Only I Can Use Every Power System

Chapter 69: Cha.69 Hour Of Joy (2)

The festival night in Cerys City was going great.

People were actually having fun, slowly forgetting about the war.

But then, something changed.

People suddenly started seeing others running through the streets while screaming.

Some watched in horror as people’s heads suddenly exploded right in front of them.

They tried to run.

But then another type of explosion happened.

This time, it wasn’t someone’s head.

It was a building.

The explosion tore through it, killing many people and sending debris flying across the streets.

The beautiful and amazing night was now filled with screams.

Laughter turned into crying and desperate pleas for help.

The clean streets were now filled with destruction and corpses.

"Agh! My leg! MY LEG! Someone help me!"

"Please! Someone help my husband! He’s being crushed to death!"

"Ahh! Mommy! Please move, Mommy! I’m afraid!"

"Stay away, you freak! Don’t you dare come clo—AGH!"

Soon enough, there were new faces at the festival.

On that night, all the prisons holding Beastkin were unlocked, allowing the worst criminals to freely roam the city streets.

Death.

Blood.

Bodies.

Screams.

They were everywhere.

And across the city, large pictures of the Fox Man had appeared, his ugly face staring from every poster and banner at whoever passed by.

...

"D-Don’t worry, dear. We’ll be safe here."

A mother and her daughter were hiding inside an old building.

The mother was trying to comfort her daughter, but in the next moment, her head exploded.

The little girl screamed in fear and pain.

Her scream attracted a nearby Beastkin.

"Hello there~"

As the Beastkin approached the little girl to kill her, a knife pierced through his heart from behind.

It was Yasmin.

She immediately took the little girl’s hand and handed her to Doran, who was already protecting five other people, both children and adults.

...

On the other side of the city, Valen and Levia were doing their best to locate all the potential locations of the bombs and stop them before they exploded.

Meanwhile, the police were taking action, guiding the survivors toward safe places.

Some Beastkin saw their efforts and laughed.

"Let’s face it. On a night like this? There is no place to hide."

"All shall be sacrifices for the savior."

...

Back at the main square, Qasim felt something touching him.

"Qasim... Qasim!... QASIM!"

"Huh?"

Kevin, tears filling his eyes, was gently pushing Qasim over and over while saying something.

The owl boy’s words weren’t clear because he was crying while talking, but Qasim managed to understand some of them.

"What am I doing?"

Qasim didn’t understand what his friend was saying at first.

Then he remembered.

He needed to find Melissa.

But the second he tried to move, he felt something in his hands.

He lowered his head.

And there she was.

She was in his hands.

She was cold.

Part of her skull was missing.

She wasn’t moving.

"Dead..."

Qasim remembered that his friend was dead.

Surprisingly, he didn’t cry.

Actually, he didn’t feel anything.

It was as if he had become completely numb.

He looked back at Kevin, who was already drowning in his tears.

Qasim couldn’t understand why he wasn’t crying like him.

"I... I need to tell her mother."

Suddenly, he got the idea.

He stood up and started walking.

Kevin was still there.

He tried to stop Qasim at first, but once their eyes met, the owl boy was stunned for a moment.

Then his expression grew even sadder.

In the end, the three children headed toward Melissa’s house.

...

Back with Valen and Levia, the two of them were having a hard time locating all the bombs.

"Those motherfuckers had a good amount of time to prepare these things... Fuck. They were surely getting ready while the city was busy with the festival preparations."

Valen commented while analyzing one of the bombs with Maker.

"Just the idea of them doing all of this while the city was busy with a happy event..."

Levia lowered her head.

She couldn’t believe such evil could exist.

"Well, the good news is that this is our city, and we will protect it..."

Valen’s eyes suddenly widened.

A wicked smile appeared on his face.

"Done..."

He looked at the bomb.

"With this, I can detect the bomb’s properties within a ten-meter radius. Let’s go! We need to move fast."

...

Meanwhile, Yasmin and Doran continued moving across the city, saving as many people as they could.

But it wasn’t enough.

They passed by more corpses than survivors.

They also had to fight some of the Beastkin while protecting the people they had saved.

"We need to move faster."

"You’re using the Light Dash you told me about... Are you okay?"

"Doesn’t matter if I’m okay. We need to keep moving."

Doran activated Light Dash again and continued forward.

Yasmin stopped for a second.

She looked at one of the pictures of the Fox Man hanging across the city.

His eyes stared ahead as if they could see through her soul.

It gave her a disgusting feeling.

She slashed the picture apart before quickly catching up with Doran.

...

"I need to see my daughter!"

A woman was screaming at a police officer, insisting that she wouldn’t leave her house until her daughter came back.

"She went to the festival with two of her friends... She will come back. So either you let me search for her, or I won’t leave my house!"

"Ma’am, I can’t let you go out there blindly searching for your daughter. It’s dangerous."

"Then I shall stay here until she comes back!"

"That’s also dangerous, ma’am. Please, just come with m—"

Suddenly, they heard something coming from the dark street.

The police officer immediately reached for his knife.

But in the next second, his arm was cut off.

He fell to the ground and screamed in pain.

Melissa’s mother watched in shock before looking ahead.

A Beastkin was emerging from the shadows.

"Haha! It’s been so long since I felt alive like this!"

"Oh, the savior! Oh, my savior! Please keep this night running forever!"

The Beastkin was a dog-man.

There was no weapon in his hand, making Melissa’s mother unable to understand how he had cut off the officer’s arm.

But then their eyes met.

He smiled at her.

A cold chill ran across her body as she watched the Beastkin slowly make his way toward her.

She quickly shut the door.

But in the next second, the door was torn apart by something she couldn’t understand.

She fell to the ground and closed her eyes.

"Melissa..."

She thought about her daughter and how difficult things must be outside.

"Please let her be safe..."

She had already accepted her fate.

Instead, she could only hope that her daughter was safe somewhere out there.

But then she heard something.

She opened her eyes.

There was a hole in the Beastkin’s chest.

The dog-man looked down at it in confusion before falling to the ground, dead.

Behind him, another person was slowly walking forward.

At first, Melissa’s mother was about to run and hide.

But then she looked closely at the person.

It was a white-haired boy she knew.

"Q-Qasim? Is that you? Thank God you’re okay!"

She immediately rushed toward him.

"Please tell me that Melissa is okay too! Please, tell me my daughter is safe!"

No matter how much she screamed, the boy didn’t answer.

Then she noticed that he was holding something in his hands.

There, in the darkness, was a child holding another child.

One had a dead expression on his face, as if life had lost all meaning.

The other was nothing but a dead corpse.
