Eventually, the problem Luke was anticipating arrived at his doorstep.

BAM! A hand met the surface of his desk, scaring the two harlots away from his side.

"Luke Kingsley of the Silver Order," the newcomer sneered, "assuming you’re even worthy of that title right now." He was tall, muscular, and confident.

"Here we go again," Luke thought to himself.

Principal Claris had warned him that students would be desperate to humiliate him during this joint term just to make a name for themselves, but he hadn’t expected them to be this relentless.

"Let’s not do this right now, shall we?" Luke said calmly.

"What’s the matter? Are you rejecting my challenge?" the bully snorted. "You know that turning down a challenge means a forfeit, right?"

Luke narrowed his eyes, refusing to let a forfeit define him.

"Yes, Luke. You heard me correctly. I am challenging you right here and now. I want whatever you have left gone."

Several students gasped, covering their mouths, while the rest watched the drama unfold. Regardless of the reaction, they were all witnessing the very first challenge of the joint term.

"May I at least know your name first?" Luke asked, looking up at his challenger.

"Wait, how do you not know who I am?" the bully barked, offended. "I am Ryan Razael from the Razael family! My father is an Elder-grade summoner just like yours. And let us not forget that I defeated your sister, Raven, in a tournament back when we were thirteen!"

Although some noble families naturally outranked others, Ryan was angry that Luke didn’t even recognize him. Meanwhile, Luke didn’t care at all.

"Is that what gave you the nerve to challenge me today? Because you managed to beat my thirteen-year-old sister years ago?"

Ryan laughed hysterically to cover up his embarrassment.

"No! It’s because you’re a waste of space! A summoner without a beast? What is this, a Lego academy? I want all your supplies right now. All of them! Your beast food? Hand it over. Your daily cores? They belong in my pouch!"

Luke stood up from his chair, unfazed by Ryan’s intimidation tactics.

Logically, Ryan wasn’t acting out of line. Since the world believed Luke had no beast, everyone thought he was taking up space and resources for nothing.

This was an opportunity for any student to challenge him, gain an easy victory, and hoard his supplies for themselves.

But that was where they were wrong.

Luke had the power to revive an army of Mythic beasts. Factually, he needed all supplies he could get his hands on. And he wasn’t just going to defend his own—he was going to strip arrogant fools of theirs.

His weak facade was his weapon, and he was going to exploit it to the fullest.

"I accept your challenge, Ryan. But what is on the table from your end if you lose?"

Ryan laughed and shrugged. "The same thing, obviously. My daily supplies against yours."

"Really?" Luke countered. "Don’t you think it’s a bit unfair for a summoner of your calibre to challenge a beastless failure like me and offer the same stakes? You hold all the cards, Ryan. You need to risk more."

Many students nodded, agreeing with Luke’s logic. Ryan had to comply because of his classmates’ reactions. After all, he did not think Luke would stand a chance against him, nonetheless.

"Fine! Since you are so desperate, what do you want on the table from me, you weakling?"

Luke smiled knowingly. His red eyes even gleamed with a wicked spark.

"Everything you want from me, plus your Combat Bracket," Luke said. "Since my awakening, the academy has kept me at the bottom for ranked matches, meaning I can’t fight the top students. But I don’t plan to rot down there. I want to test myself, so you will swap your bracket with mine when I win."

Everyone stared at Luke like he was insane. A beastless summoner demanding a High Combat Bracket? That was so absurd, there wasn’t a reaction to match it.

Ryan threw his head back, laughing like a drunk goblin.

"Are you out of your mind, Luke Kingsley?! You’re begging to face the elite students who could literally kill you!"

Luke couldn’t deny that his demands made little sense to others, but he wasn’t about to explain his plans to them. He needed a High Combat Bracket if he wanted to grow.

After his last practice session, he realized that his current Low Combat Bracket would only ever pit him against weaker opponents on Chloe Ackerman’s level. Those kinds of matchups wouldn’t force him to evolve.

But if he defeated Ryan Razael and took his High Combat Bracket, he would get to face stronger opponents, including his brother, Adrian. It was the only way to test how his beast armor actually fared against true threats.

But getting someone like Ryan to bet his bracket wouldn’t be easy. It was the equivalent of asking a warrior to hand over his weapons. Everyone here was looking to get stronger, too.

"What’s the matter, Ryan?" Luke said, resorting to taunts. "Are you scared?"

"Scared?? HA-he! You’re on, you idiot! We fight today!" Ryan roared.

"And I will personally oversee it."

All the students turned around and sat in order as a teacher walked into the classroom. Professor Kuiver.

"I commend the fire inside you, young people," Kuiver said, tuning his glasses. "And I appreciate your restraint for saving the violence for the arena. But for now, we must sit and focus on our first class of the term."

Ryan snorted at Luke before heading to his seat. He made sure to glance at Lucy and Scarlett on his way to ensure they saw him look cool and dominant during the confrontation.

Yeah, right.

Meanwhile, Luke sat back in his chair while whispers began to rise again.

Some students argued that he was cooked. Being the first person put into the dirt this joint term would ruin his image forever. Other students reasoned that Ryan was making a mistake. After all, Luke had ripped an elf’s arm off before.

Professor Kuiver enjoyed the classroom drama as he stood before the class to begin the lecture. It reminded him of his own teenage days.

"For this opening session, I expect all of you to already be well-educated on the biology of summoning," Professor Kuiver said.

"However, today we will be moving into the geography of our world power source: Aeon energy, and how its varying concentrations across the countries affect life diversity, mutations, and even your own individual summoning abilities."
