Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor
Chapter 115: Extra Chap— Kingsley Sisters [I]In the Kingsley Estate...
Cedric Kingsley made sure his children had tutors from a young age so they could grow faster and learn things they might not be taught in the academy, so a tutor was visiting the estate today to give Raven and Vivian another lesson.
The woman sat on the mat with her legs crossed, faced them, and then smiled, saying, "Hello, my children. I hope you have both been doing well in the academy."
Raven scoffed because she didn’t like being treated like a child, but Vivian sat upright and showed her enthusiasm to learn.
"Yes, Ma. Thank you for coming!" Vivian replied.
"Urghh," Raven groaned.
They were in a fancy room with embroidered furniture, eggshell pillars, and adorned curtains, but since they were about to cultivate, they had to stay on the floor and sit cross-legged on a mat.
The tutor’s name was Ruth, a Level 150 Greater Summoner of a Support beast. Her family is under the Kingsleys; hence, she was loyal to the Silver Order and was determined to give these children her best.
Beautiful children with the strongest beasts of their generation. Ruth admired Raven and Vivian, and prayed that her own daughters would grow to be as perfect as them.
She began the lesson by instructing them to empty their minds and enter a state of meditation, and after they had accomplished this, Ruth continued from where they had stopped in the last lesson.
Soul projection. Soul compression.
Every Kingsley could project and compress their soul before turning 21. Soul projection is the means of extending your consciousness beyond your body, while Soul compression is the advanced form, condensing that projection until it becomes stable.
Raven and Vivian had begun projecting their souls as early as sixteen. What’s left was to perfect it and learn how to compress it.
But it was easier said than done.
Because the farther you project your soul from the body, the harder it is to maintain control, not to talk of compressing it to achieve stability.
That was why Ruth had spent past lessons teaching Raven and Vivian how to perfect the projection first of all before taking on Soul Compression.
In the middle of cultivation, Raven’s token made a sound. She checked what it was about.
「Hunter Trial Day 2| Remaining Time: 00:00」
「NOTICE: Day 2 of the Hunter Trial has ended.」
Ruth noticed Raven’s distraction.
"Raven. Your soul just wavered."
"Sorry," Raven said and adjusted herself.
But Ruth opened her eyes again to see Raven still engrossed in the info from the token.
"Miss Raven! You are so close to excel the first chain of stability. Look at your sister. Vivian hasn’t allowed anything to distract her, and her soul projection is becoming more stable with every passing moment. You should do the same!"
"I did it! I finally achieved it!" Vivian cheered all of a sudden, opening her eyes. "And I leveled up too!"
Light emanated from her, which meant she was telling the truth.
Ruth accepted this news with a glad face, but she was disappointed in Raven.
On the other hand, Raven grumbled, but she wasn’t unhappy about Vivian’s progress; she was unhappy that she had fallen to #15 on the leaderboard after Day 2 ended.
"That’s enough for today. You both made good progress, so don’t force yourselves any longer," Ruth said, and the girls stopped cultivating.
********
After the lesson, Vivian asked Raven to join her outside for a game of table tennis to clear their minds.
Raven wanted to refuse since she wanted to sleep early and focus on fighting monsters tomorrow, but she was Vivian’s only sibling now, so she felt obligated to keep her company.
The identical sisters came out to a balcony where a tennis table was waiting for them. Vivian gripped one bat while Raven grabbed the other as they faced each other.
Vivian tossed the tennis ball up with a naughty smile, then she served.
The ball bounces once in her court and once in Raven’s before it met Raven’s bat and reversed its bounce.
The ball then kissed Vivian’s bat as she began springing from side to side like a frog, while Raven was the calmer one because she was better at the game.
Soon, Raven scored a point by faking a hit with her bat to make Vivian go the other way.
Vivian picked up the ball and continued, serving again. A fresh start, and she played better this time, but Raven was just too good, and she scored another point.
Soon, it was 0:3, then 0:5, and finally 0:7.
"Haa... haa..." Vivian panted as she picked up the ball again for the nth time and prepared to serve.
She wasn’t angry or frustrated about losing. She was happy to be spending time with her sister, and so she thought cheating a little would tease Raven.
Using Echo, Vivian influenced the tennis ball’s movement, making it follow her commands. If Raven hit it to the left, Vivian would make it curve right, and if Raven hit it to the right, she would make it bounce back to the opposite side.
Raven could only react to where the ball ended up, while Vivian already knew where it would go.
It was like playing against someone who could control the ball in midair.
Soon, the score changed from 0:7 to 9:7, and Raven couldn’t believe it.
Then she noticed Vivian was cheating!
"Arggfhhhh! You little brat! I knew you weren’t that good!"
"Bwahahaha!" Vivian laughed her head off as she collapsed onto the floor from laughter.
But Raven could play that game too.
"Alright, then," Raven said, holding up the ball, and then the ball started burning with hellish flames.
Vivian widened her eyes as her sister served her a meteor!
FWOOSH!
SHRRILLL!
The hell ball bounced on Raven’s side before burning through Vivian’s side of the table instead of bouncing. It was still a point nevertheless.
Score. 9:8.
Vivian opened her mouth and looked at the damage Raven had done. Meanwhile, Raven’s eyes were glowing red like Luke’s, with vapor rising from her body.
All this over a game of table tennis.
"You’re on!" Vivian yelled as she spread her wings and served the next ball.
