Kalos. Lumiose City.

Deep underground, hidden far beneath the bustling streets, lay the secret base of Team Flare.

In the center of this massive cavern stood a towering, crystalline structure.

It was the core of the Ultimate Weapon, excavated by Team Flare from Geosenge Town and transported here in secret.

And suspended above it, bound by restrictive energy chains, was the Destruction Pokémon: Yveltal.

"Report!"

A Team Flare grunt shouted from a console.

"Calculations are complete! We now have the optimal conditions to initiate the Ultimate Weapon!"

"Sir, please give the instruction!"

Team Flare's lead scientist, Xerosic, turned to report to the man standing high on the command platform.

"Begin the operation."

Lysandre waved his hand, his eyes burning with fanaticism.

"Yes, sir!"

"Initiating now!"

Under Xerosic's command, the Team Flare scientists activated the massive machines.

A deep, resonant hum echoed through the base. Strange, pulsating light waves shot out, striking the bound Yveltal.

"SKREEEEE!!!!"

The trapped Yveltal let out a shrill, agonized screech.

Using Yveltal as a living battery, the machines began to extract its dark aura.

Black and red energy radiated from the Legendary bird's body, funneling directly into the core of the Ultimate Weapon.

As the energy was injected, the gigantic, crystalline structure began to hum, slowly awakening from its slumber.

Standing beside Lysandre on the platform was Malva, the Fire-type Elite Four member of the Kalos Region.

She looked down at the busy laboratory, with obvious worry written on her face.

"Will this plan really go smoothly?" Malva asked quietly.

"If we do this, there is no turning back. And if he intervenes..."

Lysandre didn't look at her. He kept his eyes fixed on the Ultimate Weapon.

"Do not worry," Lysandre said enthusiastically.

"I have reached an agreement with Giovanni. He will hold Sam off for us. Nothing will interrupt the cleansing of this world."

Hearing this, Malva fell silent. She looked at Yveltal, who was being treated as nothing more than an energy converter.

Despite Lysandre's confidence, a lingering sense of dread gnawed at her heart.

Hoenn Region. Route 127.

A sleek, high-speed Team Aqua submarine was diving deep into the abyssal trench.

The man sitting in the captain's chair was Archie, the leader of Team Aqua.

"Report! Three hundred meters to the target coordinates!"

"Report! Two hundred meters!"

"One hundred meters!"

"Arrived at destination!"

As his subordinates called out the depth, Archie leaned forward in his seat.

He stared out the thick glass of the submarine's viewport, peering into the pitch-black trench.

There, resting on the ocean floor, was the Sea Basin Pokémon: Kyogre.

Seeing Kyogre again, Archie's expression became extremely frantic. He pressed his hand against the cold glass.

"Kyogre... God of the Sea," Archie murmured, his eyes wide.

"Your cyan body is so beautiful! Even though this isn't the first time I've seen you, I still fall for you!"

"The world says I'm crazy for chasing you..." Archie whispered, a twisted smile spreading across his face.

"But the truth is, I'm already crazy because of you!"

Archie slammed his fist against the console.

"Wake up, Kyogre! Enter your true Primal form! Let the sea drown this ruined world!"

Archie turned to his crew.

"Action!"

"Yes, boss!"

The crew operated the submarine's payload bay.

Pfft!

A specialized torpedo tube fired. But it wasn't a weapon.

It was the Blue Orb, specifically altered and processed by Team Rocket's technology.

Deep in its slumber, Kyogre felt the aura of the Blue Orb approaching.

Its massive yellow eyes snapped open in the dark water.

It looked at the orb shooting toward it, emitting a mesmerizing, coquettish blue light.

Kyogre recognized the aura. It was a part of its ancient power.

Instinct told the Sea God that if it absorbed this orb, it would return to its absolute strongest state.

But Kyogre hesitated. The energy radiating from this specific orb was not pure.

There was a foreign, synthetic substance coating the periphery of the ancient artifact.

Inside the submarine, Archie stared unblinking at the Leviathan.

"Swallow it, Kyogre," Archie muttered desperately.

"Swallow the treasure! It won't just return you to your Primal form... it will make you even stronger! Take it..."

Under Archie's expectant, fanatic gaze, Kyogre hesitated for a moment longer... before opening its massive jaws and swallowing the orb.

The moment the Blue Orb submerged into Kyogre's body, the ocean floor erupted.

Kyogre thrashed violently, the sea churning wildly around it.

Its yellow eyes suddenly turned a vicious, blood-red!

High above, on the surface of the ocean, the sky instantly blackened.

A torrential downpour began.

The turbulent sea rolled up into massive, skyscraper-sized waves, looking as if they intended to swallow the world whole.

Hoenn Region. The Summit of Mt. Chimney.

Maxie, the leader of Team Magma, stood dangerously close to the edge of the boiling volcanic crater.

He adjusted his glasses, looking down at the bubbling lava with scorching intensity.

After a moment, he opened a specialized, heat-resistant briefcase. Inside rested a glowing, crimson artifact.

The Red Orb.

Without hesitation, Maxie threw the orb directly into the boiling lava below.

As the magma swallowed the orb, the volcano trembled violently.

A tyrannical, suffocating pressure rose from the depths, shooting straight into the sky.

The clouds above Mt. Chimney instantly burned away.

The sunlight intensified, becoming blindingly harsh and unbearably hot, triggering a region-wide drought.

"Awaken... Groudon!"

Maxie threw his arms wide, his face twisted in a frenzy as he shouted into the crater.

"Transform back into your strongest, most furious Primal Reversion form! Go and fight your ancient enemy! Mess up this world as much as you want! Expand the land!"

"ROOOAAAR!!!!!"

A deafening roar shook the mountain to its core.

From the churning lava, the massive, jagged head of the Continent Pokémon emerged.

However, unlike the legends... Groudon's glowing yellow eyes had turned a completely unnatural, blood-red.
