Sabrina, was currently locked in a fierce training match with Diantha.
"Alakazam! Psybeam!"
"Gardevoir! Psyshock!"
The frequent, high-speed clashes of mental power filled the air with an indescribable, heavy fluctuation.
The sheer psychic pressure was palpable.
Sitting lazily on a bench near the edge of the battlefield, Cynthia watched them with a hint of envy.
She leaned against Sam and pouted.
"Sigh... I really want to join them for a Double Battle. But none of them will play with me..."
Sam reached up and rubbed his forehead, sighing heavily.
Cynthia gave him a blank look. "What?"
"The reason they won't play with you isn't because they're leaving you out," Sam said dryly.
"It's because you show off Zekrom all day long."
For the past two days, whenever she had free time, Cynthia would actively hunt down the others in the house to battle.
The problem was that Zekrom was simply too much for regular training to handle.
Zekrom was not a fair sparring partner. No one in the villa was currently a match for Cynthia when she used it.
Over time, Diantha, Sabrina, and even the battle-hungry Red had collectively refused to fight her.
"Hehe"
Cynthia gave a mischievous smirk, her mood completely unaffected.
"Well, I caught Zekrom. Am I not allowed to be happy? Besides, even if Zekrom is a Legend, it still needs to train, doesn't it?"
Sam rolled his eyes. "I never expected you to frame 'bullying' in such a fresh and refined way."
"Bullying? Me? Never"
Cynthia, having her true intentions seen through, hugged Sam's arm and activated her charm.
She leaned in close, whispering directly into his ear.
"I already have everything I want," she purred.
"I don't need to pretend."
Sam froze for a second, feeling the warmth of her breath against his neck.
Seeing Sam momentarily speechless, Cynthia laughed out loud.
Out on the field, the battle was in full swing. The two women's skill levels were very close, making it an excellent sparring session.
Just as the match reached its climax, Diantha suddenly lost her focus.
Seeing the momentary lapse in concentration, Sabrina seized the gap.
Her Alakazam launched a blistering, thunderous Focus Blast, catching Gardevoir off guard and knocking it out of the sky.
The battle was immediately halted.
Diantha hadn't lost focus due to fatigue. Her phone was ringing.
She pulled it from her pocket and answered.
"Hello? ... Yes, I understand."
Diantha's elegant face fell.
"Alright. I'm heading back now."
After hanging up, Diantha had a strange, troubled expression on her face. She recalled her Gardevoir silently.
Cynthia immediately noticed that something was wrong with her best friend. She stood up from the bench and walked over.
"What's wrong, Diantha? What happened?"
Diantha frowned, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
"That was a call from the Kalos Alliance Headquarters. They told me I need to return immediately. I have to deal with some 'urgent matters.'"
With the World Coronation Series approaching, Diantha naturally wanted to devote all her time to training here in Celestic Town.
But she was the Champion of the Kalos Region, and the Grand Duchess.
She had heavy responsibilities to her people.
"I see," Cynthia said, her tone sympathetic. As a Champion herself, she understood that duty often interrupted life.
"Then you should head back. Take care of whatever it is, and come back as soon as you can."
"I will."
Diantha nodded. She pulled out her phone and quickly booked a flight back to Lumiose City.
"By the way, Diantha," Cynthia called out, raising an eyebrow with a playful, confident smile.
"If you run into any trouble you can't handle... remember to call me!"
Cynthia patted the Poké Ball holding her new Dragon God.
"After all, I am a Trainer who has subdued two Legendary Pokémon now."
"Alright, alright..." Diantha smiled, rolling her eyes at Cynthia's boasting.
"If the sky starts falling, you'll be the first person I call."
Diantha turned and headed inside to pack her bags.
But little did anyone know, Diantha's sudden recall to the Kalos Region was not a coincidence.
It was the first sign of a massive, dark conspiracy spanning two regions, quietly taking shape.
