Pregnant Bunny, Obsessed Beast Husbands
Chapter 277: A Formal Meeting with [Zero]Yu Zhizhi returned to her room.
This was an active-duty warship of the Deep Sea, far more advanced than the converted passenger ship from last time.
Each room had a round porthole.
The bed against the wall was soft and warm. Though not spacious, the room was well-equipped. The ship-wide climate control regulated the air temperature and humidity, making it perfect for resting.
She sat on the bed and pulled down the built-in wooden desk, trying to recall how to enter the Divine Hall Illusion Realm.
Yu Zhizhi vaguely remembered the letter from the Divine Hall Alliance. It was from a temple messenger calling himself Zero. The letter had been very sincere, but she’d been sidetracked by too many other things since then...
As for the Spell she needed, Yu Zhizhi found it was already etched deep in her memory; it came to mind the moment she tried to recall it.
She found a white candle.
She placed it on the wooden desk.
After lighting it, she slowly closed her eyes and softly recited the Spell from the letter.
Soon, it was as if Yu Zhizhi saw a dense fog.
She slowly opened her eyes and found herself sitting in what seemed to be a comfortable chair. As the thick fog dissipated, she took in the scene before her—
It was a pitch-dark space, dominated by a wide, red, round table. Above it hovered strange, dark markings that resembled an Array.
In the very center of the round table sat a candelabra holding a dozen or so candles.
At the moment, only two of them were lit.
The dim light revealed that the area around the red table was empty. She was the only one there, sitting quietly in a red chair. As far as she could see, everything beyond the table was a black void.
’So this is the Divine Hall Illusion Realm?’
’I’m in?’
CLICK-CLACK-CLICK... She heard the crisp sound of leather shoes striking the floor.
Gradually, a figure emerged from the thick fog, coming to a stop at the round table directly across from her.
It was a tall man dressed in aristocratic attire, his face hidden behind a white mask.
"Welcome, Ms. Zhi Zhi. I am the Divine Hall Alliance’s Zero Messenger, the founder of this Round Table Illusion Realm. You can call me Zero."
"Zero..." Yu Zhizhi couldn’t help but sit up straighter. "Mr. Ling, you said in your letter that you could help me understand this world more clearly. And also..."
"Dear lady, please don’t be in such a hurry. We’ll take things one at a time."
The temple messenger pulled out a red chair and sat down.
The plain white mask on his face bore no design. Only the lips were painted a brilliant, glossy red.
"This is a beautiful planet, brimming with vitality and Light. Cultures of the past and future intertwine, where tradition and exploration coexist. It is a world of unparalleled Extraordinary Power, full of infinite possibilities."
"And on the other side of the sunshine is where the shadows converge."
"The ever-worsening mental collapses, the source of corruption from the depths of the sea, the Beast Clan warriors on the brink of collapse, and the great matriarchs whose very ability to reproduce has been affected—"
"A prophecy, long ago, foretold the situation we face today."
"An unending stream of power from the Otherworld is gradually seeping into this beautiful planet. In the end, we will become mere fodder."
"I imagine you’ve already had your first encounter with them, haven’t you?"
’Them?’
Yu Zhizhi thought of the Chelsea Territory. "Those people... they don’t belong to this planet?"
’So that’s why they called the young boy, Gu Xi, an "aborigine."’
’Is the disappearance of the Lord of Chelsea connected to them?’
’And the new Lord—what’s his story?’
The young man behind the white mask seemed to smile. He rested his chin on one hand. "This is just the beginning. It’s like that rain several decades ago. Everyone thought it was just an ordinary spring shower, but in reality, the entire world’s magnetic field was altered, and the sources of corruption have been increasing ever since."
"...Why are you telling me all this?"
Yu Zhizhi was bewildered.
In truth, she didn’t belong to this world.
Once she completed her mission, she would return to her own reality.
"From the first time you accidentally entered Varolan, my scrying altar sensed your aura." The young man’s voice was as warm as the March sun. "I know that you, too, are a traveler from an Otherworld. Your aura is clean and pure, capable of containing all the Strength of this world."
Yu Zhizhi’s eyes shot wide open.
She clasped her hands in her lap, her breathing growing unsteady.
She didn’t dare to speak.
She was afraid this temple messenger named Zero was just testing her.
Yu Zhizhi certainly didn’t want to be treated like an outcast.
’In any case...’
’She wasn’t going to admit it.’
The young man continued, "No one is more suitable than you. In my prophecies, I have seen that one day in the future, we will face the end of the world."
"I cannot be certain of the exact date. It could be very soon—a matter of months or years. Or it could be a long time from now—decades, or even a century—"
"What I am certain of, however, is that we can do something for this world. Join us, Miss Rabbit. Let’s save this world together. Of course, you will gain many benefits as well."
"...Such as?" Yu Zhizhi looked at him.
Zero replied, "For instance, the abilities you awaken here will stay with you permanently, no matter where you go. That includes your home world. I know you’re astonished, but don’t forget, we are the Divine Hall Alliance. The power of the Divine Hall cannot be explained in words."
Yu Zhizhi lowered her head and fiddled with her fingers, looking deeply conflicted.
The young man paused. "Alternatively, I could let you see a glimpse of your home world. I was curious, so I took a look once. The place where Miss Rabbit was born is also showing signs of a Spiritual Energy Revival."
"Believe me, the Strength you gain here will be very useful."
"Even if you don’t need it, what about your family?"
Yu Zhizhi’s head snapped up.
"...I can see it?"
"It’s a membership perk."
"How do I join?"
The young man glanced upward, and the strange runes from the Array were projected onto the tabletop in front of Yu Zhizhi.
It looked like the giant maw of an abyss, trying to devour everything.
"But... what can I even do?" Yu Zhizhi murmured softly.
The young man’s voice was as gentle as ever. "My divinations tell me that in the near future, you will certainly play a monumental role."
"So, you’re a Prophet?"
"I am."
’Prophecy ability... It was said to be an extremely Rare power; one might only appear once in many years.’
’And Prophets were generally short-lived.’
"I need to think about it," Yu Zhizhi said, not making an immediate decision.
"Very well."
The young man in the white mask didn’t press her. He snapped his fingers, and the fog of the Illusion Realm reappeared. "I look forward to our next meeting."
When Yu Zhizhi came to her senses, she was back on the ship.
The candle in front of her had been extinguished at some point.
Thinking of the temple messenger named Zero, she felt a sense of bewilderment, unsure if she could trust him.
「Back at the round table.」
The young man took off his mask and looked up at the Array symbols on the ceiling. "Miss Rabbit doesn’t trust us."
"If I were her, I wouldn’t trust a suspicious character who came out of nowhere, either."
The Array, it seemed, could speak.
"Then what should we do?" the young man asked, vexed. "Without her, those great powers will never unite."
"Zero, you should have ’Two’ go and speak with her. After all, they are old acquaintances."
Yu Zhizhi simply couldn’t sleep.
The matter of the Divine Hall Alliance was too incredible to believe.
After washing up, she changed into fresh clothes, draped a thin blanket over her shoulders to block the wind, and quietly pushed open her door.
