aiding that creature, although it was demanding, I've succeeded." Kadi told Igor.
This is the first step in control, proving Kadi was indeed striving.
"I hope you can completely subdue them; they don't seem to give in easily."
"Only stronger power can suppress them; even a little weakness gives them a chance to devour!" Kadi seemed to have found a way to counter the Devouring power.
Only now did Igor have a chance to watch Patrick's duel in the sky with the Devouring power.
Patrick stood atop the Fire Phoenix, forming seals with his fingers—one way Wizards release their spellcraft, some using incantations, others using seals.
Instantly, those little firebirds multiplied, transforming from their previous size into smaller mosquito-like flies, swirling densely in the air, looking quite grotesque.
"Seems I was wrong," Igor only then realized not every sorcery was visually appealing; some were indeed stomach-turning.
Thinking of it, Igor had just experienced the insect attack style back in Bistal, when Coban Kangen used it for group attacks against hidden Soul Devourers.
Was it possible the Kangen Family had a preference for these insects?
Before Igor could figure it out, the swarm of fiery mosquitoes swept towards the Corpse Eater.
The vast amount of tiny mosquitoes did have a certain advantage, especially in creating discomfort; waving one away didn't guard against another biting your leg...
Patrick's use of mosquito attacks aimed to exploit this, using harassment to execute a surprise attack. But these fiery mosquitoes weren't just illusory phantasms; they were real flames, controlling such a vast number of them was no easy task—only Flame Wizards of the Kangen Family could perform such intricate work.
Indeed, the effect was evident.
Those mosquitoes truly made the Corpse Eater scratch its head, unable to catch more than a few in one attempt, another arm was surrounded by flames, then legs, then body...
This was exactly like a human being disrupted by a swarm of mosquitoes.
Buzz, buzz, buzz...
Flame-sized insects continuously exploded on the Corpse Eater, appearing like burning fireworks.
The Corpse Eater's entire body finally collapsed; this wave of attacks seemed rather successful.
Patrick's hand seals didn't stop; he knew it wasn't over so soon. The blue flame wouldn't be defeated in its first confrontation.
The Devouring power's blue flame gradually shrank, its ghoul-like form disappeared, replaced by a spherical shape, which continued to tighten.
"Is it over?" At this moment, Kadi finally suppressed the blue flame that kept erupting, having a chance to admire the commanding Fire Phoenix.
No sooner had Kadi spoken did Igor respond, than a burst with a blinding light came from the blue flame sphere, even more dazzling than Patrick's prior light attack.
Once everyone's eyes adjusted to the light, that cluster of blue flame had taken the form of a Nine-headed Bug.
"What the heck, getting uglier!" Kadi couldn't help but blurt out; the Nine-headed Bug was evidently formed by the Devouring power's blue flame. At this moment, its nine heads relentlessly spewed flames, devouring and eliminating the countless mosquitoes.
"Compared to this thing, mosquitoes really look much better!" Igor couldn't help but joke.
"Looks like Devouring power never has anything pretty!" Kadi mused, recalling the Circus before, the ugly faces of the Soul Devourers he fought.
The Nine-headed Bug shifted its body and soon eradicated all the mosquito swarm.
Its hideous nine heads simultaneously looked at Patrick, clearly marking him as its target.
Patrick didn't panic; he expected this outcome. The opponent wouldn't relinquish its devouring goal so easily; Patrick was prepared.
Even though the Nine-headed Bug-shaped blue flame was stronger now, he wouldn't retreat, for he was the housekeeper of the Kangen Family; behind him stood the entire Kangen Family!
