Only I Can Use Every Power System

Chapter 10: Cha.10 First Mission (4)

"You piece of shit... you really fucked up."

Doran dropped the corpse he was carrying before starting to whisper something.

A blue light slowly began covering his body.

The monster immediately sensed the danger coming from the Nahr’keth runes and rushed forward to close the distance.

Now that he was right beside Doran, he could simply kill him...

But Yasmin was there.

With her dagger, she managed to block the monster’s attack.

At that exact moment, Doran unleashed a beam of blue energy at the monster, leaving him stunned for a second before he dropped to one knee, coughing aggressively.

"What kind of rune did you use on me?"

Instead of answering, Doran slammed his massive shield into the monster’s face, breaking several teeth in the process.

Without giving him a chance to recover, Yasmin struck from behind, aiming for the back of his neck.

This time, the monster reacted in time and blocked the dagger with his hand.

Although his head remained attached to his body...

His right hand was now badly damaged.

He roared like a wild animal in pain and rage before attempting to escape.

But Yasmin’s figure suddenly faded into a cloud of dark fog that chased after the monster.

The second the fog touched him, Yasmin emerged from it and attacked again.

This time, the monster wasn’t prepared.

Her dagger sliced into the lower part of his right leg, right where the muscle connected to the foot.

The monster tried to counterattack.

But Yasmin disappeared back into the fog before reappearing once more, this time cutting his left leg.

He immediately collapsed.

He tried resisting one last time...

But Yasmin continued cutting him down until he finally died, leaving behind nothing but a twisted-looking corpse.

Yasmin turned back to see Doran.

He had already pulled Qasim out of the lake and was now carrying Levia.

She vanished into the fog once again before reappearing beside him.

"Look at her arm..."

"It’s like something is alive beneath her skin."

Levia’s poisoned arm had turned blue, almost green.

Veins bulged beneath her skin, and her face showed nothing but agony.

"You know what’s scary, Yasmin?"

"Whatever is inside her blood right now..."

"...is the exact same thing that reanimates the dead."

"I can feel it."

He then asked,

"Did you find anything on that man?"

"A cure... maybe?"

"Anything useful?"

Yasmin silently shook her head.

"Fuck..."

"Let’s head back to the village."

"Go pick up the boy."

"I’ll carry Levia."

"What about the monster’s corpse and the bear?"

"Forget about them."

"Right now, we need to make sure these two survive."

...

They returned to the village.

The first person they saw was Valen walking through the village gate as though he were heading somewhere.

Behind him was a tied-up woman.

The moment he spotted them, he immediately ran over.

"Did you fight the scientist?"

"If you mean that fat ugly monster, then yes."

"But how do you know?"

"While investigating the village, I managed to capture a spy."

He pointed toward the tied-up woman.

"She’s working with them."

"She told me what happened..."

"And what was about to happen."

Valen took a deep breath after speaking so quickly before looking at Levia and Qasim.

"How bad is it?"

"So far the boy looks fine."

"But Levia has been infected with whatever reanimates the corpses."

"You need to find a solution."

"I know."

"Don’t waste any more time."

"Let’s get back to the house and see what we can do."

...

Inside the house...

Qasim slowly opened his eyes before coughing a little and looking around.

Doran stood beside the door, acting as a guard.

Levia lay unconscious on a bed, her poisoned arm now almost completely green.

Yasmin sat beside her with her eyes closed, holding Levia’s hand while channeling a strange worm-like energy into her body.

Valen stood over Levia.

His eyes had turned completely white.

Both of his hands moved rapidly through the air as though weaving invisible threads.

"H-How is she?"

"Well..."

"I’m neither an alchemist nor a healer."

"So at the moment..."

"I’m losing the battle."

Valen answered calmly before blinking his eyes back to normal and turning toward Qasim.

"But..."

"If you can help..."

"I might still have a chance."

"You were poisoned too, right?"

"But you’re doing much better than her."

"I need to analyze your blood."

Feeling slightly better now, Qasim nodded.

He picked up a small knife beside him, made a small cut on his finger, and let some blood drip onto the blade before handing it to Valen.

Valen stared at the knife for a moment.

Then his eyes slowly turned white again.

But before fully activating whatever ability he was using...

He suddenly froze.

Sweat rolled down his forehead.

His eyes widened.

"Is everything okay?" Doran asked.

Valen quickly snapped out of his daze.

He forced a smile, took the blood sample, walked back to Levia, and activated his ability once again.

His hands moved through the air as though weaving an invisible tapestry.

Qasim quietly watched him before turning toward Yasmin.

She hadn’t moved at all.

"What is she doing?"

"She’s injecting her life energy into Levia."

Doran answered before lowering his head and clenching his fist.

"If only I had a healing rune..."

Several minutes passed.

Both Valen and Yasmin were now drenched in sweat.

They had clearly reached their limits.

"That’s enough."

"Thank you, Yasmin."

"You should go rest."

She silently nodded.

A few more minutes passed.

Finally...

Valen let out a long exhausted sigh before collapsing onto the floor.

Levia now looked much more stable.

Her arm was still in terrible condition...

But the pain had disappeared from her face.

More importantly...

The infection itself seemed to have stopped spreading.

"Ah... fuck this."

"If I earned one gold coin every time you idiots came close to dying..."

"I wouldn’t be rich but I’d definitely enough to retire."
