Every day, he was dedicated to his work, not only helping Shen Mingyue handle various matters but also taking responsibility for driving her to and from the office.
In his personal life, he played the role of an ordinary assistant, sleeping on the sofa outside Shen Mingyue’s bedroom.
One day not long after, Chen Qingdi suddenly made a request that took Shen Mingyue by surprise.
"Mingyue, I want to get married. My life has settled into a routine, and there aren’t likely to be any more upheavals. Getting married seems like the most pressing thing to do," Chen Qingdi said, looking at Shen Mingyue seriously.
Shen Mingyue’s face flushed. "Are you kidding me? Why is this moving so fast? I’m not prepared for this at all."
Chen Qingdi shook his head. "I’m serious. I know this is a bit sudden, but I feel that what we have has already surpassed an ordinary relationship."
Shen Mingyue took a deep breath and said.
"Qingdi, I admit we have feelings for each other, but I’m not ready to get married, let alone have children. I still want to enjoy my life, make money, and be a strong, independent woman."
Chen Qingdi smiled at her. "Mingyue, don’t worry. I know you need time to think. We don’t have to get married right away, but I want to be with you."
Shen Mingyue thought for a moment. "Alright, let’s leave it like this for now."
Although Chen Qingdi and Shen Mingyue lived in the same courtyard, they did not share a room.
They only shared some romantic moments at the right times to make their relationship more intimate. And Chen Qingdi had never revealed his true identity.
One evening, as Chen Qingdi was sitting in the courtyard drinking coffee, Shen Mingyue walked over.
"Qingdi, have you ever thought about telling me your true identity?" she asked softly, sitting down beside him.
Chen Qingdi sighed. "Mingyue, I’m not ready to tell you yet, but I will."
Shen Mingyue nodded. "Okay. I’m sure you have your reasons. I just hope we can be completely honest with each other."
Chen Qingdi smiled. "I will be, Mingyue."
Just then, Chen Qingdi’s phone suddenly rang. After he answered it, his expression turned serious.
"Alright, I understand." He hung up and looked at Shen Mingyue. "Mingyue, I have to go. There’s something I need to take care of."
Shen Mingyue frowned. "What could you possibly need to handle this late at night?"
Chen Qingdi stood up. "There’s something that needs my attention. I’ll be back as soon as I can." With that, he hurried out of the courtyard.
The next morning, Chen Qingdi still hadn’t returned, and Shen Mingyue waited anxiously for news from him. She kept calling his phone, but no one ever answered.
It wasn’t until noon that a weary Chen Qingdi finally returned to Shen Mingyue’s home. His face was pale, and it was clear he had just been through a fierce battle.
"Qingdi, are you alright?" Shen Mingyue asked worriedly, seeing his condition.
"I’m fine, just a little tired," Chen Qingdi said with a faint smile, indicating that he was okay.
"People from the Evil God Sect found you just now, didn’t they?" Shen Mingyue asked.
"Yes. But luckily, my Power has recovered a bit. I fought the four Guardians of the Evil God Sect and injured all of them, forcing them to flee in disarray," Chen Qingdi said, a hint of pride in his voice.
"But they’ll definitely make another move, won’t they?" Shen Mingyue asked, looking worried.
"Yes. I’m worried they’ll come again, so we need to prepare some countermeasures," Chen Qingdi said, his expression growing serious.
"So, what do you have in mind?" Shen Mingyue asked.
"I was thinking we could release a public statement saying that I, Chen Qingdi, have unfortunately died fighting the Evil God Sect. That way, they’ll think I’m dead, and we can use the opportunity to make our own arrangements," Chen Qingdi said slowly.
"That’s a good idea, but how would we release it?" Shen Mingyue asked.
"You could hire a lawyer to help you draft a statement, and then we can spread the news through various channels," Chen Qingdi explained.
"Okay, I understand," Shen Mingyue said with a nod.
"Also, I can lay low by your side and accompany you under the identity of an assistant named Yang Yang. That way, we’ll be better prepared to handle whatever comes next," Chen Qingdi said, his eyes glinting with resolve.
"Thank you, Qingdi," Shen Mingyue said, looking at Chen Qingdi gratefully.
Over the next few days, Chen Qingdi and Shen Mingyue drafted the statement together and spread it through various channels.
Chen Qingdi also went undercover in Shen Mingyue’s residence as the assistant, Yang Yang, ready at all times to deal with any situation that might arise.
One night, Shen Mingyue and Chen Qingdi were chatting idly in the courtyard of her home.
Suddenly, a black shadow descended from the sky, landing in the mansion’s courtyard.
They immediately looked out, on guard. A figure in a black cloak stood under the moonlight, their face obscured by a bamboo hat.
"Who might you be?" Shen Mingyue’s voice trembled slightly.
"I’m from the Evil God Sect," the shadow’s voice rasped, low and grim.
"What are you here for?" Chen Qingdi asked coldly.
"I’m here to take your lives. Did you think that by becoming Yang Yang, I wouldn’t know you weren’t dead? Do you take me for a fool?" The shadow’s voice was filled with killing intent.
"Then let’s see if you have what it takes," Chen Qingdi said as his figure shot toward the black shadow.
A fierce battle immediately ensued. The shadow’s Martial Arts were exceptionally high, putting some pressure on Chen Qingdi.
But Chen Qingdi was no pushover. He relied on his superb martial skill and quick wits to relentlessly trade blows with the dark figure.
Seeing this scene, Shen Mingyue’s heart filled with worry.
She knew she couldn’t be of any help and could only stand by and pray silently for Chen Qingdi’s safety.
The battle raged on for a long time, but in the end, Chen Qingdi defeated the black shadow with an absolute advantage. He walked over and ripped off the man’s bamboo hat, revealing his face.
The man was extremely ugly, his face covered in scars. He looked terrifying.
"Go back and tell the people of the Evil God Sect that if they come looking for trouble again, I will make them regret it. Of course, you could also choose to say you never saw me, that I’m already dead. That would be good for both of us," Chen Qingdi said, looking at the man coldly.
The man lowered his head without a word, turned, and left the courtyard. Chen Qingdi turned to Shen Mingyue and comforted her, "Don’t worry, the danger has passed. No matter how foolish that man is, he wouldn’t joke around with his own life."
