Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System
Chapter 286 - 222: The Sky-Soaring LordAt a time like this, one couldn’t help but wonder about the legendary Dragon Knights of old. Did they need to recite a poem or bathe and burn incense before riding a dragon, just so that future generations could record the magnificent scene?
But the Lord was just a crude, simple man. He simply shook his head, casting aside such pointless thoughts, and swung himself onto the Silver Dragon’s back.
Contrary to what he had imagined, it wasn’t cold. Sophia’s back was surprisingly warm, like a small furnace.
This answered a question the Lord had: how Dragon Knights on their Flying Dragons didn’t freeze to death while flying at high altitudes and speeds.
He stroked the Scales. They were exceptionally smooth, refracting beautiful colors like glass.
"Awoo!"
The Three-headed Dog let out a cry, its body instantly shrinking to the size of a common mutt. It also wanted to climb onto Sophia’s back and curl up in the Lord’s arms.
"ROAR!"
A dragon’s roar echoed as Sophia, with a single swing of her tail, swatted away the Magical Beast that didn’t know its place.
"Hmph, a lowly Magical Beast wants to climb onto my back?" she snorted disdainfully.
She was Sophia Engsager Ledesma, a noble Silver Dragon, the third daughter of the renowned Silver Dragon Clan of Dragon Island.
’Therefore, letting him ride me isn’t a disgrace. On the contrary, when I return to my clan, I can boast about forming a pact with a handsome human Knight, and how we defeated evil together, saving countless innocent lives.’
’It will definitely make me, Sophia, the youngest dragon in Silver Dragon history to form a pact with a human Knight, leaving a significant mark in the epic history of Giant Dragons.’
She foolishly fantasized about the adoring gazes of the young dragons, feeling immensely satisfied.
If the Lord knew what she was thinking, he could only diagnose it as a classic case of Stockholm syndrome.
Biefeng’s body instantly swelled like a balloon until he was only slightly smaller than the Silver Dragon. His three heads let out angry, low growls, and his claws pawed at the snow, looking as if he was about to charge in for a fight at any moment.
"Worri, you idiot, you’ve got some real nerve!"
This stunned the Lord on the dragon’s back.
A Giant Dragon’s Long Wei was a very real thing. This was clear from how, even in her human form, Sophia could make horses restless and agitated just by walking past them.
A typical Magical Beast would piss itself in fear just at the sight of a Giant Dragon, tucking its tail and lying prostrate on the ground to await its fate.
It was like a cat seeing a tiger—a complete suppression based on their places in the natural order.
And yet, this Magical Beast he had subdued in the Magic Crystal Ore mine showed no fear of the Silver Dragon before him.
Unfortunately, his bluster lasted only two seconds. Sophia raised a claw and, with a single powerful swat, sent him flying. His massive body carved a wide trench in the snow.
The power of a Giant Dragon was on full display in that moment.
Even if Sophia was only a juvenile dragon, she was by no means a foe that a mere Magical Beast could challenge.
Besides, Sophia’s personality might be a bit cowardly, but her actual strength was nothing to scoff at.
"Don’t kill him! He’s a mount I, your Lord, went to great trouble to find," Levi stopped Sophia.
Sophia hadn’t even used her Dragon Breath yet. If she had, it was hard to say whether Biefeng could have withstood it.
The Three-headed Dog, so arrogant just moments before, no longer dared to look directly at this unfamiliar Giant Beast. It lowered its heads and whimpered at the Lord as if lodging a complaint.
"You just wait for us here," Levi instructed him.
The Magical Beast was highly intelligent and understood him perfectly.
"Alright, Sophia, let’s go."
Already buzzing with excitement, Levi adjusted his position, gripping the gaps between the palm-sized Scales in front of him. For the sake of ceremony, he yelled, "Fly!"
"ROAR!"
The Silver Dragon first let out a roar toward the sky, spread her pair of wide, beautiful Dragon Wings, and then gave a powerful flap.
Man and dragon shot up from the ground, rocketing toward the azure sky.
WHOOSH!
