Seraphina looked down at the dress Luke made for her, then said, "You made this for me?"
"Yes. You can’t exactly walk around naked. Here on Earth, it is seen as inappropriate," Luke replied.
Seraphina took a few seconds to process Luke’s words as she inspected the dress. It fit her just right and made her look presentable.
She moved her arms and watched the white fabric follow her movements. It was strange at first because never needed clothing before, so she didn’t understand why humans covered themselves when their bodies were their own.
There was nothing shameful about being created as one was.
It seemed like an unnecessary restriction born of mortal insecurity.
Nevertheless, she had to admit the dress was comfortable, and it gave her a new appearance that she didn’t dislike.
"As long as you made it for me, I shall treasure it, Master," Seraphina said. "What is the human way of showing gratitude?"
"Well, humans show gratitude in a few ways," Luke replied. He was happy that she was zealous to learn human relationships. "You can just say ’thank you,’ give a bow, do a handshake, or give someone a hug if you are really close to them."
Seraphina placed a hand on her lips, analyzing the options. In the end, she chose a hug because she was her master’s summon. They were as close as two beings could ever be.
Before Luke could blink, she hugged him around his waist. Her body was slushy and softer than a loaf of bread, and her skin smelled like vanilla and divinity. Luke didn’t want to disappoint a clueless being like her, so he hugged her back.
It didn’t take long before Seraphina occupied a part of his heart just like Amigo had.
Even though she was humanoid, she was still his summon, and the bond worked the same way.
But he remembered that he didn’t develop Amigo by spending time being this affectionate, so he tapped Seraphina on the head, and she pulled away.
"I’m glad you like the dress, but we have to make sure that it didn’t affect your abilities in any way," Luke said. "So, it’s time to test it out."
"Of course, Master. I am ready. Tell me what you wish me to do."
Her eyes were golden and bright with enthusiasm, ready to prove her worth.
*******
Luke and Seraphina came out to the courtyard of Principal Claris’s fortress.
The air was hot and stagnant, but the sky was bright, a fair trade.
The courtyard still had the training equipment. There were targets for testing attacks, dummies for strength, and several pillars for practicing movement. There were also chains, weapons, and blocks of different sizes.
But all this equipment was for training with a combat summon. Didn’t Seraphina say she wasn’t a War Angel?
Luke looked at her, only to find Seraphina smelling the flowers growing from a shrub nearby. Did that look like a War Angel?
She had a collar, armlets, and anklets. That was far from war armor.
"She doesn’t even have Wing Guards. Any being with wings needs Wing Guards in a fight. If Seraphina doesn’t have them, then she never needed them. And if she never needed them, she never fought."
Luke had to admit the truth: he had just gotten his second support summon in a row.
But he didn’t want to conclude that so quickly. Maybe Seraphina was just so powerful that she didn’t consider taking a hit a possibility.
The only way to know was to check her profile.
〖Species: Empyreal Angel (Mythic)〗
〖Type: Auxiliary〗
〖Rank: 3.1 | Potential: 9.9〗
〖Skills: Divine Imitation | Divine Hypnosis | Divine Imbuement〗
〖Description: An angel from an era when divine beings upheld the principles of the world. Empyreal Angels possess extraordinary spiritual abilities, allowing them to influence minds, souls, appearances, and other living beings in ways no other existence can.〗
"Woah."
So she wasn’t actually Support. She was Auxiliary.
But what’s the difference?
Luke knew what Support was. A Support summon was only there to help its master.
Amigo is a perfect example. He can’t fight at all, so he helps by providing intelligence and analysis.
The opposite are Combat summons. Their job is to fight the enemy.
But Auxiliary is in between these two categories. Auxiliary summons aren’t shaped for fighting, but they can still affect the battle in many ways. They could help allies, mess with enemies, affect objects, or even change the environment to suit their master.
So where did Seraphina fit into that?
"Yes, Master. You are right. I cannot help you by fighting your enemies myself, but I can help you win. I can protect you, strengthen you, affect your enemies, and use my abilities to make things easier for you. If you wish to fight, then I shall make sure you can fight better."
After Seraphina finished speaking, her chest could be seen heaving as she faced Luke with pride.
In her eyes, he was tall and handsome, and from the way he acted, he seemed to know what he was doing.
After being revived, Seraphina thought she would have no choice but to guide whoever her summoner was. She thought she would have to teach them everything from the beginning so both summoner and summon wouldn’t die before they could grow stronger.
But Luke seemed to know what he was doing, which allowed her to relax behind his leadership and enjoy this new life.
After a while, Seraphina noticed Luke hadn’t replied.
"Master, did I say something wrong in human relationships?"
"No, Seraphina," Luke answered, looking at her profile and her skills again. He remembered how she had answered his thoughts back in his office, and she could still do it now.
"You can read minds?"
"Of course I can, Master," Seraphina replied sincerely. "Reading the thoughts of others was useful in my time. It allowed me to understand their intentions before they spoke and know when someone was hiding something. It also made it easier to guide those who needed guidance.
But that is not all I can do."
Luke folded his arms and lifted a brow as he permitted her to show him her abilities.
He knew she wouldn’t disappoint. Reading minds is already broken on its own.
Seraphina faced the training dummies, and slowly, a spiritual force came out of her body and romanced the dummies.
Suddenly, the dummies began to move, trying to get up and stand on their feet. Those who didn’t have feet stood on their retord as they armed themselves with the weapons lying around.
In the next moment, they rushed at one another, weapons striking weapons as the dummies started fighting.
