Chapter 229 : News About Rid

At 3:30 PM, at the Academy gate.

Charles and senior Florian had just disembarked from the horse-drawn carriage they were riding in. They had just returned from the royal palace to meet Her Majesty the Queen and His Majesty the King.

"It seems we're the only ones at the academy. Well, that makes sense, since we were only going to the royal palace, which isn't that far from the academy. So our trip was quite short compared to those going to the Duke's residence," thought Charles.

Then Charles and senior Florian unloaded their luggage from the horse-drawn carriage. They were carrying a large number of items, which appeared to be souvenirs they had purchased in the capital of San Estella.

"Thank you for accompanying me to the royal palace, Charles," said senior Florian.

"You're welcome, senior," said Charles.

"After this, you may return to your dormitory, Charles. I would like to give this signed proposal to Miss Karina first," said senior Florian.

"Ok, senior. But what about your belongings, senior? Wouldn't it be better if you put them in your dormitory first?" Charles asked.

"I'll put these things at the academy gate first. They won't get lost because there are knights guarding it. After I give this proposal to Miss Karina, I'll come back here to take my things to the dormitory," said Senior Florian.

"I see. Ok, senior, then I'll be going," said Charles.

"Yeah," said Senior Florian.

Charles headed towards his dormitory carrying his belongings. Then Senior Florian began putting his things away at the academy gate.

"Mr. Knights, I'd like to leave my things here," said Senior Florian.

"Ok, young master Florian. But wouldn't it be better to leave them at your dormitory, young master? We'll help you carry them if you want," said one of the knights guarding the academy gate.

"No need, I'll bring it myself. I'll leave it here for now because I have some business to attend to," said Senior Florian.

"Ok, young master," said Senior Florian.

After that, Senior Florian walked to meet Miss Karina. However, as Senior Florian was walking, suddenly a bright light shone from his pocket. Then Senior Florian took something from his pocket. The brightly shining thing turned out to be a communication crystal. The bright communication crystal indicated a call from the communication crystal. Senior Florian immediately answered the call.

"Hello,"

"What do you need, father?"

"What?!?!? Enzo is dead?!?!," said Senior Florian.

At the same time, at the Duke of San Lucia's residence.

Irene and Senior Nadine were seen preparing to board the horse-drawn carriage they would be riding back to the academy. Commander Asier and Duke Louis were also there seeing them off.

"Be careful on the road, Irene, Nadine," said Duke Louis.

"Ok, father," said Irene.

"Irene, if you ever get the chance to visit here again, don't forget to bring Rid with you," said Commander Asier.

"Ok, brother. But if that opportunity doesn't come, you can wait until we're both fourth-year students. Since the final exam of the fourth year will be held here, Rid will definitely come here," said Irene.

"That's true, but it's possible that Rid won't take that final exam. What if he takes a special exam, fighting one of the San Fulgen troops commanders like me, and then successfully passes that special exam and graduates straight from the academy?" said Commander Asier.

"Hmm, that's true. If Rid takes that exam, I'm sure he can pass it," said Irene.

"You're very confident in your boyfriend, aren't you? If he takes that exam, he'll have to fight one of the San Fulgen commanders. Fighting those commanders is very difficult for academy students," said Commander Asier.

"That's because I've been observing Rid all this time. Rid has never lost a fight. Not just against students, but he's also fought against attackers who attacked the academy before, and in those fights, he always emerged victorious without sustaining serious injuries. Because of that, I can't imagine how Rid could lose," Irene said.

"So, if Rid takes that special exam and I'm the one chosen to fight him, who do you think will win?" asked Commander Asier.

"I don't mean to belittle you, brother, but I'm confident that Rid will win," Irene said.

"It hurts me to hear my little sister speak like this. Well, if you have that much confidence in Rid, I'm even more convinced that Rid is a reliable and suitable person for you. Give him my regards when you meet him," said Commander Asier.

"Ok," said Irene.

Then Irene and senior Nadine began to board the horse-drawn carriage.

"Then I'll take my leave, brother, father," said Irene.

"Yes, see you later, Irene," said Duke Louis and Commander Asier.

"Brother Asier, Lord Duke, I'll take my leave too," said senior Nadine.

"Yes, see you later, Nadine," said Duke Louis and Commander Asier.

The horse-drawn carriage began to move slowly. Then it moved out of the Duke of San Lucia's residence. Meanwhile, Commander Asier and Duke Louis continued to watch the carriage as it continued to move away from the Duke's residence.

"Irene seems to have changed, huh?" said Duke Louis.

"Yes. After experiencing an incident in her childhood that was exploited by the other nobles, and after her mother experienced this situation, Irene tended to be cold towards those around her. However, it seems she has changed. Well, although her face still often has a cold expression, I can tell that her demeanor is not as cold as before. Perhaps she has changed since meeting Rid. It seems we should thank Rid if we see him again," said Commander Asier.

"Yes, you're right, Asier. Now let's go inside, besides, the carriage they were riding in has already moved away," said Duke Louis.

"Yes, father," said Commander Asier.

