Chapter 192: Chapter

Morning light shone softly through the window. Su Yueqing opened her eyes and woke up.

She was completely naked under a warm blanket, wrapped safely inside Wenzhe’s arms. His strong arm was locked tight around her waist, holding her close against his chest.

Her body felt sore all over. Her face turned red as she remembered everything that happened last night. She tried to wiggle away just a little bit.

"Do not move," Wenzhe said in a deep, sleepy voice right above her ear. His arm pulled her even closer. "Go back to sleep."

"Let me go!" Yueqing snapped, swatting angrily at his arm. "Stop touching me,You are a terrible, annoying beast, and I am getting up right this second!"

Wenzhe didn’t even open his eyes. A lazy, smug grin spread across his face as he effortlessly caught her flailing hands and pinned them against the mattress.

"Is that so?" Wenzhe murmured, his morning-rough voice dripping with amusement. "Last night you were calling me your husband and begging me not to stop. Now I am a terrible beast?"

"I was drunk!" Yueqing hissed, her face turning bright red as she tried to kick her legs under the heavy blanket. "Drunk people make terrible life choices, and sleeping with you was the biggest mistake of the century! Let me go!"

"No," Wenzhe replied simply, tightening his grip and pulling her even closer so she couldn’t move an inch. "You made your choice, wife. Now stay here and keep me warm."

Yueqing swung her leg back and kicked him hard in the shin.

Wenzhe grunted, caught off guard just enough for his grip to loosen. That was all the chance she needed. She scrambled out from under the blanket, snatched her scattered clothes off the floor, and started throwing them on as fast as she could.

"Ow... damn it..." she hissed under her breath.

Every single step sent a sharp, agonizing ache straight through her lower body. Her butt and lower legs hurt so badly she could barely stand straight, her muscles trembling with soreness from the night before. Gritting her teeth through the pain, she managed to pull her robes shut, tied the belt in a frantic knot, and bolted out the door before he could catch her again.

Wenzhe propped himself up on one elbow and watched her run away, walking funny because of the pain. He clicked his tongue and shook his head with a soft smile.

He looked down at his own body. He had moved around a lot last night with his freshly stitched cuts, so he thought he would be in agony. But he did not hurt at all.

Last night was the best night of his entire life. The cold emptiness inside him was gone, and even his scars felt weightless.

Yueqing limped all the way back to her courtyard, walking with a stiff, awkward stride while muttering curses under her breath. "Damn that brute... my whole body feels like it was crushed by a cart..." she hissed, one hand clamped firmly over her aching lower back.

Just around the corner, Lanyin, Qianqian, and Gu Yue were walking together. They stopped dead in their tracks when they saw their sister-in-law shuffling past like a broken doll, holding her waist and grimacing with every step.

Qianqian blinked, tilting her head as she watched Yueqing slowly drag herself past them. "What is wrong with sister-in-law?" she whispered.

Gu Yue raised an eyebrow, a knowing little smirk playing on her lips. "She is coming from Wenzhe’s courtyard. Maybe they got into a fierce fight."

Lanyin snorted softly, crossing her arms. "Fight? With the way she is holding her waist and walking like that? That was definitely not a sword fight."

Ignoring the whispering girls, Yueqing finally dragged herself into her courtyard and shoved her door open.

There, sprawled flat out on the floor, was Nine still completely passed out cold.

A surge of pure rage flared up inside her. Yueqing marched over, snatched a hard feather pillow off the bed, and brought it down square on Nine’s head with a loud thwack!

"You stupid system!" she yelled, hitting him again as Nine groaned in his sleep. "Why the hell did you let me drink so much wine?! Because of your useless advice, I am in so much pain today, you piece of trash!"

Nine groaned, rolling his head away from the blows while rubbing his sleepy eyes. "Ow! Hey, stop! What is your problem?"

Yueqing raised the pillow for another strike, but the sudden twist made a sharp, fiery pain shoot through her lower back. She winced, screeching in agony as she dropped the pillow and clamped both hands over her waist.

"Ah... damn it!" she hissed through her teeth.

Nine blinked up at her, finally waking up as he looked at her stiff, awkward stance. "What happened to you? Why are you moving like your bones are broken?"

"Wenzhe happened, that is what!" Yueqing glared down at him, her face bright red with fury and embarrassment. "That bastard slept with me all night!"

Hearing that, Nine froze for a split second before bursting into loud, obnoxious laughter. He slapped the floor, pointing a finger right at her.

"Host..." Nine wheezed, wiping a tear from his eye. "You are acting like this is your very first time being intimate with someone. Why are you screaming like the sky is falling down?"

Yueqing pouted hard, crossing her arms over her chest as she glared down at him. "It is not my first time, but this body and the original Su Yueqing were virgins! So obviously it is going to hurt!"

Nine only laughed louder, sitting up and continuing to tease her without mercy. "Oh please. Think about the facts, host. This was Wenzhe’s very first time, and yet here you are acting like a complete pro who got wrecked."

"Who are you calling a pro?!" Yueqing shrieked, her face turning bright red as steam practically shot out of her ears.

"How should I remind you of your impressive body count?" Nine smirked, dodging backward.

That completely broke her last nerve. Yueqing let out an angry yell and lunged at him, grabbing a fistful of his hair and dragging him across the floor.

"Ow, ow, ow! Let go of my hair, you crazy woman!" Nine yelped. With a quick click of his fingers, he vanished in a flash of light and reappeared safely on the other side of the room, smoothing down his robes.

"Go take a bath and wash up," Nine called out quickly, holding his hands up in defense. "I will go find some herbal medicine to help with your backache before you actually murder me."

Nine smoothed down the front of his robes, leaning casually against the far wall while a cheeky, knowing grin spread across his face. He dodged out of arm’s reach just in case she decided to throw another shoe, but he couldn’t resist poking the bear one last time.

"Alright, alright, call a truce," Nine laughed, holding up his hands before resting his chin in his hand with a teasing sparkle in his eye. "Your anger is noted, your bruises are validated, and the brute is a menace. But let’s skip past the screaming for a second and talk about the real mystery here."

Yueqing glared at him, rubbing her sore waist as she narrowed her eyes. "What kind of stupid nonsense are you inventing now?"

"Not nonsense, just scientific curiosity," Nine purred, stepping just a little closer before dodging back. "Be honest with me, host. When that icy, scarred war god finally lost his cool and kept you trapped in his bed all night... did you enjoy it?"

Yueqing choked on her own spit, her face instantly exploding into a violent shade of crimson. "I—What?! Have you completely lost your mind?! I was a victim of circumstance! I was drugged, cornered, exhausted, and held hostage by a walking wall of muscle!"

"Oh, come on," Nine scoffed, rolling his eyes with a dramatic sigh. "You can lie to me, you can lie to yourself, but you cannot lie to the system logs. I watched your heart rate spike through the roof. I heard you whimpering his name like a love-struck kitten. And judging by the fact that you survived seven rounds of pure, unfiltered chaos before crawling back here walking like a crippled duck, I’d say your body had a wonderful time even if your stubborn pride is throwing a tantrum."

"I am going to rip your throat out!" Yueqing shrieked, lunging forward with a renewed burst of fury, but Nine just snapped his fingers again, dissolving into thin air before she could lay a finger on him.

"Go take your bath, hothead!" Nine’s disembodied voice echoed from the corner of the room, dripping with absolute amusement. "I’ll go get the pain relief ointment before you literally combust from embarrassment!"

He said as he ran for his life, he ran passed Lu yue that greeted him with a bombastic side eyes.
