Pampering Discarded Heroines Triggers My 10,000x Rebate System
Chapter 62: Core OverloadThe fifteen-foot armored monstrosity stepped fully out of the pit, its boots crushing the tiles to dust.
A suffocating wave of heat and dark mana flooded the vault, making the stone walls vibrate. The creature looked down at the five junior hunters with glowing red eyes and slowly raised its massive, jagged sword.
The captain and the remaining brawler were paralyzed on the floor; their hands shook so hard they couldn’t even lift their weapons.
"Run..." the captain choked out in terror. "Get to the walls..."
SKRRRR-BOOM!
The giant didn’t give them a chance.
With insane speed that defied its massive bulk, it brought the ten-foot jagged sword down in a brutal strike aimed straight at the squad.
A dark silhouette blurred across the room.
Evren appeared directly in the path of the falling blade, planting both boots into the stone and raising the Frost-Bane Cleaver with both hands to block.
CLANGGGGGGG!
The collision sounded like a bomb exploding inside an enclosed bunker.
A shockwave tore across the vault floor, ripping up the floor tiles and sending stone fragments flying into the walls. The kinetic force pushed Evren back half a step, his heavy boots sliding against the solid rock.
Evren’s forearms absorbed the immense impact.
’Heavy,’ Evren noted calmly. ’Its physical density is comparable to an avalanche.’
Through the passive perception of Kinetic Flow, Evren saw the subtle muscle twitch in the giant’s right shoulder half a second before its next move.
The creature pulled its sword back and unleashed a lightning-fast horizontal sweep aimed at Evren’s waist.
Evren didn’t try to block a second direct strike.
He dropped his center of gravity, sliding under the sweeping black blade by less than an inch. As the giant blade whipped harmlessly over his head, Evren swung his Frost-Bane Cleaver upward with all his strength.
CRACK!
A concentrated blast of sub-zero frost mana slammed directly into the creature’s left knee joint.
The ice crystallized deep inside the armored tendons, freezing the joint solid and forcing the giant to stagger backward with a furious roar.
The creature staggered, its left leg trapped in thick ice.
Evren moved forward, landing two lightning-fast frost slashes across the beast’s chest plate. Bright blue sparks and frozen chips of black armor flew in every direction as the Frost-Bane Cleaver carved deep trenches into its defenses.
The creature shrieked in pain, swinging its left claw to swat Evren away.
Evren shifted his shoulders, ducking beneath the massive arm with effortless grace.
’It has high regeneration,’ Evren analyzed, noticing the black mist already swirling to repair the cracks in its armor. ’I need to destroy the core.’
Suddenly, the armored giant stopped trying to hit Evren.
Its glowing red eyes flicked past Evren’s shoulder, locking directly onto the five paralyzed hunters huddled against the far wall.
The creature’s horned helm twisted into a cruel sneer. Realizing it couldn’t match Evren’s speed or break his defense, it chose the easier targets in the room instead... the other hunters at the far end.
THUMP!
The giant slammed its iron boot against the stone floor.
A line of sharp obsidian spikes erupted from the ground, traveling across the floor with terrifying speed straight toward the young healer and archer.
At the same time, the monster lunged across the chamber, its massive claw sweeping down to crush them.
The remaining brawler gritted his teeth and threw himself forward, raising his heavy iron shield to protect the trembling healer.
CRUNCH!
The giant’s sweeping claw smashed the iron shield into twisted metal scraps.
The heavy blow tore through the brawler’s breastplate, slashing his chest and hurling him ten feet through the air into the stone wall.
The brawler slammed against the stone and collapsed to the ground, coughing up a mouthful of blood as he clutched his torn chest.
"Miller!" the captain screamed, rushing over to prop the brawler up.
The captain turned toward the young healer. "Come stop the bleeding! Heal him now!"
The young healer dropped to her knees beside the fallen brawler. Her hands were shaking so hard from terror that she fumbled, dropping her green medical pouch onto the blood-slicked stone tiles.
"I... I can’t..." the healer sobbed, her voice trembling uncontrollably as her mana flickered and died on her fingertips. "My hands won’t stop shaking..."
The captain grabbed her shoulder, shaking her hard. "Focus! Snap out of it and do it now, fast, or he’s going to bleed to death!"
ROAAARRR!
The giant stood over them, its red eyes glowing with evil delight.
It raised its ten-foot jagged sword high above its head with both hands, preparing to bring it down in a final execution strike that would split all three hunters in half.
"NO!" the young healer screamed, throwing herself over the wounded brawler.
Evren’s eyes turned cold.
BOOM!
He kicked off the cracked floor, moving with explosive S-Rank momentum.
Evren blurred across the chamber in a fraction of a second, appearing directly between the falling blade and the helpless hunters.
With no time to establish a full two-handed stance, Evren raised the Frost-Bane Cleaver diagonally with his right hand, catching the descending ten-foot greatsword three feet above the healer’s head.
CLANGGG!
The metallic impact sounded like thunder.
The downward force blew a wide crater into the floor under Evren’s boots. But as Evren locked the blade in place, the giant’s armored knee drove forward like a battering ram, slamming directly into Evren’s left ribs!
BOOOOM!
The brute force tore through the fabric of Evren’s dark trench coat, skidding his boots back four feet across the stone and leaving deep gouges in the obsidian floor.
The captain and the healer gasped in utter horror, convinced Evren’s ribcage had been crushed into powder.
Evren exhaled a sharp breath.
Thanks to the density of his enhanced body, Evren’s bones absorbed the impact like solid steel. Aside from a dull ache in his side, he was completely unharmed.
Evren looked up at the creature’s horned face "You’re done," he said coldly as he channeled his raw strength into his grip and shoved upward.
CRACK!
The giant’s sword was violently thrown back into the air. The recoil forced the massive beast to stumble three heavy steps backward into the center of the vault.
Evren didn’t give it room to recover. He launched forward, swinging his sword in a horizontal arc that cleaved through the beast’s chest armor, drawing a spray of dark, burning blood.
Realizing it was on the verge of defeat, the creature let out an ear-splitting shriek that shook dust from the vaulted ceiling.
BZZZZZZT!
The fist-sized purple crystal in its chest... The Shadow-Mist Core, began pulsing with blinding red and violet light.
Dark flames burst along its jagged sword, while its shattered armor hardened into thick crystal plates. The entire vault began heating up as the monster triggered its core overload.
The air warped with destructive heat.
"It’s overloading its core!" the captain screamed in pure despair, shielding his face from the rising heatwaves. "It’s going to incinerate the entire room! We’re all going to die!"
