The receptionist stopped typing as Luke’s name echoed in her ears.

"Kingsley? You mean _the_ Luke Kingsley?" she thought as she forgot about what she was working on.

To be sure it was Luke Kingsley, she raised her head and looked at the boy standing before her table. Black hair, red eyes, a sharp jaw, and a face youthful and spirited, just like the name.

It was him, the same Luke Kingsley who had scored more than 450,000 points in a single day!

The woman’s eyes widened. Now she understood why he was so carefree about spending his points. 450,000 points was not something an average student could even imagine earning throughout the Trials, yet this boy had done it in one day.

Luke also stole the attention of other clerks around.

They knew his name because they were the system behind the Trials. They controlled the Tokens by sending out the notifications to all students. They also assigned points to students by following a points catalogue. They also had access to the live stream of the students, but most of the clerks were more concerned with the systematic part of their job.

But Luke forced them to watch his. They saw him clear a pentegate and a Sigma-Rank manifestation without a beast.

Now, he was here, asking for more monster zones.

The receptionist, whom Luke first approached, was surprisingly nervous. She couldn’t speak, so Luke asked for her attention.

"Are you sure you’re the person I’m supposed to talk to?"

"No–-I mean, yes. Yes, I am," the woman stammered.

Then she opened a drawer and gave Luke a form that begins his request.

"Please fill this out first," she said.

Luke took it, bent over the counter, and began writing down his details. He could feel the eyes around him the whole time, but Luke didn’t care anymore. He was no longer anxious to show anyone his strength.

But there was something strange about this office. These weren’t the usual looks he got. The clerks were more than just surprised; it felt like they knew something he did not.

Luke glanced around, but nobody said anything, so he continued filling out the form. When he finished, he handed it back to the receptionist, who checked the information for errors.

"You can go to the Comptroller’s Office now. They’ll calculate how many monster zones and hints you can receive based on the number of points you’re willing to spend."

"Alright. Thank you," Luke replied and walked to the next office, leaving the receptionist and the other clerks watching him go.

Luke entered the Comptroller’s Office after knocking on the door and getting an answer from inside.

It looked like a music studio with screens, communication devices, tracking equipment, and many machines attached to the room, all of them running on Aeon energy.

This was where the Confederacy monitored the Trial from another angle, keeping track of monster zones on the maps and other information.

Three personnel were inside: two women and a man. One of the women was mutated with six jaws, while the man was very tall and slender, as if he had been stretched.

"I’m here to get monster zones and hints for the Trial," Luke said, walking to their tables.

"Name?" the man asked.

"Luke Kingsley."

Using his name, they searched through the academy’s database, then used his School ID to probe the Trials’ database. Finally, Luke’s information was retrieved, and when they saw his tally of 450,000 points, they became curious.

"Four hundred and fifty thousand points. Where did you farm?" the man asked with no excitement in his voice, only a straight question, and Luke found it amusing.

"You don’t want to congratulate me first?"

"Congratulations don’t tell me where you got the points," the man replied. "Monster zones are more important than points. You’ll forget those points by your final year."

The Comptroller’s Office didn’t monitor the students’ fights because their job was only about monster zones, so they didn’t see Luke clear a pentegate without a beast or fight a Sigma-grade dungeon with his beast armor.

As far as they knew: Luke Kingsley got 450,000 points in one day.

Maybe he was lucky finding a dense zone, maybe there was a loophole, or maybe something unusual had happened. The last two would require their intervention; that’s why the man questioned Luke.

"If you want to know that badly, I was lucky in Skeleton Town," Luke said. "Isn’t Skeleton Town on your radar?"

"No. We only cover New Florence," the man replied before getting back to the matter at hand. "Now, how many points are you willing to spend? You should understand the system before making a choice."

He turned a screen to show Luke a roll of the point-spend system.

Location — 1,000 points

Basic Hint — 200 points

Composition — 1,200 points

Population Estimate — 1,500 points

Report — 500 points

"Location tells you where the monster zone is. A Hint gives you information on where you might find one or what you need to do to discover one. Composition tells you what kind of monsters you may face. Population Estimate gives you an idea of how many monsters are inside, while the Report tells you the tier of the zone and gives you an assessment of your chances."

He also added, "There are levels for each one. Higher levels cost more points, but the information is also better."

Luke scanned the list from top to bottom as he thought about it.

The prices were cheap to him, but they wouldn’t be cheap to an average student who was trying to remain on the leaderboard because every point spent here was a point removed from their Trial score. Hence, wasting even just a hundred points could mean losing positions for most students.

But Luke’s case was different because he had almost half a million points and nobody was close to him except Scarlett.

If she took the first position, he wasn’t worried because he was confident he could take it back, but that didn’t mean he should throw his points around carelessly.
