Four energy spheres detonated in succession, instantly plunging the battlefield into chaos.

The one fired at the Legendary Birds missed entirely—its target too distant, allowing the three to evade with ease.

The energy sphere aimed at Kai and Misty was intercepted by Gengar's Shadow Ball, while the remaining shockwave was absorbed by Gardevoir's psychic barrier, leaving the two Trainers completely unharmed.

Only the two energy spheres directed at Team Aqua and Team Magma caused real damage.

With their numbers packed tightly together—and never expecting the "prey" to strike first—many members were caught in the blast despite their frantic attempts to dodge. Several were thrown off their feet, Pokémon and Trainers alike scattered by the explosions.

The moment marked the true beginning of the chaotic melee.

Both Tabitha and Shelly were fortunate enough to avoid injury. After quickly assessing their respective casualties—thankfully still within acceptable limits—they realized they could no longer afford hesitation.

Almost simultaneously, the two commanders issued their orders.

Strangely enough, despite being sworn enemies, Team Magma and Team Aqua temporarily set aside their hostility, choosing not to attack one another.

Instead, both sides focused their attention on Kai and Deoxys.

One was the man who had repeatedly sabotaged their plans—someone who could not be ignored.

The other was a Pokémon of unimaginable power. If captured, it would grant either organization an overwhelming advantage when facing Groudon or Kyogre in the future.

The lake water began rushing into the massive crater created by the Three-Bird combination attack. In just moments, water levels dropped noticeably, while much of the battlefield turned into thick, slippery mud.

Before long, the entire area would be flooded.

No one paid it any mind.

At Shelly's and Tabitha's command, all units advanced.

Flashes of blue light filled the air as nearly every grunt released two or three Pokémon at once.

In an instant, both mountain slopes were packed with Water- and Fire-type Pokémon.

There was no reserve force—both teams intended to overwhelm the battlefield through sheer numbers.

Crude, outdated tactics.

Yet sometimes, simplicity was exactly what made a strategy effective.

Seeing half of the enemy forces rushing toward him, Kai no longer hesitated. He hurled the two Ultra Balls in his hand.

Raikou and Suicune materialized at his sides.

Fortunately, their typings—Electric and Water—were perfectly suited to counter the opposing factions.

With a swift gesture, Kai sent Raikou charging toward Team Aqua, while Suicune intercepted Team Magma.

Electric against Water.

Water against Fire.

Perfect matchups.

Still, even Legendary Pokémon couldn't withstand sustained focus fire forever.

That was why Kai had prepared thoroughly.

Reaching into his belt, he drew four more Poké Balls and threw them forward.

Charizard. Venusaur. Blastoise. Jolteon.

The partners who had fought beside him throughout Kanto stood proudly once more.

Blastoise, Venusaur, and Jolteon—transported from Cerise Park along with Red Gyarados.

Charizard—returned to his side after time spent growing stronger in the Charicific Valley.

With his old team reunited, Kai was at the peak of his strength.

Even the Elite Four would think twice before challenging him now.

Through telepathy, Kai instructed the Legendary Birds to pull back slightly—maintaining pressure on Deoxys while conserving their remaining strength and avoiding interference from the two Teams.

Gardevoir and Gengar remained behind to guard Kai and Misty.

The rest were sent forward to reinforce Raikou and Suicune.

Charizard and Blastoise surged toward Team Magma.

Jolteon and Venusaur rushed to support Raikou against Team Aqua.

The four-way battle had officially begun.

Team Aqua vs Kai

Team Aqua's Pokémon—Sealeo, Crawdaunt, and a handful of Pelipper—were the first to clash with Raikou.

Dozens of Water Gun attacks fired simultaneously.

Raikou leapt away, electricity crackling around its body, preparing to channel its power through the water—

Only for Crawdaunt to rush in, claws snapping.

Forced to reposition again, Raikou found itself under constant harassment.

Annoying.

Then—

Two thick Vine Whips lashed out, shattering the water streams midair.

Venusaur and Jolteon arrived.

With allies at its side, Raikou finally unleashed its full power.

Lightning tore through the battlefield.

Any Water-type struck by Raikou's electricity was immediately incapacitated.

Meanwhile, Jolteon, smaller and faster, darted through the flooded terrain like a yellow blur, striking from unexpected angles.

Venusaur, slower but immensely durable, anchored the formation—methodically crushing enemies that dared approach.

Yet numbers still posed a problem.

Several Aqua Pokémon slipped through, charging straight toward Kai and Misty.

Gengar and Gardevoir stepped forward—

But Misty acted first.

Together, Misty's Pokémon joined the defensive line, engaging Team Aqua head-on.

On the opposite side, Suicune, Charizard, and Blastoise clashed with Team Magma's forces.

Houndoom, Mightyena, Camerupt, Magcargo—Fire everywhere.

Suicune fought with calm precision, its water attacks elegant yet devastating.

Blastoise acted as a mobile fortress, twin cannons blasting down anything that approached.

Charizard dominated the skies.

Golbat swarmed Suicune, harassing it from afar with Air Slash and Supersonic.

Charizard dove like a comet, scattering them effortlessly.

Its time in the Charicific Valley had paid off—larger, stronger, sharper.

One Golbat was caught midair, crushed in Charizard's claws, and tossed aside without ceremony.

With the air clear, Suicune unleashed its full strength, waves surging forward and washing over Team Magma's Pokémon.

Despite Kai's advantage, the enemy numbers were overwhelming.

Some Pokémon inevitably slipped past, targeting Kai directly.

Pressure mounted.

Kai frowned and issued a retreat order—his frontline falling back toward him in coordinated fashion.

Scanning the battlefield, Kai noticed something important.

Team Magma had begun diverting forces toward him, abandoning their assault on Deoxys.

Tabitha was making her move.

Meanwhile, Team Aqua did the same, redirecting fighters to support Shelly's push against Deoxys.

Their greed was splitting them apart.

Perfect.

Kai adjusted his strategy instantly.

Raikou and Venusaur remained to pressure Aqua's remnants.

Jolteon withdrew to reinforce the Magma front.

The Legendary Birds shifted focus—harassing Team Aqua instead of Deoxys.

Trying to capture Deoxys?

Not happening.

With orders relayed through Gardevoir's telepathy, Kai refocused on the approaching Magma elites.

Gengar and Misty's Pokémon advanced to support the front line.

Only Gardevoir stayed behind.

Misty hesitated—then released Psyduck once more.

"…You're clumsy," she muttered, "but at least you'll protect us."

The four-way battle raged on.

And it was far from over.
