The young woman was wrapped in a local long robe. Its hood had been blown back by the wind, and her disheveled black hair was plastered to her face. A film of tears welled in her eyes as she sat on the ground, a small red octopus clutched in her arms.
At the sight of the shark, Yu Zhizhi fought to hold back her tears.
"Lord Shen He..."
On the battlefield, the enemy squad leaders had already been subdued by the Hanhai Army’s elite warriors. Buli plunged his long spear into the ground before him, finally able to rest. He pulled open his robe with one hand, revealing a gruesome, bloody wound on his chest.
Meanwhile, the young boy from the Golden Fish Clan had a deathly pale face. He couldn’t stop trembling, especially when Shen He drew near.
Shen He crouched down. He looked at the disheveled young female before him, then glanced impassively at the red thing in her arms. "Let go."
"Oh..." Yu Zhizhi complied.
The moment she loosened her grip, the Little Octopus shot out eagerly.
Shen He lifted the young woman into his arms.
The wind was fierce. He pulled up the hood of the young female’s robe, settling it over her head. Footsteps approached from behind. The Sea Snake, Siqi, glanced at Miss Rabbit. "Lord Shen He, Buli is gravely injured. It looks like we’ll have to send for Mr. Mo Luo right away."
Buli...
Yu Zhizhi quickly peeked out from her hood. "I can go take a look."
Shen He said, "Back to the warship first."
"What about him?" Si Qi looked toward the "Little Douding" who was sitting on the ground, shivering.
Yu Zhizhi replied softly, "His name is Gu Xi. He’s the little healer Prince You Sen was looking for. We need to take him with us."
Shen He gave the young female in his arms a noncommittal glance.
He held the young woman and walked toward the warship.
The rest could be left to the Hanhai Soldiers.
A Tiger Whale Soldier pulled the young boy up from the ground. "Can you walk, little guy?"
Gu Xi slowly nodded.
He looked at the members of the Hanhai Army, his eyes gradually filling with envy and admiration.
They were all adult males, each one "mighty and fierce"—a description of their aura, not just their physique. For example, the White Snake male was tall and slender, yet he exuded a sense of Strength.
’I hope I can grow up quickly,’ Gu Xi thought.
’Just like them.’
’And become a brave and fearless Imperial Warrior!’
Shen He carried the little rabbit onto the warship.
The soldiers of the Hanhai Army thought they were seeing things.
Aside from the contingent that had been sailing with him previously, this was the first time any of the other soldiers had seen Lord Shen He carrying a female.
They didn’t dare stare and quickly lowered their heads.
Shen He carried Yu Zhizhi all the way to the medical bay.
He placed the young female on the clean white sheets.
Yu Zhizhi suddenly clutched the corner of his robes. She looked up at the tall man before her. "Prince You Sen... he’s still in Black Tide Bay."
"I know."
Seeing a flicker of confusion in the young female’s eyes, the corner of Shen He’s mouth curved slightly. "If he wants to break through to the Sixth Rank, he can’t do it by staying in his comfort zone."
The Hanhai Army was stationed near the Black Tide Sea Area for two reasons. First, to monitor the Chelsea Territory more closely. Second, to provide timely reinforcements in case of an emergency.
The young female, of course, had to be well "protected."
’As for that brother of mine...’
Yu Zhizhi was still worried. Hearing Buli’s faint cough nearby, she quickly got off the bed and went to his side.
The Hanhai Army had its own physician, Mr. Mo Luo. However, he was currently on another warship, treating soldiers who had contracted a sudden infection.
They had already sent for him.
"Mr. Buli, let me treat your wounds first."
"Thank you." Buli was extremely weak. He leaned against the headboard, his vision so blurry he could only make out a vague silhouette.
"What did you notice?" Shen He walked over as well.
The brown-haired young man’s face was pale, and he was sweating profusely from the pain. "They possess a very strange Strength, completely different from three years ago."
Three years ago, Buli had also been to the Chelsea Territory on a mission.
He hadn’t been able to meet the Lord of Chelsea back then either—the Lord had always been mysterious—but he had clashed with the army stationed there. They had strict discipline, a noble faith, and an aura of Spiritual Energy that shared its roots with the Deep Sea Empire.
This time, however, he couldn’t sense any Deep Sea energy at all.
Yu Zhizhi used her Healing Skill to treat the wounds on Buli’s body. Unfortunately, he was too gravely injured; even after exhausting all her spiritual power, she couldn’t fully heal him.
For the rest, they could only wait for Mr. Mo Luo.
Shen He said no more.
It seemed he wanted to let Buli rest.
A Tiger Whale Soldier came to report on the situation in the territory, and Shen He left the medical bay.
Yu Zhizhi helped Buli drink some pain-relieving medicine.
’The situation today was so critical. If Lord Shen He and his army hadn’t arrived in time, Buli might have already... ’
Buli, who was now bandaged up like a Mummy, smiled faintly. "It’s all right, Ms. Zhi Zhi. I feel much better now. Once Doctor Moluo arrives, I’ll be fully recovered in a few days."
"However—"
The brown-haired young man suddenly changed his tune. "There is one thing I’d like to ask for your help with, Ms. Zhi Zhi."
"What is it?"
"If—and I’m just saying if—Miss Mi’er contacts you, please don’t tell her I’m injured."
Buli didn’t want her to undertake such a dangerous journey.
Yu Zhizhi nodded gently. "Okay, I won’t tell her."
The brown-haired young man leaned back against the bed. His wounds still ached, but now he was worrying about whether the border was safe. They were supposed to be there for business for many days. What if they were also infiltrated by the new powers in the Chelsea Territory...
As an outsider, Yu Zhizhi could tell that Buli and Miss Mi’er cared for each other deeply.
She couldn’t help but ask, "Mr. Buli, if the Hanhai Army hadn’t shown up today... if we had all died in the Chelsea Territory, what would have been your biggest regret?"
A stunned expression crossed the brown-haired young man’s face.
’Such a grim hypothetical?’
"I would have blamed myself for failing to complete Lord Shen He’s mission."
Buli looked at the white bandages wrapped around his arm, his voice trailing off. "And... as for Miss Mi’er, that I never got to tell her how I feel, right up to the very end."
Yu Zhizhi stood up.
She passed the white communicator from the bedside table into Buli’s hands.
"We all survived."
’Some things should be said sooner rather than later, to avoid a lifetime of regret.’
Yu Zhizhi turned and left.
The night was deep. She noticed the silver moon on the horizon, as bright and round as a platter.
The letter from the Divine Hall Alliance slowly came to mind...
’Tonight should be the perfect time.’
She couldn’t help but stare at the moon for a while longer.
She didn’t notice that, not far away, Shen He was leaning against the ship’s railing on the deck, his gaze fixed on her. The wind tugged at the young woman’s thin white robe as she steadied herself against a wall and moved forward slowly. Her rabbit ears were bent backward by the wind. After asking a guard on the ship for directions, she found her room.
’Such a fragile rabbit,’ he thought. ’It seems a single gust of sea breeze could blow her away.’
Shen He stared intently at her closed door.
The roar of the wind filled his ears.
Sensing the faint, barely-there flicker of desire in his heart, he turned his back to her and stared out at the churning sea.
