Chapter 190: Chapter
Wenzhe squeezed his eyes shut, his teeth gritted so hard his jaw ached as he tried to swallow down the wave of pure agony rolling through his chest.
"Get..." he wheezed through his teeth, his hands locked tightly around her wrists to keep her from shifting her weight again. "Get off me, you absolute lunatic... before you actually kill me."
Yueqing blinked down at him, her lower lip trembling as the alcohol completely broke down whatever little emotional filter she had left. Instead of getting off, she just leaned her weight further down into his lap, ignoring his grimace as she poked him accusingly in the chest with a wine-stained finger.
"I didn’t do it to betray you, you big idiot," Yueqing whined, her voice turning thick and slurred. "I didn’t want anything bad to happen to either of you! You’re my husband... and Xiao Chen is my son!"
Wenzhe froze. For a second, he thought the alcohol fumes coming off her breath were making him hallucinate. His brow furrowed into a deep, furious scowl as he stared up at her like she had completely lost her mind.
"Enough with this nonsense!" Wenzhe snapped, his voice tight with pain and absolute disbelief. "He is not your son, he is the Third Prince! How the hell could the Third Prince possibly be your son?!"
"I’m telling you he is my son! Why won’t you believe meeeee?!" Yueqing wailed, her eyes instantly welling up with big, theatrical tears as she started sniffling dramatically, kicking her legs slightly against the sides of the bed like a toddler throwing a tantrum. "He’s my son from my first mission! I gave birth to him, I raised him, I—!"
"Stop it! Shut up, stop talking right now!" Wenzhe hissed, his face flushing a furious shade of red from sheer embarrassment and frustration. "You are completely out of your mind, Yueqing! Stop shouting!"
At his sharp command, Yueqing abruptly stopped wailing. She blinked back her tears and stared down at him, her face smoothing out into an absurdly innocent, wide-eyed look. She tilted her head to the side, her fuzzy drunken brain suddenly deciding he looked very cute when he was yelling.
Taking advantage of her sudden, dazed quiet, Wenzhe let out a heavy, exhausted breath and used his upper body strength to shove himself upward. With a low groan of pain, he managed to muscle his way into a sitting position, leaving Yueqing stranded sitting right square between his legs, blinking stupidly at his chest.
Wenzhe sat there with his back resting against the headboard, chest heaving and sweat beading on his forehead from the sudden movement. His body was practically screaming at him in pain, but he refused to show weakness as he glared down at the tipsy menace planted squarely in his lap.
Yueqing blinked stupidly, her hands resting flat against his bare, scarred chest. She tilted her head the other way, swaying slightly like a bobblehead doll.
"You’re very grumpy tonight," Yueqing slurred, poking him right in the center of his chest again with a soft boop. "You know that? A grumpy, bleeding, giant jerk."
Wenzhe grabbed her wandering finger, his dark eyes flashing with a dangerous mix of fury and disbelief.
"If you poke me one more time," Wenzhe growled, his voice dropping into a low, threatening register, "I am going to throw you out the window, drunk or not."
Instead of looking scared, Yueqing’s eyes widened with pure fascination. She leaned in so close her nose almost brushed his chin, her boozy breath carrying the sweet scent of plum wine right across his face.
Wenzhe froze as her hands squished his cheeks, his dark eyes widening slightly in shock.
Yueqing leaned in even closer, her glassy, wine-soaked eyes locking onto his with absolute confidence. A goofy, sweet smile spread across her face.
"You won’t do it," Yueqing slurred happily, giving his cheeks a gentle squeeze. "Because you love me. You told me that yourself way back at the camp. You are just angry right now. You will stop being mad soon and start fussing over me like always."
Wenzhe froze. Her words hit him like a physical blow.
He remembered that night at the camp too well. He had confessed his love when he thought he was going to lose her forever. He had given her every piece of his heart, and she had rewarded him by leaking his plans and getting him tortured for two months.
"I was a fool," Wenzhe whispered, his voice shaking with fresh pain.
He grabbed her wrists and pulled her hands away from his face, glaring at her with cold, angry eyes. "A complete fool. Do not ever think you can take me for granted."
Yueqing blinked, her drunk brain struggling to understand the coldness in his voice. Her goofy smile vanished.
"Wenzhe..." she whined softly, tears spilling over her lashes as her mood crashed. "Are you still mad at me... really mad?"
Wenzhe looked away, jaw clenched tight. He refused to answer. He just held her wrists, wishing with everything in him that he did not still care about the woman who helped break him.

Yueqing leaned in suddenly, closing the small gap between them, and pressed her lips against his. It was a clumsy, wine-sweetened kiss, innocent in its drunken impulse.
She pulled back a second later, pouting heavily as she tilted her head in disappointment when he didn’t immediately respond. Figuring she was getting rejected again, she started to shift her weight to climb off his lap.
Before she could move an inch, Wenzhe’s hand shot out.
His fingers gripped the back of her neck, holding her fast, and he pulled her right back down. His lips crashed onto hers, taking total control.
