"These monsters... I might be wrong, but they are the same monsters that attacked me earlier."

The group entered the fight with the monsters. Under normal circumstances, this fight should have been easy because of the advantage in numbers the group had, but since most of Team Four were old now, the advantage wasn’t that big.

In the end, they managed to kill them all with minimal injuries, but they didn’t bother staying in this place any longer.

They searched for the next crystal, which fortunately was close by, and activated it, allowing them to move to the next chamber.

In the next chamber, the people who were stored were Valen and Levia, while Zyra and Yasmin looked much older and were almost reaching the limits of their lifespans.

Yasmin took Qasim’s hand and looked him in the eyes.

"I will be stored in the next chamber probably, but I want you to know that we are always with you."

"Since when do you talk like this? And why are you saying it like it’s your last will?"

Yasmin laughed lightly at his joke, but the boy was indeed more stressed now that even Yasmin was getting older while he still looked exactly the same.

What made it heavier was that even Aluna, the elf, was slowly showing signs of aging.

"Is it again because of my body? What even am I at this point?"

Qasim realized that he hadn’t thought much about his body despite all the weird things surrounding it.

From the moment he woke up surrounded by a bunch of strange machines that looked unfamiliar to him...

"Come to think about it, that place looked like an abandoned lab... Was the old Qasim another sick boy like me? Did he try to do something about his sickness but drop dead in the process?"

Qasim was more alert now. He wanted to know who the old Qasim was, but if he wanted to search for answers, he couldn’t go back to that place.

"I don’t even know where I woke up the first time..."

"Yeah, you annoying brat."

Selena’s voice interrupted his thoughts.

"Are you coming or what?" she asked him while pointing at the others, who had already found the next crystal.

"Oh, right... I need to take Levia’s place."

Qasim took the crystal and pushed his mana into it. He was surprised to find out that it didn’t take much mana to charge it.

As the group entered the next chamber, Yasmin and Zyra were stored while Aluna looked much older now, with white hair and a curved back.

"Well... I guess this is my limit."

She then looked at the other elves.

"In the next chamber, I need you to store me. Selena, come here for a second and raise your hand."

As Selena did so, a warm pink light appeared from Aluna’s hand and transferred to Selena’s hand.

"What’s this?" Qasim asked another elf in confusion.

"This is a technique to transfer your summoned spirits to another person. In Finna, we call this technique Inheritance. Lady Aluna is giving her spirit to Selena, so she will be the one storing her."

"I see..."

As Selena opened her eyes, she had a somewhat sad expression on her face.

"Oh, come on, little one. You know that I won’t die, thanks to you, right?"

"Yes, my lady... It’s just hard for me to see you like this."

"No, Selena, no... This is the fate of all of us. We are born weak, then we grow strong, then we go back to being weak. Only this time, we got wiser."

"Yes, my lady. I will not forget your words."

After finding the next crystal, Selena stored her master and continued with the rest to the next chamber.

Then to the next.

Then the next.

Slowly, the team that was once full of elves was reduced, one by one, leaving only an old Selena and Qasim, who looked completely unchanged.

"I was wondering, how come a human boy stays young even longer than an elf..." Selena suddenly said.

"Well, I guess even you don’t know the answer, right, little brat?"

"I’m sorry."

Qasim didn’t know what else to say. He was confused, but somewhat happy that he was that special. He had his own cheat, just like the main character of a novel.

And those thoughts made him feel even worse about himself.

"No, no... No need to apologize. Because of you, we still have a chance to advance."

"What do you mean? You are the last elf now, and we still haven’t found the turning point yet... All of them..."

"Do you remember when I said that you can’t learn Finna because you are a human? That’s because Finna requires a high spiritual connection to the spiritual world. You are a human boy, and I bet you have never been to the spiritual world, so I thought you couldn’t meet the minimum requirements to use Finna."

Selena took a heavy breath before continuing.

"Finna is basically building a connection between you and a spirit. That could take an unknown amount of time and vary according to the personalities of both you and the spirit. But once you have your spirit companion, it’s much easier to give it to someone else."

"But even that is dangerous and will put immense pressure on your soul, especially if you haven’t visited the spiritual world before..."

"Luckily for us, elves are born in the spiritual world. And thanks to Master Aluna’s talent, she managed to get this spirit with a good ability to store living and non-living things while only being a Mahik, which we call a first-grade spirit."

"In fact, if only my master hadn’t been cursed by a tyrant back in the spiritual world, she could have used a third-grade spirit and saved us in no time..."

Selena stopped again, thinking about something related to the past before continuing.

"What I want to achieve with this is that you have to take the risk and inherit the spirit from me, then continue our journey."

She turned to Qasim with a serious expression.

"This is the only way I see..."

"...Help me with it, then."

Selena smiled upon hearing Qasim’s response and asked him to come closer and raise his hands.

After he did so, a warm pink light transferred from her hands to his. But the second the light touched his hand, Qasim felt as if his soul was forcefully pulling the light toward itself.

Selena quickly noticed and pulled her hands away.

"This is weird... This kind of thing happens when the soul forcefully tries to consume the spirit..."

She looked at Qasim for a moment.

"I want you to control yourself. I know you aren’t a bad person, and this is another thing about yourself that even you don’t know yet, but..."

"Think of a peaceful place. A place where you feel comfortable. Dive into that feeling and forget your current situation."

Qasim tried as she asked. He thought about some places that came to mind: the Team Four base, Melissa’s house, and other places in this world that he had visited...

But nothing.

There was nothing that gave him the true peace he was searching for.

Qasim started to panic and looked at Selena for help, but he was stunned right after as he saw the old elf’s calm eyes.

They were the kind of eyes that said she believed in him.

He took a deep breath and thought again.

This time, it hit him.

A place where he had felt peace for the first time ever...

It was a small house.

Not in this world.

Instead, it was his home back on Earth, before he was transferred to the hospital room for the rest of his life.

It was a peaceful home.

A lovely home.

He imagined himself sitting at the dinner table while his dad served the food, his little brother sitting beside him and showing off his new toys.

Why did he end his life in the first place?

It was because of him and his sickness that the house wasn’t as happy as it used to be.

Despite his father’s fake smile, he knew that they were living in hell because of him.

Qasim remembered that house.

He remembered those peaceful moments.

And he remembered the reason he was reincarnated into this world.

He opened his eyes and found out that Selena had already finished the Inheritance process.

Qasim looked at his hand and found the small spirit floating happily above it.

He looked at Selena and nodded.

"I will do my absolute best."

"That’s more like it... brat."

He found the next crystal and charged it with his mana. Then he stored Selena before continuing along to the next chamber.