As Commander Asier prepared to return to the residence, suddenly a bright light appeared in his pocket. The bright light came from a communication crystal that had received a call from someone. Commander Asier took the crystal from his pocket and immediately answered the call.

"Hello,"

"Yes, what's up?"

"Hmm, Rid? Oh, that's right. I heard that he's currently in San Angela City to deliver a proposal. Did you meet him, Sara?"

"What did you say?!?! You're not joking, are you?!?!," said Commander Asier as he answered the call.

Duke Louis, who heard that Commander Asier was on the call, was curious about what Commander Asier and the person were talking about.

"What's up, Asier? I heard you talking about Rid?" asked Duke Louis.

"Yes, father. I was indeed discussing Rid with my vice commander. Something happened to Rid," said Commander Asier.

"Something happened to Rid? What is it? What happened to Rid?" asked Commander Asier.

"I received news that Rid is being detained for killing the son of the Duke of San Angela," said Commander Asier.

"What?!?!," said Duke Louis, shocked.

-

That evening, around 8 PM at the academy gates.

Three horse-drawn carriages had just arrived at the academy gates. The carriages began to unload their passengers.

"Irene!" said Chloe, who had just gotten out of her carriage.

As soon as she saw Irene, she immediately greeted her.

"Chloe?" Irene said.

"What a coincidence, we arrived at the same time," Chloe said, immediately approaching Irene.

"Yes. How was your trip? Any problems?" Irene asked.

"No problems. What about you?" Chloe asked.

"Me too," Irene said.

"I see. Let's end our conversation for now. I'm going to unload my luggage first," Chloe said.

"Ok, me too," Irene said.

Then Irene and Chloe began unloading their luggage from the carriage. After unloading their luggage, they both began walking back to the dormitory. But, when they were about to walk back to the dormitory, someone called them.

"Hello Chloe, Irene, what a coincidence we arrived at the same time," said Senior Vanina.

Irene and Chloe both looked back.

"Senior Vanina? So the other carriage is occupied by you and Princess Amelia, Senior. And what's with all that luggage you're carrying?" Chloe asked.

Chloe saw Senior Vanina carrying a large amount of luggage. She could even carry it with both of her hands.

"Well, it just so happens that I had a lot of interesting things I wanted to buy in San Quentine, so these are the items I've managed to purchase. There are also souvenirs for you," said Senior Vanina.

"I see, it looks like Senior Vanina really enjoyed this trip," Chloe said.

At the academy student dormitory.

Chloe was about to enter her dormitory, while Irene was still standing in front of her dormitory door.

"Then I'll go to my dormitory first, Irene. Good night," Chloe said.

"Yeah, good night too, Chloe," Irene said.

Chloe then entered her dorm, while Irene remained standing in front of her dorm door. Then, Irene glanced at Rid's dorm.

"It looks like Rid hasn't come home yet, and I don't sense his aura inside. Maybe he's late because he's out walking around San Angela," Irene thought.

Irene then decided to enter her dorm. Just as she was about to unlock the door, she suddenly heard someone calling her.

"Irene!" the voice said.

Irene knew the voice was coming from outside the dorm because there was no one in the hallway where she was standing. She immediately looked outside and saw her senior, Nadine, standing downstairs in the courtyard. Irene answered her senior's call.

"What's wrong, Nadine?" Irene asked.

"There's something I need to talk to you about. Can you come down here?" Nadine asked.

"Ok," said Irene.

Then, Irene immediately went downstairs to meet Nadine. Not long after, Irene finally met Nadine, and this time they were face to face.

"What's wrong, Nadine?" Irene asked.

"I just got news from Duke Louis. I didn't bring my communication crystal with me when I went to San Lucia because I left it in my dorm, so I only got this news when I returned. Duke Louis gave me news about Rid," Nadine said.

"News about Rid? Wait, why is my father suddenly giving me news about Rid? Did Rid come to San Lucia?" Irene asked.

"No, Duke Louis got this news from Brother Asier, and Brother Asier got this news from his vice commander who was patrolling the San Angela area. Duke Louis told me that something happened to Rid while he was on his way to San Angela," Nadine said.

"Did something happen to Rid? Tell me, Nadine, what happened to Rid?" Irene asked.

-

The next day.

The entire kingdom of San Fulgen was shocked by the circulation of a newspaper published by 'Diganta'. The newspaper carried news of the 'Duke of San Angela's Son Murder Incident' and the 'Hevea Forest Massacre Incident'. Both stories in the newspaper shocked everyone who read them. This was especially true because the perpetrator involved in both incidents was the man dubbed the 'hero' of the academy attack some time ago, Rid Archie.

The newspaper also explained that Rid Archie was currently being held in the largest and most secure prison in the kingdom of San Fulgen, located in the capital of San Estella, San Sabaneta Prison for the incident. Rid Archie would be held there until the royal court decided on his appropriate punishment. The trial would take place the following day, Monday. However, given the crimes he committed, especially the murder of a Duke's son, a high-ranking nobleman, Rid Archie's punishment is predictable. The punishment he will receive will most likely be death.
