It was the corruption, a smudge on an exposed part of Luke’s skin, sizzling him like barbecue.
Corruption was a dangerous form of Aeon contamination that damaged living tissue through contact, causing pain, weakness, and eventually disrupting the body’s natural functions if enough of it entered the body. It didn’t mutate people, but prolonged exposure could leave them seriously injured both physically and mentally.
To battle this, Luke summoned the Olympian Serpent Bodyplate to fight with for the first time.
As previously revealed, the Olympian Serpent Bodyplate was an armor, as big as a cloak and as flexible as rubber, belonging to a Mythic beast, the Olympian Serpent.
And if there is one thing without question is that Luke’s armors are like a conduit of the powers of the very beasts that once wore them. Once he wears them himself, he gains those powers as if the beast in question channels its soul through him.
The Olympian Serpent, a beast of cunning and malice, is versed in every venom.
It learned to harness countless toxins millennium after millennium, developing an affinity for toxins no other being can. And at its pinnacle of Fortitude, it stood unrivaled among all other beings in the Yggrin Era, under the guise of a name that even makes dragons shiver.
In essence, Luke had found the solution to a problem he couldn’t solve for quite a while.
Toxins. This includes mutations like at the pentegate and corruption. Poisons and venoms are among them, too, which you could find among monsters like Slime Termites and Slime Centipedes.
By wearing the Olympian Serpent Bodyplate, Luke was immune to all of this because the Olympian Serpent was immune to everything in the first place.
"What a broken advantage," Luke said. "Now, I have no choice but to be more daring since I can never be poisoned, corrupted, nor mutated!"
The Bodyplate assembled and covered him within seconds, complementing the other armors, and for the first time—he looked complete.
The corruption tried to sizzle his skin, but it bounced away because the new bodyplate rejected it like oil to water.
Luke thought it was because the Bodyplate covered his entire body, leaving no skin for the corruption to reach. But that couldn’t be the reason because the corruption had affected his other armors before.
So, there was only one answer. The Olympian Serpent’s immunity was 1000% being passed on to him.
The arcade’s biggest hurdle was now useless in the wake of a Mythic armor. Luke’s Flame once again, a paradox and harbinger of the unnatural.
All that was left were the corrupted monsters, and yet they were little more than stragglers awaiting their end.
FWOOSH!
Luke summoned the Lightning Dragon Wing Guards, and the enormous armor erupted from his body with such force that the arcade could not contain it. Its wings expanded across the arcade, smashing through the ceiling and tearing apart the walls as sunlight finally entered the corrupted arcade. The sudden exposure made the monsters shriek, but their screams were drowned out by the thunderous crackle of electricity spreading through the armor.
KRAK-KOOM!
Lightning burst from the Dragon Wing Guards and spread across the arcade, running over the corrupted floor before jumping into every monster it could reach. The rats convulsed as electricity disemboweled their bodies, their claws scraping uselessly against the floor before they collapsed into Flame. The insects endured a mirror-image doom, their powerful forelimbs twitching as arcs of lightning passed between their bodies and burned through them.
FWOOSH!
Into the next phase, Luke impaled a Circuit Spider who tried to yank its metal limbs off the plaster wall because he sprinted into the arcade with his spear already extended. The spearhead leaked blue voltage that pulverized the construct, letting him yank the tip clear to pivot toward a second target.
He caved in the next spider’s thorax using his Hell Ape Gauntlet because he wanted to detonate a concussive shockwave through the drywall, which caught every nearby crawling monster in the blast.
He avoided a group of Pixel Bats flying right at his eyes under the broken lights by crouching down and stabbing his spear upward into the front bat. Zap sounds came out as lightning jumped from the tip into the other bats around it because they were all close together, making a bunch of them drop to the floor and shake before turning into Flame.
He stomped a pile of Neon Slimes using his Seven-Tusk Elephant Sabatons because the gross stuff crawled out from under the arcade machines to trap his feet. He hit his fist right into the floor, which sent lightning sliding across the tile to burn the slime until the puddle evaporated to nothing.
Finally was the boss monster of the zone, an Arcade Golem, surprisingly small for a golem, but it possessed crafty abilities that made it thrice as strong as other golems.
However, Luke didn’t let it show anything.
He used his fusion technique again just to see what other skills he could mix from more than one beast armor.
From the spirit of the Hell Ape, he ushered forth Purgatory Charge, while from the spirit of the Lightning Dragon, he invoked a similar skill, Stormbreaker Run.
Focused and concentrated, Luke fused these two together while his body trembled in the act of containing it. His arms shivered as he bent low in the face of the Arcade Golem, and his toes tingled with energy, being the final point of his meridian.
BOOOM!
Luke vanished from where he crouched with reddish-black lightning, because the Hell Ape influenced the Lightning Dragon, and the Lightning Dragon influenced the Hell Ape.
The ground shattered one layer down as the fused power of two Ancient-grade beasts erupted, sending cracks racing across the arcade floor.
The Arcade Golem raised both arms, its crafty abilities finally activating as countless glowing pixels gathered around its body to defend itself.
