Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor
Chapter 114: Crossbreeding Effect On The Empyreal AngelAfter clearing the monster zone, Luke dismissed Seraphina and summoned her again when he got back to the fortress.
But before he returned to the academy, he checked his index and marked many zones for tomorrow.
He only treated today as a test for Seraphina, and he was satisfied with her.
Principal Claris’s fortress was still empty when Luke came back, and it was nearing sunset. A part of him told him something was wrong, but Luke didn’t want to jump to conclusions since Principal Claris usually worked overtime, and Camilia was following in her footsteps.
But who was he kidding? The bad feeling Luke felt was the hole in his stomach.
If they didn’t show up in ten minutes, he was going to starve to death.
After ten minutes, he used his phone to order some food.
"What would you like to order today?" the cashier asked from the line.
"I’ll have two double cheeseburgers, a large box of chicken nuggets, two orders of French fries, and two large chocolate milkshakes," Luke said.
"Wow, that is a big meal! Is that for two people? If it is for a couple, we have a special discount for lovers today!"
"Uhmm..."
Luke replayed the cashier’s words in his head, and it exposed just how selfish he was.
He wasn’t ordering for two; he was ordering for just himself even though Seraphina was around.
What was he thinking that a humanoid summon couldn’t eat and drink as humans do? Or that Seraphina wasn’t interested?
Luke sighed and asked the cashier to triple the quantities instead of double. Luckily, the couple’s discount still stayed on his bill when he confirmed that the food was for two.
"But are you two a couple, though? Please be honest with us," said the cashier.
"Trust me, we’re as close as two people could be," Luke replied and ended the call.
As the sky was getting dark, the lights in the fortress were getting brighter.
Luke inspected his token to check how many hours were left for the second day of the Trials. Two and a half hours. And there were about 60 students still participating, while others had chosen to rest early or did not even fight today at all.
Derek Cole got 95,000 points today. With two and a half hours left, he could make 100k+, taking him to a total of 200k+, which is very close to Luke’s 250,000 after he spent half his points on the Comprehensive Index.
Luke didn’t panic because he had the upper hand. The number of zones he had with him could take him close to a million points by the end of the week. Derek must be thinking he was catching up.
But the Trial wasn’t only about getting as many points as possible. There was also everything those points could give him, from better resources to a stronger status, which gives him the freedom to enjoy what he had earned.
And Seraphina was an example of what Luke would like to enjoy, because after the cashier asked if they were a couple, he couldn’t help but feel they were indeed. She was like a sister, a female alter ego of himself, and a spouse at the same time, because he was attracted to her, he loved her sincerely, and he also wanted her to be as good as him.
The girl in question was sitting at a table, reading the book that was left open.
The orange light of the reading lamp enhanced her beauty, and her sitting posture brought out her curves from the dress Luke made for her.
Luke placed one hand on the table and one hand on his waist and asked, "Do you understand what you’re reading?"
After all, what would an angel from the Yggrin Era get from human literature?
"A little," Seraphina replied, looking up. "It appears to concern two wolf lovers who are in a love-hate relationship, although the woman is currently pregnant by the alpha wolf, and she is more submissive to him than the male lead."
"???!"
Luke arrested the book out of Seraphina’s custody.
"So this is the kind of content Camilia consumes?" he thought incredulously!
Meanwhile, Seraphina was still sitting expectantly as if she had given him a normal explanation. "Is it wrong to read something like that among humans?" she asked ingenuously.
"No, it’s not wrong," Luke said, rubbing the back of his neck. He looked down at her, his protective instincts kicking in. "It’s just... I want you consuming the right things for your evolution. This stuff isn’t exactly helpful for growing stronger."
Luke wanted to explain more, but he changed his mind.
He realized that since Seraphina was humanoid, he should just let her do normal human things. There was no need to restrict her mind to just training and battle all the time.
So, he gave her back the novel. Seraphina was happy as she took it, and her smile forced Luke to smile too.
Soon, Luke’s order arrived, and it was time to eat.
When he saw the oil, bacon, bread, and other things humans called unhealthy, he wasn’t sure if it was safe for Seraphina to eat them, but he was wrong because she was immune to toxins, which meant she couldn’t get sick the way other summons/beasts do.
Seraphina also had a large appetite, as large as his own. She forced Luke to share the food 1.5:1.5 instead of 2:1 as he had planned.
To put it better, Seraphina was neither ever hungry nor ever full. She could eat as much as she wanted, or starve for as long as she wanted without any consequence, another strange thing about her divine body.
Now that they were free and relaxed, she listened to Luke and giggled at his jokes and his stories about life on Earth. As she laughed, Luke realized something riveting.
Ever since he crossbred Man Cloth into her armor, she had become less of an angel and more like a regular girl.
Could this be that crossbreeding also affects a summon/beast in an intrinsic way?
It made sense! A divine being shrouded in human clothing would become more human.
"So my actions can even reshape the character of the summon/beast," Luke thought. "It appears my talent is without limit."
