Rosha’s reputation was simply too high—so high that every faction in Hydra respected him enough to suppress their own hostilities. It was only thanks to his presence that the powder keg of tension among the various powers had not already exploded. Through sheer strength and unity, Rosha had barely managed to integrate the power of the entire world to resist the Void.
But if anything were to happen to Rosha… then Hydra would instantly fall into chaos and fragmentation.
“Soren, are you asleep?” Lia’s voice came from outside the door, breaking Qin Xian’s train of thought.
“I’m still awake, Lia. You may come in.”
The door creaked open. Lia had clearly just taken a bath—her beautiful red hair was still damp, the faint scent of lavender lingering in the air. Her skin glowed with a fresh, delicate hue, like a peeled lychee kissed by steam, healthy and pink.
Droplets trickled from her cheeks down her slender neck, gliding along her collarbone before disappearing into the folds of her loose robe.
Lia frowned slightly. “Soren, I just got word. There’s going to be a grand council tomorrow to discuss strategies against the Void. I overheard my father mention that the old patriarch of the Saint-Spear Family, Modric, will be attending.”
A hint of concern crossed her face. “My father told me to warn you. Even though you defeated Edward with ease, Modric is far stronger. He’s the only person in Hydra—aside from Rosha—who has actually killed a Void Lord. Before Rosha appeared, Modric was the strongest man in the world. And he’s cold, ruthless, and incredibly cunning…”
Qin Xian raised an eyebrow. Able to kill a Void Lord?
That was no small feat. Void Lords were among the most powerful entities in the universe. Even on Blue Star, only a rare few could claim such a kill. Modric’s strength would easily place him among the top thirty across all worlds.
Qin Xian narrowed his eyes thoughtfully. It seemed Hydra truly had a deep foundation. It made sense—Hydra was a world of magic with a history stretching tens of thousands of years. In comparison, Blue Star’s rise had only begun a thousand years ago with the emergence of the System.
Yet in that time, Blue Star had become one of the most powerful civilizations in the cosmos, even rivaling the Void.
Qin Xian smiled faintly. “Thank you, Lia. I’ll be careful.”
His calm, confident demeanor radiated absolute certainty, as if Modric was no more than a passing challenge. That confidence made Lia’s heart flutter. Her gaze softened, her pupils dilating like she was falling in love.
Qin Xian also noticed her appearance—hair still wet, cheeks glowing, robe casually draped over her. She looked like a flower fresh from the rain, a vision of youthful allure mixed with a touch of innocence and temptation.
They looked at each other.
Lia’s face flushed deeper. A sweet, intoxicating tension built in the air, thick with unspoken desire. She gently bit her lower lip, her eyes shimmering with shyness and anticipation.
Qin Xian chuckled silently and leaned in to kiss her.
The world seemed to still. Lia’s heart pounded like a drum, heat rising to her face as a warm, dizzying sensation swept through her. Their kiss deepened, her body trembling slightly in his arms.
As someone well-versed in such moments, Qin Xian knew at a glance she was untouched. He was gentle, patient, peeling her open like silk.
Lia was dizzy, overwhelmed, her mind swirling like wine…
…
Afterward, she lay in his arms, holding him tightly, her face full of bliss. She had always liked him but never confessed. And now, after all the other noblewomen at the banquet shamelessly fawned over him—even some elf princesses—she’d felt threatened.
Qin Xian was more popular than she could’ve imagined. A powerful demigod, handsome and noble—a dream come true. And now, they had shared the most intimate bond. To her, that meant Qin Xian loved her too.
Heart fluttering, she couldn’t help but ask, “Soren… when will we be engaged?”
Qin Xian looked at her innocent, hopeful face and felt mildly amused. After a pause, he smiled and said, “When things are settled here in Hydra, I’ll take you with me, Lia. By then… I think you’ll like my homeland.”
Lia snuggled closer, beaming. “No matter where your homeland is, I’m sure I’ll love it.”
Qin Xian’s expression softened, but behind his gentle eyes, something darker flickered.
Is that so…
