Overlord: The Multiverse

Chapter 455: Charlotte Linlin

Life and Death are still in a frenzied battle with each other. Neither of them backed off as they clung to their ideas.

During the intensity of battle, a part of Death’s focus, which was still on Alex, started to waver.

•••

In my previous journeys through the multiverse, the portals I created were simple and straightforward—enter on one side, and in less than a second, I’d emerge in a new world. Like flipping a page in a book. No delays. No odd sensations. No intermissions.

But this time... things were different.

Cocytus, Narberal, and I were still inside the portal, and it had been several long seconds.

The space around us shimmered with a strange, pulsating energy. Darkness coated the walls of the tunnel, but it wasn’t just empty darkness—it was moving.

Almost alive. Streams of glowing matter twisted and curled around us like celestial ink in water, shifting with patterns I couldn’t read. Like a heartbeat gone erratic.

Cocytus’s heavy body shifted beside me, his head turning slowly to take in the surroundings.

"My. Lord. Does. This. Occur. In. Your. Previous. Journey?" he asked, his deep voice rumbling, each word deliberate and separated.

I shook my head. "No, Cocytus. This is the first time I’ve ever seen something like this. Normally, the portal is instant. No waiting. No moving parts. Just... transition."

Narberal stood silently, her hand near her weapon, eyes darting between the shifting energies. Her usual composure was still there, but I could sense the tension in her magic aura. She was ready to strike at a moment’s notice—even in this formless space.

The floor beneath us—if it could even be called a floor—suddenly buckled, as if something massive passed beneath the flowing darkness. The portal shuddered, then twisted, and for the first time in a very long time... I lost my balance and fell.

•••

I landed on something soft—too soft. My hands instinctively gripped for balance, only to realize with sudden clarity that I was not on the ground.

I was on top of a woman.

A very large, very pink-haired woman.

My hands were planted squarely on her ample chest, and for a brief, surreal moment, I wondered if this was some kind of bizarre One Piece character I had never seen before. But then her face twisted into a snarl, and before I could react—

WHAM!

Her foot connected with my ribs, launching me backward. I skidded across the ground, barely managing to flip mid-air and land in a crouch.

Damn it. My power really is sealed. I didn’t even get time to react. I wonder if Death sealed my physical only or did she also seal my magic. I thought.

The woman stood up, dusting herself off with an irritated huff. She was massive—towering over me with a presence that radiated raw power. Her pink curls bounced as she straightened, her piercing eyes locking onto me with an intensity.

Then, to my surprise, her expression shifted. The anger melted away, replaced by something far more unsettling—interest.

"Fufufu~" she chuckled, tilting her head. "Well now, what do we have here? A handsome man falling right into my lap?"

I blinked. This was not the reaction I expected.

She took a step forward, her grin widening. "You’re strong, aren’t you? I felt it when you landed. And those eyes..." She licked her lips. "You’ll make a fine husband."

I barely suppressed a grimace. Husband?

"Before I agree to anything," I said dryly, "how about you at least tell me your name?"

She laughed, a deep, throaty sound that rumbled like thunder. "Charlotte Linlin. And you?"

I stood still with my mouth open.

Charlotte Linlin.

Not just some random woman. Not a minor character.

This was Big Mom.

Prime Big Mom.

With my current power, I don’t think I can defeat her.

Before she became the monstrous emperor of Tottoland, before her rampages and her infamous hunger pangs—this was her in her prime.

I had not just been sent to the One Piece world.

I had been sent back in time.

Just as the realization hit me, the air behind me ripped open. Thanks God.

The vortex of swirling darkness yawned behind me, tendrils of energy lashing out like whips.

Linlin’s eyes widened. "What—?!"

The portal yanked.

I barely had time to react before I was being dragged backward, my feet leaving the ground.

Narberal and Cocytus were still missing.

Ah, shit, where are they?

"NARBERAL! COCYTUS!" I shouted into the void, my voice swallowed by the howling energy.

Linlin lunged forward, her massive hand outstretched. "No! You’re MINE!"

Her fingers grazed my arm because of her strength and my weakness. My arm was ripped off.

And then the portal snapped shut.

The last thing I saw was her furious, desperate face, her scream of rage echoing in my ears even as the darkness consumed me once more.

Then—

Silence.

I was back in the twisting, unstable void of the portal tunnel, alone. With only one arm.

No, Narberal. No Cocytus.

Just me and the endless, shifting abyss.

It seems Death didn’t seal my regenerative capacity, as my arm started to regenerate.

Now what should I do? Since Narberal and Cocytus aren’t with me, I am sure they are still in there.

I am not worried about them getting hurt or anything. As they both are stronger than anyone in the One Piece world.

What I am worried about is the passage of time. I didn’t even know how many years before canon I just dropped off to.

And it seems my system is also dead, as it keeps showing me {Out of Service}.

Death, My Love, What the hell are you dealing with now? I hope whatever it is, you finish it quickly.
