After our date and exploration, we made our way to the 6th Floor Amphitheater. It wasn’t originally part of the plan, but as soon as I received word of what was happening there, I couldn’t resist. When a group of the strongest Demon Slayers challenges one of Nazarick’s finest warriors, it’s not something to ignore.
Gyomei, Muichiro, Uzui, Rengoku, Giyu, Sanemi, and Obanai—all gathered in the wide arena, facing off against none other than Cocytus himself. A sight to behold, really.
I glanced around, scanning for a familiar face—or rather, horns and a smug smile—but Akaza was nowhere in sight.
Smart. If he’d stuck around and let himself be seen by the Hashira, there would have been a bloodbath.
The man did kill more than a few of their comrades back in their world. He was technically under my protection now, but even I knew that bringing him face to face with the surviving Hashira would’ve been... inconvenient.
So, he ran. Probably hiding in one of the lower floors. I made a mental note to reward him for once—for not causing trouble.
"Looks like we made it just in time," Mitsuri said, her eyes wide with excitement as she leaned on the railing. "They’re really going to fight that giant?"
"That Giant’sname is Cocytus. He accepted their challenge," I replied, smiling. "He respects strength. And they’re the elite of their world."
I had to praise their guts, if anyone other humans saw Cocytus they won’t fight him. As he is double their hight and size.
"This is going to be insane," Aoi murmured, her eyes fixed on the field below. Even she, who usually preferred the quiet and orderly, couldn’t look away.
Nezuko nodded, unusually animated. "Cocytus is strong, right?"
"One of the strongest," I said. "In raw combat, he’s terrifying. Let’s see how long your friends can last."
Below us, Cocytus stood tall and imposing, his four arms holding a variety of weapons: a massive halberd, a blade of cold mist, a jagged spear of ice, and a curved sword that crackled faintly with energy. His eyes glowed with calm anticipation.
The Hashira stood in formation—Gyomei at the center, the others spaced around him. Rengoku grinned, fire in his eyes. Uzui spun his dual blades in theatrical flair. Muichiro, calm as ever, raised his sword with quiet focus.
"Begin!" Cocytus boomed, his voice echoing through the amphitheater like a war drum.
What followed was chaos laced with beauty.
Gyomei moved first, his strength tremendous as he slammed his flail toward Cocytus, the chains shrieking through the air. Cocytus blocked with one blade, even as Rengoku’s flaming katana sliced in from the side. Cocytus flowed like water, parrying with his halberd and pushing both back.
Then Muichiro vanished in a blur, mist forming in his wake as he struck from behind. Cocytus tilted his head, letting the blade graze harmlessly off his icy shoulder.
"Impressive," I murmured. "They’re coordinating well."
Sanemi and Obanai came in next, one a whirlwind of slashes, the other darting like a snake. Cocytus parried Sanemi’s blade with his spear, and then caught Obanai’s strike mid-air—his own hand closing around the Hashira’s sword.
"Whoa," Nezuko whispered beside me. "He caught it."
"Yup. With his bare hand," I said, crossing my arms. "That’s Cocytus."
Giyu tried to create an opening, sliding in from the shadows with deadly precision. Uzui shouted something flashy and leapt high, throwing his chained blades like a storm.
Cocytus responded with elegance—his body a blur of blue and white. One blade redirected Giyu, another sent Uzui tumbling mid-air, and his halberd forced Gyomei back with sheer force.
The arena shook. Ice blossomed beneath their feet with every clash.
"Rengoku is still smiling," Aoi noted, a touch breathless.
"He loves this kind of fight," I said. "Win or lose, he’s here for the thrill."
"Do you think they can win?" Nezuko asked, leaning on my arm.
"No," I said without hesitation, chuckling. "But they’ll make Cocytus work for it."
The fight dragged on, growing more intense by the second. Sanemi bled from the arm, Obanai’s uniform was torn, and even Gyomei looked strained. But none of them backed down. They were Demon Slayers through and through.
"You chose well," Mitsuri whispered, eyes full of admiration. "To bring them here. To let them see this."
"They deserve it," I said simply. "They carried their world on their backs for so long. I wanted them to see a bigger world."
Mitsuri took my hand. "And what about us?"
"You’re already part of it," I replied, squeezing gently.
Below, Cocytus finally stepped forward with full intent. A freezing aura rolled out like a blizzard, forcing the Hashira back. The clash ended as quickly as it escalated—Cocytus swept the field with a flurry of attacks, disarming Gyomei, pinning Sanemi to the ice with a spear, and forcing Muichiro to yield with a sword against his throat.
The Hashira dropped to one knee, panting, battered, but proud.
Cocytus lowered his weapons.
"You are all... worthy warriors," he said, his deep voice respectful. "I am honored."
Rengoku grinned, even as he coughed. "That was the most fun I’ve had since... well, forever."
"Let’s do it again sometime," Uzui said, laughing despite his bruises.
I turned to the girls beside me. "Shall we go greet the victors?"
Mitsuri beamed. "Absolutely!"
"Let’s see if Sanemi is still grumpy," Aoi muttered.
Nezuko smiled, slipping her hand in mine again. "That was amazing."
