Planet Vs Aliens: Space User Saves the World
Chapter 136: Rescuing More AlliesThey decided to check on the scientists this time. They hadn’t bothered before because it was too early and they didn’t have proof that the disaster was happening.
They didn’t want to force anyone to come with them because that would risk disgruntlement, which could not only affect work, but also loyalty.
Talents were great, but what use would that be if they couldn’t fully trust them?
What if they encountered idiots who’d unilaterally believe they got kidnapped so they could work endlessly, like a slave? Considering how literally isolated the space was, this kind of thinking was actually possible.
They chose one of the military jeeps as a ride this time. It also had a third layer of seating so the three kids could comfortably lounge around back there.
They found an alley, and Naia summoned the car inside, making it appear as if it had been there all along.
They hadn’t even gone far when a woman suddenly appeared from the side, knocking on the driver’s window. She looked haggard, but quite pretty. Her apricot-shaped eyes looked at the driver—whom she could not see—with pleading eyes.
Naia was watching with interest while Kael was wondering whether to run her over.
It was just that two more people appeared in front of the car. They also looked pitiful and ready to ask for help, but they still held some aura of pride. They would ask, but they were not at the state of begging yet.
This was in stark contrast to the woman knocking on the window. "Can we follow you, please?"
She was now missing a shoe, several buttons on her shirt were open, and she looked pretty and pitiful.
"I will do anything, please~"
The other two grimaced. It was somewhat obvious that they did not have any friendship at all with this woman.
While this was going on, there were also many other people who were attracted by their noise. Their eyes lit up in hope, as if they had found rescuers.
"Please! Please take me to the hospital! I will pay you 1000 danas for the trip!"
"So would I! No, I am bleeding to death. Prioritize me!"
And so on. By now, several people from the building were there, dragging their feet to them.
Naia and Kael looked at each other and sighed. It wasn’t that they were completely against running people over. It was just that it was not necessary for now. There was no need to go on a murder spree just because they were impatient.
The two of them opened the door, with Kael not even caring that he pushed back the woman and she fell down on her bum. The woman wanted to curse, but when she lifted her head, she found herself gaping at the handsome man.
She immediately let out her charming and pitiful self, turning and was about to touch his pants. Kael deftly avoided it, looking at her in disgust.
"Dirty."
"..."
Naia giggled at the side, though her expression turned more serious when she faced the refugees again.
"I’m heading to Sora town...can you drop me by?
"Please take me to the nearest hospital or clinic. I’m not choosy!" another said.
"Please help us!"
This was something they had expected, but they were definitely capping the amount of assistance they could give to strangers. If it was just a minor inconvenience in exchange for lives, they could do it, but if their own lives could be at risk—as it is now, considering what would come next—then there was no way they would do so.
"We’re heading straight to the capital to our families, and we can’t go out of our way to help you."
"You can follow us, but don’t expect us to protect you or wait for you."
The woman, depressed at Kael’s reaction to her, frowned as she looked at her. "Why are you deciding for everyone?" she asked, her tone reprimanding, her eyes fixed at Kael as if she had read his thoughts.
Kael, however, was just gazing at Naia with a fond expression on her face.
"..."
Naia looked at her. "And why not? You’re not thinking we’d listen to you, right, Auntie?"
"AUNTIE!?" She was only 27 years old!! "You brat—" but she stopped herself. Wasn’t calling the other girl a ’brat’ making her point?!
"You’re too young to make such decisions. This is a matter of life and death. Please take things more seriously! The world isn’t as simple as you think, and you need to drink a lot more milk to mature!"
Naia touched her own soft and smooth face.
Well, to be fair, she was nineteen now and really did look her age except for having some additional curves here and there. But this was too blatant age discrimination, right?
Was this the legendary green tea bitch from novels and dramas? They really exist?
She looked at everyone. "We really can’t help everyone. There is no time," she said. "The earthquake was caused by a number of meteorites falling."
They had seen the meteor shower before, and many of them realized they were getting close. Though they were not close to an explosion, people could surmise the cause and effect.’
"There will be more disasters coming," she handed a copy of the book to Samantha and another to the other group from the building. "If I were you, I’d read these and find a good place to settle down and hide. So far, what has happened so far is accurate."
"And as we are in a hurry, kindly don’t block our way," she said. "Or we will run over you."
They didn’t waste any more time and got inside the car, locking it from the inside to prevent people from sneaking in (there were quite a few who tried).
Kael started the engine, and the rumbling sound echoed in the area. He pressed the accelerator while the handbrake was on, as if to shoo those in front of them away.
Most of them did, including the shapely blonde couple from earlier. But there were also stubborn ones, including the woman. At some point, more buttons had been released, revealing more of her shapely curves.
Marcus, sitting in the middle row, sighed and shook his head, while the kids at the back found things interesting and opened their windows a bit. For a while, all people heard were their childish voices.
"Auntie! Why are you undressing?"
"Grandma! Don’t do it! My Grandpa said that only shameless people do that!"
"No, no. I heard neighborhood grandmas call them hussies. They want to get something for free."
"..."
These brats!
Naia watched the little ones chirp and echo each other. While amused, she was more bemused. How old were these kids? They looked like they had eavesdropped on too many aunties gossiping!
"Look! Look! She’s winking at big brother Kael!" Little Riri, the youngest among the three, continued with a little gasp.
This made the woman’s eye twitch in a way that was not a wink. She habitually scooted near Arthur, the nearest handsome man, as if to ask for help.
"Look! She’s getting closer to handsome, tanned brother!"
"Doesn’t he have a girlfriend?"
"I heard about this! Green Tong!"
"No, it’s Green Tea, stupid!"
Green tea, a colloquial term referring to a woman who pretended to be weak and gentle, but could easily push you down a building if you harm her interests.
The woman’s face turned so red it looked like a baboon’s butt. "You!!"
Naia wondered how these kids got so erudite? The youngest one was three years old, the oldest not even six.
Which auntie did they learn these from?
She couldn’t help but think of Linlin. If Linlin knew what she was thinking she’d stomp her feet in annoyance.
It wasn’t her!
They got it from all those face-slap dramas they watched!
"Don’t mind the kids. They’re just a bit blunt," she said, and then Kael finally drove off, leaving everyone else to dust.
At times, safety and peace wait for no one.
...
The group arrived at the laboratory half an hour later. They had to detour a few times before finally arriving.
Fortunately, the small building was still intact, though they were not sure about the people inside. They already had copies of the equipment in the space, so the equipment the engineers were using was there. If anyone was trapped between those machines, they would likely be crushed to death.
After entering the codes, they opened the door to see the once-organized laboratory pretty much turned over its head. Worse, it was indeed bloody. They rushed to help them out, and Naia took out several adults as well.
There were a dozen scientists and engineers (including interns) in this laboratory. Out of that dozen, two were already dead, while another two were critically injured.
Interestingly, there were three people who looked relatively unharmed.
They were wearing some of the armor prototypes.
Naia smiled. "Well, at least we’re sure it works well." Didn’t think they’d test it so soon, but all was well.
