Since they had said that, Julian could only send his underlings back.
"Go back and train properly. Find more Caterpie and Wurmple and protect them. We can’t allow Butterfree’s source of soldiers to be cut off."
Although there seemed to be many Butterfree and Beautifly, compared to the Beedrill battle group next door, the number of Butterfree was far too small.
"Boss, we’re not leaving!"
"Rather than us going back, it’s better for us to sacrifice ourselves so you can return alive. Only if you live does Butterfree have hope."
The senior Butterfree smiled.
"I didn’t expect you to be so loved by your underlings. It’s been a long time since we had a Butterfree with this kind of organisational ability."
"Compared to Beedrill, we Butterfree really don’t look after our young very well. I hope you survive the month."
Julian’s arrival did not attract much attention from the other Butterfree.
They were too lazy to even look at him.
In contrast, on the Beedrill side, whenever a team of Beedrill appeared, an older Beedrill would go forward and explain how to survive on the Bug-type battlefield.
Julian had thought this simulation had given him an easy script.
He thought his main mission was to compete with Beedrill for territory.
Unexpectedly, it was an endless battlefield.
He did not know whether he could survive a month.
Caw, caw, caw.
Accompanied by Murkrow cries, the conflict of the endless battlefield began again.
All the Butterfree resting on tree trunks took flight.
The Bug-type Pokémon were led by three red mosquitoes with bulging muscles.
Buzzwole.
On the bird Pokémon’s side, charging at the very front were three orange-red land birds.
Galarian Zapdos.
In the sky above the opposing side, three large birds burning with pitch-black flames appeared.
Galarian Moltres.
On the Bug-type side, three suns suddenly rose.
Volcarona moved out to face Galarian Moltres.
Since Zapdos and Moltres had appeared, the remaining one would naturally not be absent.
A purple psychic beam fired out, and a large group of bugs stiffened and fell to the ground. They had no wounds, but silently died.
One cannon blast after another fired into the flock of birds, blasting feathers into the sky.
Steel divine insects covered in purple alloy armour attacked.
Five Genesect surrounded three Galarian Articuno.
The Butterfree who had welcomed Julian earlier fired a Psybeam at the opposing side.
"Remember to stay away from them!"
Before Julian could answer, a Pidgeot swooped down at him.
He hurriedly scattered Stun Spore.
Pidgeot spun in the air and struck Butterfree down with one wing.
The violent force knocked Butterfree unconscious.
When he woke again, the sky was already bright.
He pushed away the thing pressing down on him.
It happened to be a Pidgeot.
He ate Pidgeot where he lay, and Julian discovered that the war had already stopped.
Both sides were cleaning the battlefield.
The bugs carried away dead birds.
The birds carried away dead bugs.
If Butterfree had not woken up, the nearby Dodrio would have eaten him after finishing its Beedrill.
Seeing Butterfree awake, Dodrio silently went to find other prey.
When he returned to camp, the senior Butterfree flew over again.
"I thought you were dead. Didn’t expect you to survive."
"What about my underlings?"
"Over there. Three Butterfree and one Beautifly are left. Your luck is all decent."
Half had died on the first day.
Julian found them.
"Go back. You can’t do anything here. Go back, find more Caterpie and Wurmple, and have more offspring."
"If you find Berries, remember to plant the seeds inside the way I taught you."
Julian’s expression was serious.
The surviving Butterfree and Beautifly could only leave the battlefield, looking back every few steps.
Julian found the senior.
"Why are we fighting bird Pokémon? And why only at night? During the day, both sides..."
Butterfree shook his head.
"No idea. That’s just how it’s always been. Fight for a month, rest for a month. Not just us. The birds on the other side do the same."
Julian frowned slightly.
This battlefield felt like fighting for the sake of fighting.
Butterfree suddenly encouraged him.
"If you want to know, go ask the Pheromosa who conscripted you. She definitely knows."
Pheromosa was surrounded by a group of Cutiefly and Ribombee, who were providing simple treatment to the surviving Bug-type Pokémon.
For some reason, Julian really did go and ask.
After all, his chances of surviving tonight’s battle were not high.
At worst, he would just die a day early.
Pheromosa looked at him coldly and said, "Survive a year, and you’ll naturally know why."
How strong would someone have to be to survive a whole year in a battle of this intensity?
The question was not completely wasted.
Pheromosa directly had a Ribombee give him a Pollen Puff to restore his stamina.
When Julian returned, the senior Butterfree looked at him with a grin.
"Good luck. In the past, anyone who asked that kind of question would at least get kicked. I didn’t expect you to avoid being kicked and even get a Pollen Puff."
Julian was not angry.
"Can you teach me some techniques for surviving a month?"
"Luck. Strength. Nothing else."
Perhaps his luck really was decent.
Julian miraculously survived half a month on a battlefield full of birds of prey.
His level rose to 45.
When he looked again at the Butterfree who had seemed calm and composed ever since he arrived, he still could not see through the other side’s strength.
"I’m leaving. Tomorrow, the other side will also rotate out a large number of troops. The most dangerous half-month has passed. You should be able to survive until rotation."
But as soon as that Butterfree left, Julian immediately discovered that the intensity of the war had risen by a large margin.
How could he not understand?
That Butterfree had been protecting him in secret the entire time.
After another difficult half-month, Julian thought he would die on the last day of the endless battlefield.
Unexpectedly, he left alive.
On the way back to his home territory, Julian was still dazed.
As Butterfree drank sweet maple syrup, his vision suddenly went black.
[This simulation has ended]
[Simulation evaluation: A]
[Calculating rewards...]
[Reward calculation complete]
[A-rank evaluation. Attribute rewards obtained: Bug-type Affinity +0.5, Beginner Psychic Constitution]
Julian was surprised.
He had done a Bug-type simulation, yet the reward he received was Beginner Psychic Constitution?
[Item rewards obtained: Poison Barb (raises the holder’s Poison-type ability), Razor Claw (raises the holder’s critical-hit ability), Sharp Beak (raises the holder’s Flying-type ability), Confusion TM (reusable), 1 ton of high-grade maple syrup]
The rewards from an A-rank evaluation were so much better than a B-rank.
What rubbish had B-rank given him?
[A-rank evaluation. You may remove half of the types from the next random type selection]
[Time remaining until next simulation: 6 days, 23 hours, 58 minutes, 34 seconds]
"System, why does the attribute reward include Beginner Psychic Constitution?"
[Simulation rewards are determined by the simulation score and the host’s behaviour as the simulated Pokémon within the simulation scenario]
"Also, Butterfree didn’t die. Why did the simulation end?"
[Simulations have a time limit. The host must achieve an S-rank evaluation within the limited time]
[Issuing Beginner Psychic Constitution to the host]
Julian immediately felt dizzy.
When he opened his eyes again, the sky was already bright.
He seemed to have gained an additional sense for the environment around him.
Subconsciously, he reached towards the cup on the desk.
The cup actually flew off the desk, landed on the floor, and shattered.
Julian’s eyes widened.
"This is telekinesis!"
If Beginner Psychic Constitution was already this amazing, wouldn’t a Perfect Psychic Constitution be invincible?
