Pokémon: My Parallel World Daughters Revealed

Chapter 23: Mega Blastoise vs Mega Steelix

[VIP Chat Group]

[Professor Sycamore]: It’s happening! Mega Evolution!!!

[Misty]: I’m finally seeing it with my own eyes... Blastoise’s Mega Evolution.

[Ash]: Aaaaaah! I’m so excited!!!

[Gary]: What are you so excited about?! You’re not the one Mega Evolving!

[Ash]: I can still be excited!!!

Light flooded the battlefield, transforming it into a sea of intertwined gold and blue.

Within the radiance, Blastoise’s body began undergoing a dramatic transformation.

Its shell grew thicker and sturdier, while the two cannons on its back merged into a single enormous cannon that towered over its head. The barrel gleamed with a cold metallic sheen.

Two small brown shells formed over its arms, each containing a compact water cannon. They tightened slightly as the muscles beneath them expanded.

The muscles beneath its blue skin became more defined, and its already powerful limbs grew even stronger, firmly supporting the additional weight.

Boom!

The moment Mega Blastoise completed its transformation, a ring of web-like cracks spread across the ground beneath its feet.

It straightened its body and aimed all three cannons at Steelix, blue light gathering within their barrels.

Brock stared at the scene in silence for several seconds before releasing a sigh.

"Misty and Asher really have given me a difficult problem."

"However..."

He pulled his own Key Stone from beneath his collar, and multicolored light illuminated the falling rain.

"I can’t allow the younger generation to shine alone."

The Key Stone blazed with light.

"Steelix, Mega Evolve!"

Steelix threw back its head and roared as multicolored radiance enveloped its body.

Energy spread along each segment of its spine, and blue hexagonal patterns of energy appeared around its joints.

The short, blunt spikes on both sides of each body segment stretched and lengthened within the light. They gradually became crystal clear, refracting rainbow-colored halos.

Steelix’s already dense armor became even more compact. Fragments of stone broke away and floated within the surrounding energy field, circling its body before being drawn back toward it.

Steelix swung its tail, and the spike at its tip transformed into a sharp crystalline blade. Every steel scale gleamed with a cold metallic light, as though its body alone could tear cracks through the air.

The two Mega-Evolved Pokémon faced each other from opposite ends of the battlefield.

[Regular-Seat Chat Group]

"Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap!"

"They both Mega Evolved! What kind of battle between gods is this?!"

"I’m kneeling! Is this really a Gym battle involving a ten-year-old girl?!"

"This is more exciting than a Pokémon League Conference!"

"Watch your language, person above! But you’re right! This is ridiculous!"

"So this is the power of bonds... Damn it, this is so exciting!"

[VIP Chat Group]

[Ash]: Waaaaah! This is incredible! They both Mega Evolved!!!

[Ash]: Ow! Pikachu, stop shocking me!

[Bruno]: This is the power of bonds! True bonds! When the hearts of a Trainer and Pokémon become one, they can unleash power that surpasses their limits!!!

[Lance]: Why have you been talking so much today, Bruno?

[Bruno]: Because my blood is boiling, Lance! Aren’t you excited?!

[Lance]: ...I’m alright.

[Wallace]: Steven, what do you think?

[Steven]: I’m watching while standing.

[Wallace]: ...I meant, what do you think of the battle?

[Steven]: It’s very exciting.

[Wallace]: ...

[Barry]: I’m fining them! I’m fining them! Why are they still staring at each other?! Hurry up and battle! I’ve already waited seven whole seconds!

[Dawn]: Calm down, Barry. The confrontation before a battle is important too.

[Barry]: I know it’s important! But—Ah! Steelix moved!

On the screen, Brock was the first to issue a command.

"Steelix, use Stone Edge!"

Mega Steelix threw back its head and roared as the crystalline spikes surrounding its body lit up simultaneously.

The next second, the battlefield erupted—not from a single direction, but from every side.

Countless crystalline spikes, thicker and sharper than those before them, burst from the ground and closed in around Blastoise like the petals of a crystal flower folding shut.

"Blastoise, smash them with Rapid Spin!" Raina shouted.

Mega Blastoise leaped into the air and began spinning, shattering every crystalline spike approaching from the front.

Crystal fragments scattered through the rain, reflecting countless tiny points of light as though a glowing shower were falling across the battlefield.

Brock remained composed.

"Interesting. Steelix, use Rock Blast. Aim for where it’s going to land!"

Steelix slammed its tail against the ground.

A crack raced toward Blastoise’s predicted landing point, and a scorching red glow surged from within the fissure.

"Blastoise, use Hydro Pump on the ground!"

While still in midair, Blastoise adjusted its angle and fired all three cannons toward the battlefield below.

The tremendous recoil dramatically slowed its descent, while the curtain of water thrown up by the attack completely obscured Steelix’s vision.

By the time the water cleared, Blastoise had landed firmly on the opposite side of the field, all three cannons once again aimed at Steelix.

"Engaging Blastoise in a long-range battle would not be a wise decision."

Brock considered the situation briefly before raising his head.

"Steelix, use Dig!"

Steelix plunged into the ground once more, causing the entire battlefield to tremble.

This time, however, Raina did not panic.

"Blastoise, fire Hydro Pump into the hole!"

Mega Blastoise aimed all three cannons at the dark tunnel Steelix had entered and fired three streams of water into it, completely flooding the entrance.

The water surged through the underground passage and crashed against its rocky walls, producing a muffled rumbling like distant thunder.

The next moment, Steelix burst from the ground on the other side of the battlefield.

Water covered its entire body, and streams continued pouring from the gaps between its crystalline spikes.

Clearly, the pressure of the water had interfered with its sense of direction underground.

Brock stroked his chin.

"That was a good response."

"Very clever."

Brock nodded before the smile disappeared from his face.

"But cleverness alone isn’t enough. Steelix, use Hyper Beam!"

Steelix opened its mouth and fired a beam filled with destructive energy directly at Blastoise.

"Blastoise, counter it with Hydro Cannon!"

The main cannon on Mega Blastoise’s back and the smaller cannons on its arms began charging simultaneously, brilliant blue light swelling within their barrels.

All three cannons fired at once.

Three tremendous blasts of water converged in midair, merging into a single column even thicker than Steelix’s Hyper Beam.

Hydro Cannon and Hyper Beam collided.

Boom——!!!

The two different energies struggled against each other for less than a second before the column of water completely overwhelmed the orange-yellow beam and continued surging toward Steelix.

Steelix swung the crystalline blade at the tip of its tail in front of its body and used it to withstand the attack head-on.

The greatly weakened Hydro Cannon struck its tail, leaving only a shallow white mark across its surface.

Even after taking the attack directly, Mega Steelix appeared largely unaffected.

"Blastoise’s Hydro Cannon certainly possesses astonishing power," Brock called from the opposite side of the field. "But Mega Steelix’s defenses will not be broken so easily."

Raina stared at the still-imposing Steelix and bit her lip.

Rainwater rolled down her bangs and dripped onto her tightly clenched fist.

Then she took a deep breath.

"Blastoise, charge forward."

Mega Blastoise froze briefly before glancing back at Raina.

"Trust me," Raina said.

Blastoise nodded and charged toward Steelix without hesitation.

Brock frowned.

"Oh? You’re willingly abandoning your long-range advantage?"

Raina did not answer.

She merely stared at Steelix, repeatedly replaying the previous exchanges in her mind.

The steel armor covering Steelix’s body was its hardest defense. Ordinary attacks could not leave even the slightest mark upon it.

Then where else could they attack?

She continued thinking.
