Only I Can Use Every Power System

Chapter 70: Cha.70 Hour Of Joy (3)

The incident that happened in Cerys City, also known as the "Hour of Joy," left the whole kingdom in chaos.

Some said it was an attack from the Beastkin Kingdom intended to destabilize the kingdom and spread fear and unrest among its people, or perhaps it was a long-planned operation that had been successfully executed because of rats and spies within the kingdom.

Opinions, rumors, and arguments differed, but everyone agreed on one thing : This was by far the largest-scale incident in the kingdom’s modern history.

Around 50,000 people were present at the event, and according to the police roughly 90% of them either died or went missing. The most logical assumption was that those who went missing were also dead.

Some were crushed beneath the destroyed buildings. Some were killed by Beastkin and thrown into sewers. Some were blown apart by the explosions, while others were missing parts of their heads or entirely decapitated.

The survivors described it as a sudden death.

One moment, someone could be running beside you—perhaps a family member, a friend, or a lover—and the next, you would hear a wet crack as their head suddenly exploded from the inside out in a horrific manner.

The king assured the citizens that the Cerys Incident was now under control and that a massive investigation would be launched to locate and execute those responsible for the attack, while the kingdom remained actively engaged in the war.

...

05:30 AM

Back at Black Seed’s Team Four, the entire team had been locked up and under investigation for the past two days.

The officers from the Black Seed wanted to know how the terrorists had been able to prepare such an operation without Team Four noticing. Worse, they needed to determine whether Team Four itself had been involved, were they sent by the Beastkin kingdom too? and if so... That could affect the whole reputation of the Black Seed.

The person leading the investigation was Yorness, the leader of Team Three.

In the end, he cleared Team Four of all allegations.

"Tough week, huh? Our lovely genius?"

Yorness sat across from Valen in the investigation room.

"I guess even though you’re a genius, this kind of thing can still happen, huh?"

"Don’t worry. I read every file and personally led the investigation, so believe me when I say this but..."

Yorness locked eyes with Valen, showing nothing but cold fix expression.

"You and your team are clear, no one will ever question you again."

Yorness lowered his head to look at his paper while continuing talking.

"So bravo brat you again manage to esca—"

"Why?"

Valen suddenly asks while still locking eyes with Yorness as if he doesn’t see something good coming after his help.

"Huh?"

Yorness blinked in confusion.

"Why the fuck would someone like you help us? Help me? What’s your plan, Old fuck?"

The old man opened his mouth in shock.

"Plan? Oh, no, no, Valen. You got it wrong. If it were up to me, I would’ve throw you and your team to be in the army with a smile wide enough to add a few wrinkles to my face ."

Yorness leans further back into his chair as he slowly starts grinning more and more.

"It’s just that I take my work seriously, and I find you not guilty. You obviously didn’t collaborate with the terrorists, and you didn’t notice their movements beforehand because you had just returned from a very important mission, which I read about, by the way."

As he taps the files in his hands. He then looks through them and throws one on the table.

"What a crazy cave you were in, huh? Time travel and stuff."

Yorness then make some circle in the air before stopping and look at Valen with a straight face for couple of seconds before start laughing while tears forming at the side of his eyes.

"I bet if you could go back to that cave, you would go back in time to the old Team Four, huh? Or should I say... the traitors?"

In that moment, Valen’s face became cold, and a killing intent began to radiate from him as he looked at Yorness.

"Oww, so scary, Valen." He mockingly blocks his eyes with his hand.

Then he puts his hand back on the table with a serious expression.

"Let me ask you this. I am the person who cleared you now, and I was the person who found out that Nasun and the old Team Four were traitors."

"I am the same person, Valen. So, do you approve of my judgment now but reject it from back then?"

"Grow up, Valen. You’re not a child anymore."

"It’s time to move on and accept that the people you thought were heroes were secretly planning to take down our glorious king!"

Valen didn’t answer and simply sat quietly.

Yorness was a little annoyed by his reaction, but he continued smiling.

"Well, now let’s talk about this ’Savior’ problem."

...

08:20 AM

"Hey, you think the kid is okay?" Doran pointed at a white-haired boy sitting alone in the corner.

"I don’t know... How can we cheer him up?" Levia answered with a worried expression.

