The driver nodded and started the car. Chen Qingdi sat in the back seat, his heart filled with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. He recalled his past with Shen Mingyue and the promise they had made to each other.
The car soon arrived at Shen Mingyue’s company building. After getting out, Chen Qingdi walked straight toward the security booth.
"Hello, I’d like to see President Shen," Chen Qingdi said politely. "Please tell her that my surname is Chen, and that I’m an old friend of hers."
The security guard glanced up at him, his eyes filled with contempt and arrogance.
He casually tossed the cigarette butt from his hand onto the ground, crushed it out with his foot, and then spoke. "Who do you think you are? You think you can see our President Shen just because you feel like it? Take a look at yourself."
Chen Qingdi’s brow furrowed slightly. He disliked this arrogant attitude.
He took a deep breath and said, "I have something important to discuss with President Shen. Please, just inform her."
The guard, however, had no intention of dealing with him. He turned to look away, muttering under his breath, "A nobody like this thinks he’s worthy of seeing our President Shen?"
Anger flared in Chen Qingdi’s heart. He decided it was time to teach this guard a lesson. He struck out in a flash, grabbing the guard by the collar and yanking him forcefully out of his chair.
"And just who are you? What gives you the right to be so arrogant and rude?" Chen Qingdi demanded.
The guard stared at him in terror. He never expected this seemingly ordinary man to react this way. He tried to resist, but Chen Qingdi’s strength was so great he couldn’t break free.
Seeing this, the other security guards rushed over to intervene. Chen Qingdi shot them a look, his gaze filled with intimidating power.
He moved like the wind, knocking all the guards to the ground.
Chen Qingdi’s actions quickly caught Shen Mingyue’s attention. She was standing at her office window and saw the commotion downstairs.
She frowned, thinking for a moment before deciding to go see the person causing the disturbance.
Shen Mingyue went downstairs and saw Chen Qingdi standing among a group of fallen security guards. The firm, resolute look in his eyes surprised her.
She walked forward and asked, "And you are?"
Chen Qingdi turned and saw Shen Mingyue. He released his grip, allowing the guard to gasp for air. "I’m Chen Qingdi," he said. "I’ve come to see you about something important."
Shen Mingyue’s brow furrowed. ’Why does he suddenly look like someone I don’t know?’ She decided to give him a chance. "Alright," she said. "You can come with me."
Chen Qingdi nodded and followed Shen Mingyue to the elevator. The other security guards staggered to their feet, but seeing this, they no longer dared to make a single rash move against him.
Shen Mingyue and Chen Qingdi stepped inside when the elevator doors opened. They remained silent during the ascent.
When the elevator reached the top floor, the doors slid open to reveal Shen Mingyue’s office.
Chen Qingdi pushed open the door and entered, stepping into this familiar yet strange environment.
A flash of surprise crossed Shen Mingyue’s eyes. She rose to her feet, looking at Chen Qingdi, hardly daring to believe what she was seeing.
"Qingdi, is it really you? I can’t believe it. I thought I might never hear from you again."
Chen Qingdi smiled faintly as he walked over and stopped in front of Shen Mingyue. He gently removed his glasses, revealing a pair of deep, profound eyes.
"I just escaped from the Evil God Sect. I had to disguise myself on the way here. I hope you don’t mind. If I showed my real face, it could cause even more trouble."
Seeing Chen Qingdi’s true face, tears instantly welled up in Shen Mingyue’s eyes.
’All this time, I’ve been so worried about his safety.’ She looked at him, her heart filled with joy.
"Qingdi, I’m so glad you’re okay. I’ve been thinking about you constantly. I even sent people to look for you, but no one could find a trace. I never imagined you’d actually come back."
Chen Qingdi gazed at Shen Mingyue with deep affection, gently stroking her hair.
"I know, Mingyue. I’ve been missing you this whole time, too."
Shen Mingyue hugged Chen Qingdi tightly, tears streaming down her cheeks.
She knew just how important this man was to her.
"Mingyue, I need your help. I need to get a new identity and hide my real one for a while, or there might be trouble."
Shen Mingyue was a little confused by his request, but she knew he must have his reasons.
She gently pulled away, looked into his eyes, and said.
"Of course, Qingdi. I’ll do everything I can to help you."
With Shen Mingyue’s help, Chen Qingdi took on the alias Yang Yang and became her assistant.
This new identity allowed him to stay hidden, safe from the pursuit of the Evil God Sect.
Shen Mingyue and Chen Qingdi worked, ate, and chatted together every day. Their bond grew even deeper.
As the days went by, Shen Mingyue found her feelings for Chen Qingdi growing ever deeper.
Chen Qingdi felt the same way about her. This life under a hidden identity was actually quite pleasant.
Though his identity had changed, the man hadn’t. Life was good. Shen Mingyue and Chen Qingdi began their life of happiness together.
They worked, ate, watched movies, and traveled together. Every day was filled with joy and happiness.
With Shen Mingyue’s help, Chen Qingdi gradually settled into his new identity.
He became an excellent assistant, well-liked and respected by his colleagues. He also slowly began to make new friends and expand his social circle.
Life as Shen Mingyue’s assistant, with his identity hidden, was treating Chen Qingdi rather well.
"Qingdi, are you really going to do this?" Shen Mingyue asked, sitting on the office sofa and gazing doubtfully at the man before her. "Your background is... complex. Are you sure you want to lie low here with me for the long term?"
"Yes, Mingyue. I’ve made my decision," Chen Qingdi replied firmly. "I’m going to stay by your side as your assistant."
Shen Mingyue frowned.
"Aren’t you afraid your cover will be blown one day? Your background isn’t ordinary, after all. If people find out who you really are and come after you... I don’t think I could bear the consequences."
Chen Qingdi smiled. "Don’t worry, Mingyue. I’ll do my best as your assistant. And I’ll protect my identity, too."
Shen Mingyue nodded. "Alright. If you’ve made up your mind, then that’s that. Is there anything you need?"
"I need a place to stay," Chen Qingdi said.
Shen Mingyue thought for a moment. "As it happens, I have a spare room at my house. You can stay there."
And just like that, Chen Qingdi became Shen Mingyue’s assistant and moved into her home.
