Nestled in Shen He’s arms, she endured his deep, drunken kiss.
’He must be drunk.’
He fell into a deep sleep in the middle of the night.
Yu Zhizhi lay with her eyes wide open. Her heart pounded at the thought of her escape plan.
When the appointed time arrived, the sky was still dark. She quietly slipped out of bed, put on a windproof, white-hooded robe, and pushed open the door to leave.
The ship was utterly silent.
With the night watch sigils active, the soldiers could all get a good night’s sleep.
Yu Zhizhi slowly walked onto the deck. She reached the bow and heard the deep, rhythmic crash of the waves. In the distance, the town of Black Tide resembled a great beast fallen into a deep slumber.
She could occasionally see a few scattered lights.
’Sensen told me to come here before dawn...’
’I wonder, will he come himself, or will he send someone to see me off?’
Just as Yu Zhizhi was waiting with bated breath, she noticed a snowflake land on the back of her hand. Puzzled, she looked up. The night sky was already starting to lighten, but snow was unheard of in the spring of April.
Before her eyes, the surface of the sea began to solidify and freeze.
Starting from the very front of the ship, an ice path formed.
Realization dawned on Yu Zhizhi. Without a moment’s hesitation, she went straight down from the bow. She landed steadily on the icy path, only to find it was even thicker than she had imagined.
’Sensen actually paved an ice road for me on the sea...’
At this hour, there was no one around the warship, and Black Tide Port was silent.
Yu Zhizhi didn’t dare to linger.
She pulled on her hood and sprinted straight ahead.
WHOOSH... WHOOSH...
The wind whistled past her ears. She wasn’t running particularly fast, but perhaps because she was on the ice, borrowing a bit of Yusen’s Strength and aided by her own spiritual power, she didn’t feel tired at all.
The ice path stretched out toward the center of the sea.
Yu Zhizhi trusted Yusen completely, so she didn’t hesitate for a second.
She was too focused—or perhaps, too nervous.
The thought of the shark waking up to find her gone made her palms sweat.
After she was a great distance from the warship, Yu Zhizhi discovered that many separate, forking paths had appeared on the sea’s surface.
She chose one of them.
On either side of the ice road, seawater occasionally washed over, wetting the heels of her shoes. Yu Zhizhi looked at the path beneath her feet, clean and transparent as crystal. At its end, she finally saw a mode of transport.
A dark red sled.
Yu Zhizhi panted slightly as she climbed aboard.
She knew that Yusen was using his spiritual power and talent to forge an ice path for her across the sea.
She didn’t dare delay for a moment.
Just as the young woman sat down on the sled, the little red octopus that had been tailing her all along jumped aboard without a second thought.
Yu Zhizhi jumped in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
The Little Octopus raised its frontmost tentacle. "I’m going on an adventure! Let’s go! Let’s go!"
The sled was incredibly fast.
Yu Zhizhi gripped the handrail in front of her. She could feel Yusen’s faint aura. The farther she got from Black Tide Port, the fainter the Mermaid’s aura became.
’I’m really leaving the Deep Sea.’
Never before had she been so keenly aware that, despite the boundless expanse of the sea, she was finally leaving.
「Black Tide Bay, Underground Battlefield.」
Yusen furrowed his brow slightly as a snowflake drifted down onto the tip of his nose, covering the faint mole there.
He could feel more clearly than anyone that his little rabbit was getting farther and farther away.
Every step the young woman took away from him felt like it was trampling on his heart.
He was using all his Strength to send her far away.
’But, why...’
’...why didn’t Zhi Zhi invite me to the territory she might one day have?’
The corners of Yusen’s eyes gradually grew moist.
As the sky began to brighten, the sled continued to race onward at high speed.
People on the shore had already noticed that the distant sea surface had actually frozen over! Aside from the Glacier regions, no other sea on the Beast World Planet had ever displayed such a spectacle!
Someone raised a pair of binoculars to look—
a red sled carrying a young woman in a white robe that concealed her Beast Form, and...
’A Little Octopus?’
What a strange combination.
It was the Little Octopus’s first time ice skating on the sea. It was so excited that its tentacles quivered wildly in the air.
Yu Zhizhi looked up as a cold snowflake landed on her lips. Her eyelashes trembled, and she slowly closed her eyes.
’Sensen...’
’Sensen...’
’We’ll see each other again someday, right?’
Yusen seemed to sense the young woman’s feelings.
He opened his ice blue eyes, his gaze gradually growing firm—
No matter how vast the sea was, as long as he steadfastly moved in her direction, they would one day be reunited.
Yusen would no longer hesitate, no longer waver.
"Wait for me, wait for me..." the Mermaid Youth’s voice was slightly hoarse.
’Wait until my Glacier power reaches the Sixth Rank.’
’Wait until I have complete control of the Undersea Kingdom.’
’Wait until I’ve made the Deep Sea Empire more hospitable for the Land Beast Clan.’
’I will definitely go and get her.’
Yusen’s spiritual power was being consumed at a massive rate. He slowly raised his hand, a wisp of Ice Qi appearing in his palm.
And on Yu Zhizhi’s end—
she saw a white Frost Flower slowly freeze into existence in mid-air.
It was a flower that only grew in the Glacier regions.
She had seen one once before in a shopping mall while strolling through the Imperial City with Mimi.
It was white as snow, blooming brilliantly.
The little red octopus was stunned.
It was the first time it had ever seen a Frost Flower blooming in mid-air!
On the distant shore, the person with the binoculars saw this and gaped. "A-A God’s blessing?!"
It looked just like one!
Yu Zhizhi held out her hands, and the Frost Flower slowly descended into her palms.
This was Yusen’s parting gift to her.
A smile appeared on Yu Zhizhi’s face. She was so, so happy to have received the Frost Flower from Yusen. She pressed her forehead against it.
「Meanwhile.」
By dawn, the ice path around the warship had vanished without a trace. The soldiers doing their morning exercises didn’t notice anything unusual, only faintly catching the scent of the Prince Merfolk’s aura.
But they didn’t think anything of it.
After all, Black Tide Harbor was very close to the Chelsea Territory.
The more intensely Prince You Sen fought, the greater the chance they would sense his aura.
The only thing different from usual was that Lord Shen He, surprisingly, had yet to wake up.
The Tiger Whale Soldiers couldn’t help but snicker—
’Looks like the Lord’s relationship with Miss Rabbit is heating up.’
The Sea Snake Siqi looked up at Ms. Zhi Zhi’s room. He had heard from the logistics soldiers that Lord Shen He and Ms. Zhi Zhi had eaten a late-night snack in her room last night.
’There shouldn’t be any problem, right?’
He thought about going up to knock on the door.
But the Tiger Whale Soldiers stopped him. "Don’t go. Let them rest. There’s nothing important today anyway, the meeting isn’t until tonight."
The Tiger Whale Soldiers wanted Lord Shen He to spend more time with Miss Rabbit.
Si Qi hesitated for a moment before deciding to stay on the deck for his morning exercises.
When Shen He woke up, it was already evening.
He rarely drank.
Even when he had attended banquets before, he had only gotten slightly tipsy, never black-out drunk like this. He couldn’t even remember what happened last night...
His head ached a little from sleeping so long.
He sat up and, realizing he was in the little female’s room, the corners of his mouth turned up slightly.
Shen He went into the bathroom to take a shower.
After he came out, he threw on a jacket, pushed open the door, and asked a soldier stationed at the end of the hallway, "Where is the Healing Officer Miss?"
