With ten minutes of practice, Seraphina showed Luke what an Empyreal Angel was capable of.
After the dummies fight, he asked her to demonstrate other abilities, so Seraphina activated Divine Imitation, which lets her mimic any being at will.
Since Luke was the closest living thing, Seraphina shape-shifted to him, copying not only appearance but his voice, mannerisms, and even presence.
Luke was flabbergasted by such power. Was his Empyreal Angel omnipotent? If she could imitate him with 105% accuracy, did that mean she could copy his abilities?
Unfortunately, Seraphina could only impersonate the person and not their soul, unlike some other mimics like the Abomination Slime that could do both.
But on Seraphina’s part, she could impersonate for prolonged periods, copy their mannerisms perfectly, speak, and act at will. It wasn’t just brief imitation like the Abomination Slime does, which even made it more dangerous when you consider the implications.
"If Seraphina can pose as anyone and anything I encounter, then she’s so useful for things like infiltration and deception," Luke said, looking at his striking duplicate. "Haa haa... What if the Bureau arrests her in my stead and then I dismiss her into my soul space when she’s in their custody...?"
While Luke was speaking to himself, Seraphina transformed back to herself and cocked her head, looking into his face.
She didn’t understand what the Bureau was, but she understood infiltration and deception. Those were the purposes of her ability in the Yggrin Era, when deceiving those who threatened Order was sometimes necessary.
Seraphina asked, "What is the Bureau and why would you want them to arrest me instead of you?"
Luke was startled by her question, but realized he shouldn’t be because Seraphina was the one in the wrong. He frowned as he replied, "You’ve been reading my mind, haven’t you? Bad, Seraphina. Very bad."
"Me? Bad?" Seraphina echoed, her voice cracking. It felt like the whole world was crashing down on her after getting reprimanded by Luke. "Is... Is reading minds bad in human relationships?"
Luke palmed his face as tears gathered in Seraphina’s eyes. She was going to cry, and he knew it.
Seraphina had come from a time with different rules and expectations, and now Luke was the only person she had to tell her whether she was doing things right or wrong. If her only source of guidance suddenly called something she did bad, of course she would take it seriously.
But Amigo is also coming from the same era as Seraphina; why wasn’t he a crybaby like her? That’s why Luke never took Amigo’s intelligence for granted!
Amigo was so smart, he adapted immediately. He knew what to do, he knew how to act and how to relate to the world around him without needing everything explained.
But Seraphina would need some sort of honing because even with all her omnipotence, she was relatively dumb.
Seraphina continued hearing Luke’s thoughts about her incompetence, and it finally brought the cry out of her. She burst into tears in the courtyard and fell to her knees.
Seeing her in a sorry state softened Luke’s heart. He bent down and hugged her, letting her cry against his shoulder until she calmed down.
This wasn’t what he expected when the system told him he would revive legendary beasts, but Luke thought he could still do this, after all, it was all part of the evolution process.
He held Seraphina’s shoulders and wiped her eyes before kissing her on the forehead.
"Do not cry, Seraphina. I apologize for thinking that way," Luke said as she looked up at him. "But you also need to understand that our thoughts are private. Reading them without permission is an invasion of privacy. That’s why I got you clothes too. Your body is your privacy, so you shouldn’t show it to everyone. The same goes for thoughts. Only read someone’s mind when I ask you to, okay?"
Seraphina nodded with a lump in her throat before hugging Luke again while he tapped her back.
"Now, let us see how you fare in battle," Luke said. "The Academy Trials are still ongoing, but I need monster zones. Fortunately, the Academy gave us a way to discover more zones. I’ll try it out."

Luke stood before the management building, a broad stone structure with tall windows, thick pillars, and several floors rising above the academy grounds. It looked more official than the other buildings, with the academy crest carved above the main entrance and several wide steps leading up to the doors.
As he stood there, Luke could feel the eyes of the juniors around him.
He could almost guess what they were thinking.
Isn’t that Luke Kingsley?
Isn’t he the one who got first place yesterday?
Why is he here instead of fighting in the Trials?
Luke soaked it in as he entered, but the looks from the management workers were even more obvious. His ridiculous number of points on the leaderboard had made sure that his name was no longer unfamiliar around the academy.
He continued through the building, though something about the academy felt different.
It was hard to explain. Nothing looked obviously wrong, yet the place felt quieter than usual, as if something was missing.
Luke couldn’t put his finger on it, so he ignored the feeling and continued toward the Trials Office.
The Trials Office was more like a department of its own, with Confederacy personnel from the Confederacy Embassy handling the Trials in real time, watching the live tracking, assigning points, updating records, and dealing with whatever the students needed during the event.
The receptionist was busy working when Luke walked up to her, and she didn’t even look up.
"What are you here for?"
"I want monster zones and some hints for the Trial."
"You know that will cost you some of your points, right?"
"I’m aware."
She continued working. "You should still think about it. You’re spending points you’ve worked hard to earn, and the information could help you, or it could end up being useless."
"I know all that."
Luke wasn’t worried. With more than 450,000 points already in his name, what more could he really lose?
The receptionist didn’t know that, so she thought he was another ambitious student about to screw himself over. Why didn’t this student understand that the best students didn’t even bother coming here to spend their points?
"Name?"
"Luke."
"Luke what? I need your last name," the woman demanded irritably.
"Kingsley. Luke Kingsley," Luke answered.
