Peerless Medical Emperor

Chapter 64: Encountering Enemies in the Valley

"With what this guy confessed, at least we know what kind of trouble we’ll be facing."

"There’s a valley ahead with two of their people in it. Their strength should be comparable to Qiu Ming’s—Chief Envoys at most,"

Chen Qingdi said.

After leaving the woods, they walked for another half an hour. By then, the sky had gradually begun to darken.

"It’s almost dark, Medical Emperor. We shouldn’t enter the valley ahead tonight, should we?"

"It’s too dangerous there."

Master Hei, somewhat worried, cautioned him.

"We’re going into the valley to find a safe place. We’ll rest there tonight,"

Chen Qingdi said.

"Why?"

"We know for a fact they have people in the valley. Do we really have to go in?"

Mu Qingfeng didn’t quite understand Chen Qingdi’s reasoning.

"This danger is precisely what I want. I need everyone to act as bait and lure them to us."

"Otherwise, it would be quite an effort for us to track them down."

"All of you have been through countless crises. A minor one like this shouldn’t be enough to scare you away, right?"

Chen Qingdi said with a faint smile.

He then strode forward.

The others had no choice but to follow him resignedly.

Upon entering the valley, they didn’t notice anything unusual at first.

But as they neared the center of the valley, they were struck by a sudden chill.

"Let’s rest here."

Chen Qingdi said, pointing to a cave off to the side.

"But... isn’t this spot a little too obvious?"

Master Hei said with a wry smile.

"Lord Medical Emperor wants this exact danger."

"If we don’t put ourselves in a precarious position, how are we supposed to lure them out?"

"If you’re all scared, I’ll be the one to step up when the time comes."

Mu Qingfeng patted his chest with full confidence.

"It’s not that I, Master Hei, am scared. It’s just that those villains from the Evil God Hall have too many insidious tricks up their sleeves."

"Besides, some of them are skilled at making mechanical traps."

"If I fall into one of their traps, my lifelong reputation will be ruined."

Master Hei said with a laugh.

"Master Hei, your lifelong reputation was ruined a long time ago. Don’t you remember how that punk Qiu Ming got the better of you in the forest? If the Medical Emperor hadn’t intervened, both of us would have perished back there."

Zhao Tong said with a smile, glancing at Master Hei.

Master Hei’s face instantly darkened.

"You just had to bring that up, didn’t you?"

Master Hei said, annoyed.

The group entered the cave, which was massive—larger than a spacious apartment.

The valley was likely situated in a damp, chilly area surrounded by mountain streams, and it became bone-chillingly cold once night fell.

Guan Shanyuan and Murong Fei found some firewood and started a fire.

The flames crackled to life, and the group gathered around it. Chen Qingdi, however, sat cross-legged in a corner by himself.

With the bonfire burning, the cave no longer felt so desolate and cold.

In fact, it felt quite warm.

The minutes ticked by. It was already midnight, yet there was still no sign of movement outside.

"Everyone, get some sleep."

"I don’t think those villains are brave enough to show up."

"Maybe everything Qiu Ming said was a lie. Even if there were people stationed here, they might have left long ago."

Master Hei said, smiling at the others.

They all thought that made sense. Having walked all day, they were mentally and physically exhausted. So, hearing this, they all nodded and began to settle down for the night.

ZZZZZZ...

Soon, Chen Qingdi could hear them snoring.

"Master, they’re sound asleep."

"Will their snoring disturb you?"

Chen Yuan, standing guard by Chen Qingdi’s side, asked in a low voice.

"It’s fine. Let them sleep."

"Our trouble is likely about to begin."

Chen Qingdi said nonchalantly.

Just as he said that, Chen Qingdi tilted his head to listen. He could hear the sound of footsteps a few hundred meters away.

"They’re here,"

Chen Qingdi said.

"They’re here! Everyone, get ready!"

Chen Yuan immediately woke everyone.

But when Master Hei and the others looked toward the cave entrance, they saw nothing but pitch-black darkness. There was no one in sight.

"Where is anyone?"

Mingyao asked, also looking confused.

"Yes, Lord Cyan Emperor, are you sure you didn’t mishear?"

Guan Shanyuan added, looking at Chen Qingdi.

"The Lord Medical Emperor doesn’t make mistakes. Everyone, get ready to face the enemy,"

Chen Yuan told the group.

Just as the others were about to say more, they heard the sound of footsteps approaching from outside.

Then two men leading a dozen others charged straight into the cave.

The two men in the lead were the two Chief Envoys from the local Evil God Hall branch. They stared at Master Hei and his companions with cold, indifferent expressions.

"So you really did enter the valley."

"At night, a thick fog rises in this Mist Valley. And though it’s just a valley, the terrain within is extremely complex. Even if you tried to escape now, you wouldn’t get far. You don’t know the lay of the land."

One of the two leaders, a middle-aged man named Hu Bufan, spoke coldly to Chen Yuan’s group.

Chen Yuan paid them no mind, to say nothing of Chen Qingdi, who remained seated in the corner with his eyes closed, meditating, a layer of True Energy circulating freely around him.

Seeing how arrogant they were, not even deigning to look at them, infuriated Hu Bufan.

Beside Hu Bufan stood the other Chief Envoy from the Evil God Hall branch, a man named Zhang Jin.

Both were at the Guiyuan Realm, which made them first-rate experts in the mortal world.

Moreover, they had brought a large group of subordinates.

They had come to wipe out Chen Qingdi and his group in one fell swoop.

They had this plan, but so did Chen Qingdi.

The enemy wanted to kill, and so did Chen Qingdi. He wanted to kill every last villain in the world.

"Master, are we just going to sit here and not make a move?"

Chen Yuan asked, looking at Chen Qingdi.

"Murong Fei and Guan Shanyuan are more than enough to deal with these people. There’s no need for you or me to intervene."

"However, these people might have some nasty tricks. Just tell Master Hei and the others to be on their guard."

Chen Qingdi said with unshakable calm.

"I’m surprised you actually dared to come."

"This entire valley is our battlefield."

"Coming here was a death sentence. Do you understand?"

Zhang Jin gave a sinister smile, revealing teeth as white as bone.

"What empty boasts."

"With a pitiful handful of you, we can’t even be bothered to take you seriously."

Master Hei looked at them with disdain.

The enemy stared back with icy glares. For a moment, the tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
