Others Summon, I Forge Beast Armor

Chapter 130: Scarlett’s Responsibilities [II]

Nobody said a word, so the silence in the library continued.

Brienne was confident about how things would end, while Scarlett was anxious.

Finally, Arnold sighed and said, "After much consideration, I need to make things clear to you, Scarlett. You are too important to this family—and to this country—to go around risking your life for other people."

Scarlett started to speak, but her father kept going. "I have no choice here. I am ordering you to cut ties with anyone who is dragging you down."

"Father, listen—"

"No, you listen," Arnold said. "You are the heir to this Order, and as the next president, every move you make impacts this country. Respecting prestige, maintaining order, and preserving dignity are paramount duties. You cannot afford to surround yourself with mediocrity."

"M–mediocrity?" Scarlett asked with eyes wide.

As far as she was concerned, this was the most ridiculous thing said in this conversation.

"Are you serious right now?

My teammates are not mediocre—Raven is amazing, Vivian is incredible, and Luke... they are all brilliant! They are the best partners I could ever ask for at the academy. They are my team, Father. They have fought beside me and proven what they can do. Do you expect me to throw them away and live like a hermit just because they don’t fit some standard in your head?"

As Scarlett talked back, Arnold listened, and while listening, he noticed the emphasis she placed on Luke’s name.

"I apologize about Raven and Vivian. I acknowledge their talent and background; they are anything but mediocre. But as for Luke... that is where the case falls apart," Arnold said.

"I might think well of the boy, but he is not fit to stay anywhere near you," he finished.

"Why?" Scarlett demanded.

"He will tarnish you. I believe I just explained it. Luke Kingsley summoned a gauntlet, and the last I heard of him, he was selling armor in the slums to make ends meet. He is weak, he has no family backing, and he ruins your image. You cannot be seen with someone that low."

Mr. Trump explained it as best as he could, so his daughter would understand without taking it the wrong way, but Scarlett was angry that her father, who used to be reasonable, had turned against Luke based on outdated reports and poisonous gossip.

"Father, you must understand. He is anything but weak. His armor is so much more than what your eyes can see! He has potential beyond your imagination—he could even slay gods if he wanted to..."

But unfortunately, her claims sounded preposterous to the ears of anyone who hasn’t seen what Luke could do.

Since Mr. Trump was among these people who haven’t seen what’s special about a beast armor summoner, he became fed up with his daughter’s tirade.

"Enough!" he barked, slamming a palm hard onto his desk. "This is absurd!

You will obey my order, Scarlett, and that is final!"

"Brother, we both have known her since she was a baby, as stubborn as an ox. She isn’t going to listen to you," Brienne said. "If you try to punish her, she will fight back harder or find a way around us, because she’s decided this boy matters, and nothing you say will change her mind.

So, we have to go after the root of the problem. Every time she sees Luke, make the boy pay the price. Hurting him is the only way to get through to her."

Brienne wanted to turn Scarlett’s own loyalty into a weapon against her.

When Arnold heard this, he frowned because he didn’t like such an idea, but looking at his daughter, he felt he had been left with no choice.

This fierceness in her eyes was shocking. They must quench it or turn it to things that matter to the family and country.

Months ago, Scarlett didn’t even care who she was engaged to, and she treated the arranged marriage as another responsibility, but now she looked like she was in love and was challenging her own father because of the same man.

Meanwhile... on Scarlett’s side.

After today, she promised to loathe her aunt.

Also, she was convinced her aunt was clueless about how far she could go for Luke.

She knows what he was becoming. She has seen him fight, and things that neither her father nor her aunt could imagine.

If they thought threatening Luke would force her away from him, they misreckoned the fire in her blood.

"There is nothing more for me to say," Scarlett muttered and walked away from her father and aunt, but she stopped at the door when her father’s voice said something.

"Scarlett. You are Margaret’s daughter."

Scarlett noticed his voice had changed. Now it sounded like he was exhausted, no longer angry.

"You are destined to become humanity’s number one. You cannot run from what that means. You must choose one of the suitors I have presented to you and get yourself a consort to keep the family stable. Otherwise...

I may have to abdicate my seat and have you succeed earlier than planned. I’m getting old, Scarlett."

Scarlett finally looked over her shoulder with a lump in her throat, but she left the library nevertheless without looking back.

Frustrated and drained, Scar stormed to her room.

In her room, she stripped off her clothes.

Naked and shivering, she walked to the front of her mirror to look at her body.

She looked good.

Her nipples were like pink corks, her red hair made her irresistible, her belly button hid itself, and she also had green veins in some places, like her breasts and laps.

In her private area, she had too much hair, overgrown because of weeks of being too occupied and not having enough time for herself.

So, Scarlett took an electric shaver and began cutting the hair, using the mirror for help to see better.

After that, she went to her bathtub. The bathtub was steaming with milk as she had asked.

Something that hot should scald flesh, but the blood of the Empyrean Phoenix flowing through her veins welcomed the heat as Scarlett sank herself into the hot milk.

She slid down until the cream reached her chin and her head relaxed on the ledge of the tub. Finally, she exhaled.

Scarlett wanted to use the bath to forget about her political responsibilities, Brienne’s threats, and even forget about Luke.

She wanted to focus on herself and what she wanted out of her own life.
