Peerless Medical Emperor

Chapter 227: Sent to the Morgue

Fang looked at the doctors furiously. "How could you let this happen? Why did you let the wounded man die?"

The doctors shook their heads in terror. "We don’t know what happened. Everything was normal during the procedure, but then the patient suddenly stopped breathing."

Fang slammed her hand on the table in a rage. "Then it’s your fault! Chen Qingdi had already prepped for the surgery. All you had to do was follow his method, and the patient would have been fine!"

The doctors lowered their heads, not daring to argue with Fang. They knew their incompetence had led to the patient’s death.

Fang turned to Chen Qingdi. "You win. You saved a man’s life in your own way. But from now on, you will become a key member of our Evil God Sect and work for us."

Chen Qingdi smiled faintly. "I can agree to your request, but I have conditions of my own."

Fang’s brow furrowed. "What conditions?"

"I need you to provide me with the medicine and equipment I require," Chen Qingdi said. "I will treat your wounded, but only on the condition that I get the medical resources I need. And of course, most importantly, the supply of my antidote must not be interrupted."

Fang was silent for a moment, then nodded. "Fine, I accept your terms. From now on, you will be the Evil God Sect’s most trusted doctor."

On this desolate and mysterious deserted island, Fang, the Evil God Sect’s island supervisor, sat in her office, frowning at the subordinates before her.

They were discussing a thorny issue: the prisoner, Chen Qingdi.

"Supervisor Fang, I think we need to consider this seriously," one of her subordinates said. "If we don’t use Chen Qingdi, it could affect the treatment of the wounded."

Fang was silent for a moment, her brow still furrowed. "I know." She sighed. "His treatment plans are indeed the best. I can’t deny that."

Another subordinate added, "That’s right, Fang. Even though we don’t fully trust Chen Qingdi, we can’t just give up on him for the sake of treating the wounded."

Fang nodded but said nothing. ’She knew her subordinates were right. Although Chen Qingdi had betrayed the Evil God Sect in the past, his medical skills were unmatched on this island.’

「In the month that followed,」 Chen Qingdi worked tirelessly to purge the poison from his body. He knew he had to recover as quickly as possible, or Fang and the others might discover his ruse.

Every night, he would sneak out of his room to look for useful medicinal herbs. Through constant trial and error, he finally expelled the poison from his system completely.

However, he didn’t immediately reveal that his Power had returned. Instead, he continued to feign weakness to make Fang and the others lower their guard.

He even deliberately demanded more of the antidote during his negotiations with Fang to test her and the others’ reactions.

「As time went on,」 the Evil God Sect guards on the island, and even Fang, gradually let their guard down around Chen Qingdi.

They no longer watched him as strictly as before and would even smile at him sometimes. ’This is a crucial step for my plan’s success,’ Chen Qingdi knew.

However, just as Chen Qingdi was preparing to make his next move, something unexpected happened.

「One night,」 as he was sneaking out of his room, he was spotted by a guard. The guard immediately gave chase, and Chen Qingdi could only run for his life.

He dashed through the jungle and leaped over ravines, trying to shake his pursuer. But the guard stayed hot on his heels, right behind him. Chen Qingdi knew that if he were caught, his entire plan would be exposed.

Just as the guard was about to catch him, a figure suddenly darted out from the side, blocking the guard’s path.

The guard froze for a second, then immediately attacked the figure. The figure deftly dodged the guard’s attack and swiftly counterattacked. Soon, the guard was subdued.

Chen Qingdi stared at the figure in astonishment, realizing it was Fang. He didn’t know why she was here, but she nodded at him, signaling for him to run.

Chen Qingdi didn’t hesitate. He immediately bolted deeper into the jungle. ’This is my only chance,’ he knew.

After trekking through the jungle for several hours, Chen Qingdi finally found a safe hiding spot. He sat on the ground, gasping for breath, his mind replaying what had just happened. ’I can’t figure out why Fang would help me escape, but one thing is clear—I have to seize this opportunity and push forward with my plan.’

「In the days that followed,」 Chen Qingdi remained hidden, biding his time. He knew Fang would come looking for him, and he had his next move ready.

「A few days later,」 Fang finally found Chen Qingdi’s hiding place. Seeing his gaunt appearance, she felt a pang of pity.

"Are you all right?" she asked.

Chen Qingdi nodded. "I’m fine," he said. "I just need more of the antidote. But I don’t understand... why did you help me escape?"

Fang chuckled, then knocked Chen Qingdi unconscious and slung him over her shoulder. Escaping wasn’t going to be that simple.

Imprisoned once again on Evil God Island, Chen Qingdi could only pass the time by chatting with the island’s Evil God Guards.

「One day,」 he overheard a piece of information: this island was the Evil God Sect’s temporary headquarters. The true headquarters was in the city where the "miracle of the Evil God" had been discovered. That city was currently being bombarded and was completely uninhabitable, so some of the sect’s classified documents were being kept here.

An idea sparked in Chen Qingdi’s mind. He decided to use this opportunity to find a way off the deserted island. And so, he began trying to get closer to Fang, attempting to pry more information from her.

"Fang, I hear this Evil God Sect of yours is quite mysterious," Chen Qingdi probed.

Fang shot him a wary glance and replied, "It is. Don’t go prying into our secrets."

Chen Qingdi smiled and continued, "Well, it’s not like I’m completely in the dark. For instance, your Sect Leader plans to store those classified documents here, right?"

Fang stared at him in surprise. "How could you know that?"

Chen Qingdi laughed inwardly. ’Looks like I guessed right.’ He then asked, "So, if I become one of you, will I be able to leave this island?"

Fang hesitated for a moment before saying, "I can’t guarantee that. But if you do become one of us, your safety will at least be assured."

Feeling more confident, Chen Qingdi pressed on, "What about your Sect Leader? Is he on this island too?"