After reaching a sufficient altitude, the Silver Dragon flew alongside the clouds, bursting through one snow-white puff after another like an Arrow piercing the surface of the sea.
The whistling wind rushed past Levi’s ears, and the vast, boundless earth spread out beneath his feet.
Suddenly, Levi spotted an incredibly long mountain range. It was undoubtedly the Kas Mountain Range, but from this height, it looked no bigger than the palm of his hand.
It was a testament to just how high they were flying.
Logically, flying at such a high altitude and at extreme speed, Levi should have been frozen stiff.
But Sophia’s back provided him with warmth like a furnace. Besides, with his current physical fortitude, he could easily withstand this level of cold.
’That makes sense. If Giant Dragons didn’t have a special ability to keep warm, those Dragon Knights would have been frozen into popsicles long ago.’
After all, as far as Levi knew, not all Dragon Knights possessed incredible strength that made them impervious to heat and cold. A small number of them were ordinary people.
"Sophia, can you hear me?"
Because the sound of the rushing wind was so loud, Levi had to shout.
However, as it turned out, this action only served to expose his own rustic nature completely.
"Levi, I know the magic of Teleportation. As long as you lower your guard, I can hear what you’re thinking."
A voice identical to Sophia’s rang in his mind. Levi was startled at first, then thought with envy, ’You know so many kinds of Magic.’
"Hmph, well, I am the genius Dragon Maiden of Dragon Island," Sophia’s voice replied, full of pride.
’So, this is Teleportation.’
Levi thought, then directed Sophia to fly in a certain direction.
Under a sky of brilliant sunshine and white clouds, man and dragon flew rapidly northward.
...
Ash Wind Speech stood on the balcony of the Tribe’s palace, gazing into the distance. She knew that Fulina and Levi had gone south. The Wind Speech Tribe had suffered heavy losses and no longer had the ability to provide support.
Therefore, she could only offer help in the form of supplies, especially to the Lion Hunter Knight who had been such a great benefactor to the Wind Speech Tribe.
’But once the Tribe has completely stabilized, I can send a trade caravan to High Cliff Castle to set up a shop and deliver the supplies at the same time.’
"ROAR!"
Just as she was contemplating recent events, a dragon’s roar suddenly echoed from the sky.
Looking up, she saw a figure as small as a bird rapidly approaching from high above.
"It’s... a Giant Dragon!"
"Quick, protect Queen Aixi!"
Several Elf Guards on duty turned pale with fright and rushed over to surround Ash.
"Why would a Giant Dragon appear here?!"
Even Ash’s expression changed.
’What if this Giant Dragon is coming for the Wind Speech Tribe? Even at its peak, the Wind Speech Tribe wouldn’t dare claim it could handle a Giant Dragon, let alone now.’
Her heart sank.
"It flew away?"
"Could that Giant Dragon have just been passing through?"
"May the Holy Tree protect us. We can’t endure any more disasters."
Watching the Giant Dragon fly past the Wind Speech Tribe and into the distance, the Elf Warriors began to murmur amongst themselves, lowering their weapons.
Ash breathed a sigh of relief, but her heart remained heavy.
She had lived in the Wilderness for so long, yet this was the first time she had ever seen a Giant Dragon. This was definitely not good news.
Suddenly, she remembered something.
There was a rumor that the Lion Hunter Knight had fought a Giant Dragon.
When she had first heard it from Fulina, she had dismissed it as a joke. Since she had never seen a Giant Dragon in all her time in the Wilderness, neither of them had taken it seriously.
But now, she couldn’t help but wonder. ’Could it be that Levi really did fight off a Giant Dragon back then, and now it has come seeking revenge?’
After all, Giant Dragons were famous for being petty.
With a panicked expression, she gathered her dress and hurried back into the palace, preparing to write a letter to warn the Lion Hunter Knight.
Levi had no idea what the Elves below were thinking, though he guessed it was most likely shock. At this moment, his heart and soul were filled with immense satisfaction.
He then told Sophia to circle around and fly back to High Cliff Castle.