"How am I supposed to know? I don’t have kids."

"S-So do I, Doran! Don’t make it weird, please..."

"I can hear you two..."

Qasim turned his head and looked at them. His eyes were still cold and tired, but this time, there was a hint of anger in them.

"It’s been two days... two fucking days..."

"I missed her funeral..."

Doran and Levia fell silent.

Levia knew that his friend had fallen victim to that night. Doran knew how close Qasim had been to Melissa.

So the silence remained.

Yasmin was also there, looking at the boy with a pitiful expression.

Then they heard the door open.

Valen entered with a smile.

"Guess what, everyone? We’re free now!"

He looked at his team and found no reaction.

"Well, I guessed you wouldn’t be so happy, after what happened..."

"Is that all?" Doran asked.

"Ah, yes. The important part now... We have been selected to go with Teams Three and Two on a mission to get those disgusting Zookeepers."

"One of the officers from the Black Seed used his power while still in the battlefield to locate the place where they were hiding."

"We will go and—"

"They could have done that?"

Qasim suddenly asked.

"What, my boy?"

"You’re telling me that we have someone capable of finding the Savior’s location from the beginning, but he didn’t do so?!"

The boy’s anger finally exploded.

"How fucking useless is the Black Seed, huh? From the Academy incident, where no one helped us, to this, where we could have stopped a disaster from happening by simply taking my warnings seriously!"

"All of this happened because they didn’t listen to me... Why didn’t you force them to, Valen?!"

"You promised that you would handle this situation, that they would send experts to deal with it!"

"Aren’t there strong Third-Step people in this kingdom? Where are they? Where the fuck are they when we needed them the most?!"

Qasim breathed heavily.

"My boy..."

"No! Don’t interrupt me! I’m sick of this! I’m sick of pretending that everything is okay just because we have stronger people on our side!"

"Where the fuck are they?! Even the kin—"

At that moment, Valen quickly covered the boy’s mouth.

"My boy, you can blame the Black Seed as much as you want, and you can blame me as much as you please, but don’t talk about the king... Please. It’s for all of us..."

He looked into the boy’s boiling eyes and continued.

"The Royal Guards still haven’t returned from their secret mission outside the kingdom , while the strongest Black Seed officers are on the battlefield right now."

"We are alone, Qasim... This whole situation was planned specifically to leave us alone..."

The boy’s anger stopped for a moment, but he still couldn’t get that ugly expression off his face.

Valen then took a deep breath and looked at his team for a moment before announcing.

"Everyone, get ready. We’re meeting up with the others..."

...

09:50 AM

In a new, large room, several people were gathered.

Aurora and her team, Yorness and his team, and finally, Team Four.

"Team One has been sent to the battlefield... That’s better. I don’t like those filthy elves anyway."

Yorness commented while laughing, but he soon stopped when he noticed the cold aura in the room.

He looked around and found a white-haired boy sitting in the corner with his head tilted down.

"What’s wrong with your member there, Valen?"

"You really talk way too much, Yorness"

The one who spoke was Aurora.

Yorness looked at her with piqued interest.

"Hello there, shorty~"

Aurora rolls her eyes at his joke.

"Ugh, grow up already and stop with this childish behavior."

"Oh, at least I show others that I’m a grown-ass man, unlike you. Haha."

"Can we start with the plan already?" Valen interrupted the two of them and looked at the person sitting in the chair in front of them.

It was a woman from the Black Seed Officers.

"Yes... We were able to successfully locate where the Beastkin terrorists, also known as the Savior and his cult, previously known as the Zookeepers, are hiding."

"We will launch a massive attack against them within the next hour. We are preparing weapons and gathering people to help."

"Their location is a prison in the western section of the city. Luckily, we also managed to obtain a map of the inside of the prison. All of you will receive a copy, along with a communication crystal."

"Sounds lovely to me."

Yorness then looked at Valen with a smile before turning toward Levia, who flinched when he looked at her.

"Oh, the dumbass is here. It’s been a long time, right?"

Levia didn’t answer and simply kept hiding behind Doran.

....

10:40 AM

The three teams were inside a special carriage.

They slowly made their way toward the western section of the city, where the prison was slowly coming into view.

Today, they would hunt the fox.
