Peerless Medical Emperor

Chapter 226: Too Late for Regrets

’This is bad,’ he thought. But it was too late for regrets. He could only brace himself and continue with the surgery, hoping he could hold on until it was finished.

Time ticked by, second by second, and Chen Qingdi’s heart beat faster and faster. He knew his time was running out, but he also knew that if he gave up on the surgery, the Evil God Sect would surely kill him. He could only keep encouraging himself, telling himself that he absolutely had to persevere.

Finally, the surgery was complete. Chen Qingdi let out a long sigh of relief. He knew his task was done.

He watched the Evil God Sect’s Elder slowly awaken, only then relaxing a little.

"You did it," the Elder said, looking at Chen Qingdi with gratitude. "I’ve never met a young man as brave as you."

"It was my duty," Chen Qingdi replied with a small smile. "I also hope you can understand my predicament."

"I will remember you," the Elder said. "If I have the chance in the future, I will definitely repay this debt. Although you are a prisoner on this island, you are, more importantly, my benefactor."

"There’s no need," Chen Qingdi said, waving his hand dismissively. "I just did what I had to do."

The Elder was carried away, and Chen Qingdi walked out of the operating room.

He knew he had finally escaped the Evil God Sect’s immediate threat, but he also knew things wouldn’t end this simply. He decided to press forward, to find his own path and purpose.

"We’ll meet again." An Evil God Guard walked up to Chen Qingdi and said coldly, "Remember, you will always be our enemy."

"Is that so?" Chen Qingdi smiled contemptuously. "Then let’s see who has the last laugh. I find it hard to believe you won’t have anyone else who needs my help."

The light in the operating room was dim and heavy. Chen Qingdi, dressed in a white lab coat, stood before the operating table, focused on the microscope as the scalpel in his hand moved with gentle precision.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted at the door. A group of Evil God Guards walked in, escorting a man dressed in fine clothes.

They placed the man in an iron chair next to the operating table and explained to him.

"This is our Evil God Sect’s Hall Master. He was ambushed by an enemy while on a mission and is now afflicted with a deadly poison. Only you can save him."

Chen Qingdi glanced at the Hall Master. His face was pale and his whole body was trembling; his condition was indeed critical. Chen Qingdi said coolly, "I need to examine his condition first."

The Evil God Guards immediately placed a series of reports and test data in front of Chen Qingdi. He quickly flipped through them, his brow furrowed.

He knew the poison afflicting this Hall Master was extremely rare and very tricky to deal with. He needed to create a meticulous plan to ensure a successful treatment, while also preventing the Evil God Sect from simply disposing of him once he had served his purpose.

"How much Power is needed for the first course of treatment?" Chen Qingdi asked.

"It requires the Power of five antidotes," an Evil God Guard replied.

Chen Qingdi was silent for a moment, then said, "I need it now. If you can’t provide me with enough Power, I might fail. In that case, your Hall Master will be in grave danger."

The Evil God Guards looked at each other. They knew Chen Qingdi had a point. After a quick discussion, they decided to provide Chen Qingdi with enough Power.

Chen Qingdi nodded in satisfaction and began the first course of treatment.

His hands moved as if controlled by precision instruments, accurately manipulating the scalpel and other tools. He felt his body rapidly growing hot, but his eyes never left the operating table.

The first course of treatment was a great success. The Hall Master’s condition was alleviated, but Chen Qingdi knew this was only temporary.

He needed to continue the treatment, but at the same time, he had to keep an ace up his sleeve. So, he said to the Evil God Guards,

"To expel this kind of poison from his body will take a great deal of effort. Every treatment session will consume a massive amount of Power. I can’t even guarantee success myself. If you stop providing me with the antidotes, I’m perfectly willing to become a useless freeloader for you to support."

Hearing Chen Qingdi’s words, the Evil God Guards couldn’t help but feel a sense of helplessness.

They knew Chen Qingdi was in a difficult position, but they also understood that they had to continue providing him with antidotes, or their Hall Master might die.

After Fang was summoned, she reluctantly agreed to continue providing Chen Qingdi with the antidotes. After taking an antidote, Chen Qingdi resumed his treatment of the Hall Master.

He held back his true skills, ensuring the Hall Master would be out of danger but would not be fully cured. He knew this was necessary to protect himself from the Evil God Sect.

As the treatment progressed, Chen Qingdi felt his own Power gradually recovering. He knew this was because the antidotes provided by the Evil God Sect contained a large amount of energy-rich substances.

He began to plan the next move of his scheme.

During the course of the treatment, Chen Qingdi’s interactions with the Evil God Guards increased. He learned many things about the Evil God Sect from them.

During his long and painful imprisonment on the deserted island, Chen Qingdi suffered. He was the successor to the Medical God Sect, yet he was unable to cure the poison within his own body.

Every day, he battled the Sieve Virus, pushing his own limits time and time again.

However, Chen Qingdi did not give up. Through his repeated struggles, he began to grasp the pattern of the virus’s flare-ups and gradually felt that he was developing an effective way to deal with it.

He firmly believed that if he just had the chance, he would be able to cure himself completely.

The opportunity finally arrived. The Evil God Sect needed him to perform surgery on an injured person. Although the surgery seemed simple, Chen Qingdi knew this was his chance to put his own treatment for the Sieve Virus into practice.

The surgery began. Chen Qingdi deliberately stalled, minutely observing the patient’s vital signs.

He needed to ensure his own treatment method wouldn’t cause the patient greater harm. However, his deliberate delay began to make the people of the Evil God Sect impatient.

"Chen Qingdi, what in the world are you doing?" demanded Fang, a supervisor from the Evil God Sect, her voice filled with anger.

"I’m doing my best with the surgery, but the patient’s condition is very complex," Chen Qingdi replied.

"Complex? You’re just stalling, aren’t you?" Fang’s gaze bored into Chen Qingdi.

"I am not stalling," Chen Qingdi retorted. "Surgery requires precise manipulation. I cannot afford the slightest bit of carelessness."

Fang glared at Chen Qingdi one last time, then turned and left. She knew Chen Qingdi was a talented doctor, but his deliberate stalling was infuriating.

And so, she decided to have the Evil God Sect’s own doctors take over the surgery.

The Evil God Sect’s doctors took over. However, they lacked Chen Qingdi’s experience and skill.

During the procedure, their incorrect treatment methods caused the patient’s vital signs to drop sharply. In the end, not only did those doctors fail to cure the patient, they ended up sending him to the morgue.
