Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor
Chapter 129: Scarlett’s Responsibilities [I]Scarlett’s SUV kept driving through the night and its traffic, then branched off the highway and charted a course to her home.
At the Trump estate, her convoy must navigate a maze before having access to the mansion.
After the maze, there are sky-high palm trees, then smaller residences for staff and allies, training grounds, fountains, private facilities, and too many security checkpoints.
As the car stopped in front of the mansion, the extravagance of the property spoke volumes.
Guards stood at attention, and servants bowed in unison as Scarlett opened her door and came out.
She was very tired, so she didn’t greet her subjects, only her butler—a woman named Constance.
"Welcome home, Lady Scarlett. I hope your journey was—"
"I’m really sleepy," Scarlett said, her voice trailing off. "Please prepare my milk bath. Make sure it’s nice and warm."
"Yes, my lady," Constance replied and looked at a maid. The maid nodded and walked away to do as Scarlett asked.
Scarlett’s milk bath helps calm her nerves after a long day. She also used it as a tool to preserve her beauty.
When walking up the stairwell, her butler stepped in her way again, looking worried.
"My lady, I apologize for interrupting," Constance said, "but your father asked that you see him in his study first before you retire for the night."
Scarlett stopped on the stairs. She thought her father was just being a worried parent, wanting to see with his own eyes that she made it back safe and uninjured. Not thinking much of it, she turned around and walked back down. With everything going wrong lately, she couldn’t blame him for being careful.
Scarlett went to her dad’s library.
She felt good about seeing him since they hadn’t seen each other in a long time.
Also, her father’s library was a place where she could be alone with him and talk like dad and daughter. It was where he did some business and reading, too, so Scarlett wasn’t surprised to find the door slightly open.
She stepped inside, thinking it would just be him, but someone else was there.
Mr. Trump was sitting at his desk as usual, and the second person in the room was standing behind his chair with her hand on his shoulder. It was Scarlett’s aunt, Brienne.
Brienne was the tallest in the family and most beautiful.
She was 6"3, and she either has a narcissistic frown or a narcissistic smile on her face at any given point in time.
Her eyes are dark green, and her hair was like gold in liquid form.
Brienne and Arnold had that same golden-blonde hair, what lore calls the genetic symbol for the Golden Order, and the highest bloodline authority in the country. Meanwhile, Scarlett had red hair, so she was "second rank" of the bloodline.
This is why Brienne got more respect and had more power than Scarlett, who is supposed to have more power than her.
"Welcome back, Scarlett," Arnold said with his arms up. "Come around here and give your father a hug."
Scarlett walked to and around the desk, then gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek.
"Aren’t you going to give your aunt a hug too?" Mr. Trump asked, looking at his sister.
Scarlett took a step back, kept her arms down, and did not make an effort to approach Brienne. She was grumpy and didn’t hide it.
Meanwhile, Brienne crossed her arms and smirked because she was aware her niece disliked her being there.
When his family didn’t do anything, Arnold shrugged and asked Scarlett while he leaned back in his chair, "Where have you been for the past two days?"
The question wasn’t shocking. Scarlett should know her father would ask it.
That is why she had a lie to cover her tracks, because she couldn’t just tell him the truth about hunting the Black Sun Origin Realm in another country.
"I traveled to Country Three for a charity trip," Scarlett said. "I spent the time helping out—feeding poor people and the underprivileged, and taking a survey of their economy."
Arnold listened to his daughter and smiled after she finished.
He was happy to hear she was building a good reputation.
As the next president of the country, Scarlett needed the public to love her. So, when she chooses to help people on her own, it was proof that she was ready to lead and secure her family’s power. This was the noble behavior that would guarantee her success as a ruler.
But Mr. Trump remembered what his sister told him before Scarlett came back.
"Brienne, didn’t you tell me she went out hunting for a dangerous monster zone?"
"Yes, Arnold," Brienne replied. "That is what she did. She is lying to your face to cover up her dangerous field trips."
Scarlett stayed silent in the face of the accusation, her jaw clenched so hard her teeth hurt. Arnold then looked at her again with a serious face, knowing that his daughter rarely lied to him.
"Is your aunt telling the truth, Scarlett?" Arnold asked.
There was no point in lying anymore—Brienne had caught her red-handed. Scarlett was flabbergasted by how her aunt knew her movements.
"Fine," Scarlett said. "Yes, I went to find more difficult monster zones for myself and the team in the Trials. Is there a problem with me getting stronger?"
The moment she admitted it, the room went still.
Mr. Trump sat back to process what she said, his mind skimming through everything Brienne had warned him about.
He did not like the idea of his only daughter, and the heir to the nation’s throne, risking herself in unsupervised danger just to carry her classmates through their Academy competition.
"You are the heir to this country, Scarlett," Arnold muttered with disappointment. "You do not risk your life to find or kill monsters for students who cannot pull their own weight."
Before Scarlett could open her mouth to defend her party, Brienne added fuel to the fire.
"She isn’t just risking her life for a normal classmate, brother," Brienne said. "She is doing everything for Luke Kingsley. Scarlett is head over heels for a banished nobody."
"Aunt Brienne!"
Scarlett had no other choice.
"I am only saying what is true," Brienne continued, not backing down at all as she walked around the desk to face Scarlett. "I won’t let you ruin our bloodline for a scrap-metal summoner, and I won’t let you embarrass this family over a foolish love affair."
That was the last straw; hence, anger took over Scarlett.
Her eyes glowing like the sun, and the aura of the Empyrean Phoenix was a brazen challenge and a sign that a fight was near.
But Brienne did the same thing, and her own glow was ten times brighter, so it overwhelmed Scarlett and forced her to step back.
Scarlett knew better than to make an enemy of her aunt in battle.
Brienne was a monster, a woman of iron fortitude and dreadful prowess, who had her beast above the first plane of cultivation, something only a few people in history had ever achieved.
Challenging her would be stupid.
So, Scarlett looked away from Brienne and focused on her father because Arnold’s word was law, and the only thing that overrides her aunt’s authority.
