Murderous intent filled the eyes of Zhang Jin and Hu Bufan.
"Bufan, what do you think? How should we deal with these people?"
"To think this handful of people dares to force their way into our branch."
"They shouldn’t have even made it past the Golden Armor River up ahead."
Zhang Jin glanced at Hu Bufan.
"Same as always. You deal with them."
After speaking, Hu Bufan smiled and walked to the side, casually finding a spot and sitting down.
"Fine. Since Bufan wants me to handle it, I won’t get rough. So you’re the one they call Master Hei. Let’s play a more civilized game, shall we? I’m tired of all the fighting and killing every day."
Zhang Jin smiled, looking at Master Hei.
"Fine. However you want to play, I’ll play along."
Master Hei watched him coldly.
’We’re at a critical point. I can’t lose to these evil-doers in terms of presence.’
"Then let’s go outside."
With that, Zhang Jin strode outside.
"Don’t be scared to follow. There’s not enough room in here. We’ll play outside."
Zhang Jin glanced back at Master Hei.
’What kind of trick are they trying to pull now?’ Master Hei wondered.
Despite his misgivings, Master Hei strode out after him.
"Fine. I’d like to see just what tricks a brat like you thinks he can pull on me."
Master Hei followed him out, his expression calm.
"I should go out and have a look."
Chen Yuan sought Chen Qingdi’s permission.
"Go. Be ready to clean up the mess if necessary."
Chen Qingdi said.
"Yes. Don’t worry, Master."
Chen Yuan smiled, nodded, and followed them outside.
With Chen Yuan on the scene, Chen Qingdi knew that dealing with them wouldn’t be a problem.
’The only concern is some dirty trick they might have up their sleeves. But I’m still here,’ Chen Qingdi thought. ’No matter what happens, I’m confident I can handle the aftermath.’
A thick fog had rolled in, cutting visibility to less than ten meters. When Master Hei followed Zhang Jin out, he saw that a sheet-metal table had been set up before him.
On the table sat three plastic bottles filled with wine.
"Allow me to introduce you. This is a special drink from my Evil God Hall, called Evil God Wine. You couldn’t get a taste of this on any normal day."
"However, of these three bottles today, two have been spiked with a special poison from the Evil God Hall—Bone-Scraping Powder. Only one is ordinary wine."
"I don’t know which bottle is safe, either. Do you dare test your luck against mine?"
Zhang Jin watched Master Hei with a sly grin.
’In my opinion,’ he thought, ’it won’t be long before Master Hei backs down.’
After all, Bone-Scraping Powder had the effect of completely dispersing a person’s Power.
If someone picked the wrong one and drank it, their Qi Strength would be completely useless, leaving them like a fish on the chopping block.
"Why wouldn’t I dare!"
"My only worry is that you already know which is which."
"You already know which one is poisoned, don’t you?"
Master Hei stared at Zhang Jin.
"That’s easy enough to solve."
"First, you can inspect these three plastic bottles and see if there are any special markings."
"After that, you can have your men switch the bottles around. I won’t look."
Zhang Jin said to Master Hei.
"Fine. That’s more like it."
Master Hei nodded.
Master Hei then walked to the metal table, picked up the three plastic wine bottles, and examined them carefully. The labels had been removed, and the transparent bottles looked identical. It was impossible to spot anything unusual.
Master Hei saw that the color of the wine inside was also identical. He opened them and sniffed; the smell was the same for all three.
’Finding the poisoned bottle is not going to be easy.’
But even so, Master Hei was still uneasy.
He spotted a cardboard box to one side, placed the three bottles inside it, and closed the lid.
"How about this?"
"We’ll close our eyes and each randomly pull one bottle out of the box."
Master Hei said to Zhang Jin with a smile.
"Sure. I’m not scared."
Zhang Jin said with a confident expression.
Then, Master Hei quickly drew a bottle of wine from the box.
"Go on, drink up. It’s quite good, and not too strong. It won’t even give you a headache."
Zhang Jin said with a grin.
A moment later, Zhang Jin also pulled a bottle from the box.
"You first."
Master Hei stared at him.
"Fine by me."
Zhang Jin smiled, tilted his head back, twisted off the cap, and drained the bottle.
"Your turn."
"Don’t tell me you’re scared, Master Hei."
Zhang Jin roared with laughter.
"Hmph. As if I would be afraid of something like this."
With that, Master Hei twisted the cap off his bottle and drained its contents completely.
After drinking, Master Hei felt fine.
"Hahaha, I win! You can all go die now."
Master Hei declared triumphantly.
After all, he’d felt no adverse reaction since drinking the wine, which naturally led him to believe he must have drunk the safe bottle.
"Is that so?"
Zhang Jin, however, seemed very calm.
This puzzled Master Hei. Zhang Jin had also downed his bottle, yet he seemed completely fine as well.
’They said only one bottle was safe. Could Zhang Jin have drunk a safe one too? That’s strange.’
Just as Master Hei was reveling in his victory, he suddenly felt a violent turmoil in his guts.
He let out a pained cry, then collapsed to the ground with a THUD.
"See? A battle of wits saves so much trouble. No need for all that messy fighting."
"So, who’s next?"
Zhang Jin’s gaze fell upon Zhao Tong and the others.
"Hand over the antidote now!"
"Or don’t blame me for what happens next."
Zhao Tong stared at him coldly.
Mingyao and Qingyan, both Medical Cultivators, rushed to Master Hei’s side.
In an instant, they had inserted more than a dozen needles into his body.
"It’s useless. I know you’re Medical Cultivators, but this is the Evil God Hall’s specially crafted Bone-Scraping Powder. Its victims suffer the agony of their bones being scraped, their meridians are thrown into chaos, and then they die in extreme torment."
Zhang Jin said, looking coldly at Master Hei on the ground.
"I’ll say it one more time: Hand over the antidote."
Zhao Tong said, his expression cold.
But Zhang Jin just smiled and shook his head.
"Actually, the bottle I drank was poisoned, too. I just took the antidote in advance."
Zhang Jin said with a gloating expression.
"You mean this was a no-win situation from the start? All three bottles were poisoned."
Murong Fei stared coldly at Zhang Jin.
"That’s exactly what I mean. You want to take down our Evil God Hall? I have to say, you people have a lot of nerve."
"Now that you’re here, you have only one fate: death."
Zhang Jin said with immense arrogance.
"Guan Shanyuan, Murong Fei, let’s stop wasting our breath on these scum. Let’s take them down and search them for the antidote."
Zhao Tong said, casting a worried glance at Master Hei.
Seeing Master Hei’s agonized state, it looked like he wouldn’t last much longer.
