Chapter 458: Fighting the Void King [1]SLASH!
The Void King swung his blade in a wide arc, releasing a crescent of darkness that flew toward the group with devastating speed, its edge cutting through the air and leaving a trail of crackling void energy in its wake.
Granite was the first to move, summoning a massive wall of granite stone that rose from the ground with a grinding sound.
The earth itself split to accommodate the barrier.
And even though it looked quite fragile, cracked all over the place from the sheer force of the impact, the wall actually managed to tank the void crescent, holding firm against the dark energy, though deep fissures ran across its surface.
At that moment, the rest of the Requiem Guild rushed forward to overwhelm the Void King.
Their weapons flashed as they engaged the massive beast, striking at his legs and torso with coordinated precision, while also fighting the horde of monsters that swarmed around them.
Before leaving, Leon instructed the girls quickly.
"Emilia, attack from afar, your magic has incredible power from a long range, though focus on your surroundings, Celeste, I don’t think there will be an opportunity to get close, sorry, and Violet, try to protect them by keeping the monsters off their backs!"
"Alright!" the girls said, eager to see what would happen.
"Also..." Leon turned to look at the Serpent King and Ice and Flame King, which the other two groups of the Requiem Guild were fighting in the distance, their battles raging fiercely with explosions of fire and ice, "If you can manage, try to attack the two other kings whenever you get a chance."
"Why?" Violet asked, her brow furrowed in confusion, "Its not like we have your talent, so it won’t really matter, right?"
"Yes," Leon confirmed, his eyes narrowing as he thought quickly, "But..."
He didn’t have the time to complete his sentence, as a pack of Void Wolves lunged at them from the side, their jaws snapping and their claws extended, their eyes glowing with hunger.
SLASH!
Leon cut the three of them in a single swipe of his sword, their bodies collapsing to the ground in a heap, even these beings unable to tank the attack, their forms dissolving into shadow.
"...Just do it," he said with a determined look as he lifted his staff, a green aura pulsing around him as he channeled his necromantic power, the energy flowing through his veins.
Undead Summoning!
From the ground around the group, sixty skeletons emerged from the earth, their bones rising through the soil with an eerie scraping sound.
All of them looking extremely powerful, their forms gleaming with an otherworldly light and their eyes burning with green fire.
After all, due to Leon’s massive Combat Power and the fact every skeleton inherited 80% of it, it meant each of them had around 11.5 million combat power, making them formidable allies that could hold their own against the monster horde.
This allowed them to fight almost every being and normal monsters from the Monster Tide except the servants, kings and requiem guild members.
He summoned 40 Undead Berserkers all around them in a defensive formation, their massive axes ready to strike, and 20 Undead Mages to support them from behind, their staffs crackling with magical energy as they prepared their spells.
The Undead Berserkers were indeed extremely slow and had no spirit, but that meant that their stats were focused on their Strength and Constitution, which was high enough to make it possible to fight even beings with a combat power much higher than them, trading speed for raw power and durability.
As for the Undead Mages, they were slow, had no strength, and a low constitution, meaning almost everything they had was in Spirit, though their spells were extremely basic, they could still provide valuable support by bombarding the enemy from a distance.
"Well, that should be good enough," Leon mumbled, surveying his undead army with satisfaction, their formation solid and ready.
And indeed, it proved to be right.
Bcause as a monster attempted to attack them from the side, one of the Undead Berserkers swung its massive axe and split the monster in half in one blow, its body falling to the ground in two pieces.
"Damn," Leon muttered, impressed by their effectiveness in holding the line.
And of course, since they were Leon’s skeletons, this meant every kill they made would trigger his talent, adding to his growing collection of loot and making the grind even more rewarding.
"My [Storage Space] is full," he spoke one last time, his voice carrying over the chaos of battle, "There will be probably be a lot of items around here, after a while, you’ll be able to pick them, so do it if you want, or leave them until I come back."
"Yes!"
And finally with that said, Leon finally turned his gaze back to the Void King, who was currently battling the ten Requiem Guild members, their attacks hammering against his defenses with relentless fury.
Granite used his massive stone walls to protect his companions from the Void Blade, raising barrier after barrier as the dark weapon sliced through them.
Each wall bought precious seconds for the others to regroup and reposition.
The rest of the Requiem Guild members on the other hand focused on the smaller monsters, cutting them down in waves.
Their blades and spells cleared a path through the horde that threatened to surround them.
Mortis summoned dark shields around the rest, the shimmering barriers absorbing blows that would have otherwise been fatal , then he launched a massive beam of darkness toward the Void King.
The energy struck the boss square in the chest with explosive force.
But the Void King simply summoned a massive shield of void energy, absorbing the attack without even flinching, his crimson eyes fixed on his opponents with cold amusement.
"The Void is the strongest Supreme Element," The Void King roared as he swung his blade, forcing another one of the Requiem Guild’s members to block the blow with his shield, the impact sending shockwaves through the air and driving the man back several steps, "You stand no chance against its power, you are merely mortals."
The Void King raised his free hand, and from the ground around them, chains of pure darkness erupted.
"What?"
"Oh shit!"
It took them off guard as the chains snaked through the air and wrapped around several of the Requiem Guild members, trapping them in place.
The chains tightened, their dark energy draining the strength from those caught in their grip, leaving them helpless and struggling to break free, their movements growing sluggish.
The Void King lifted his Void Blade high, ready to slice through every person that was caught, his eyes gleaming with triumph as he prepared to deliver the finishing blow.
