According to messages transmitted through the waves by the most perceptive sharks, the shark soldiers aboard the warship pieced together the information. They learned that the two Shark Clan Beast Eggs had come from a Rabbit Clan Lady.
Shen He’s stride faltered. He looked over. "Location?"
Sea Snake Siqi took the long saber from his hand. "Chelsea East Territory, Luoshua Harbor."
’That route...’
’If she continues on, she’ll reach the borders of Varolan.’
’This female of the Rabbit Clan is almost certainly...’ Si Qi followed closely behind Lord Shen He, saying nothing more.
At Black Tide Harbor, the night wind carried the stench of blood.
Shen He looked at the soldiers standing guard on the warship, his expression tense as he thought of the two Shark Clan Beast Eggs...
The slaughter had been so heavy these past ten days that he hadn’t even noticed.
Just then, the phone on the warship began to ring incessantly.
The Tiger Whale Soldiers answered several calls, all from various factions of the Shark Clan, congratulating Lord Shen He.
The clan had already sensed the existence of the Shark Beast Eggs and were absolutely certain whose offspring they were.
Shen He held the phone, his cold, gray eyes fixed on the churning waves outside. After he hung up, the sound of his own heartbeat grew clearer.
’His...’
’His cubs?’
He thought back to the Healing Center in the Royal Palace, how the little female had been so hesitant and tongue-tied. ’So she was lying back then.’
Tracing the timeline back, it must have been that night at the Blue Tone.
Shen He gripped the glass, the ice inside slowly melting, the condensation spreading across his palm... He had wondered before, what if they hadn’t taken precautions? Would the little rabbit conceive his cubs?
But he never expected it to happen so suddenly—
The water from the glass soaked Shen He’s palm. The thought of having the little rabbit carry his bloodline now sprouted uncontrollably, like bamboo shoots after a spring rain. Back at Black Tide Harbor, in the depths shrouded by night, their countless embraces... he had told himself to exercise restraint, even as he devoured the little female whole.
He couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. ’What restraint was he capable of?’
’The restraint of wanting to meld her into his very being? Or the restraint of wanting her to stay by his side forever, her belly swollen with his child?’
He couldn’t suppress the desire in his heart. A despicable thought took root and sprouted.
She was supposed to be a "gift" for his younger brother.
Yet he had developed the desire to possess her completely.
Shen He tilted his head back and downed the ice water in the glass.
The distant coastline vanished into darkness.
His gray eyes lurked in the shadows. He popped half an ice cube into his mouth, his sharp shark teeth slowly grinding it to bits.
’Chelsea East Territory.’
’It seems the Mermaids really do intend to escort the little female all the way to the borders of Varolan.’
’The Knight Alliance blocked my best chance to find her. By now, the little female should have already made it to shore. That small coastal town is untouched by the war, accessible from all directions, a gathering place for all sorts of people. The ones who helped her escape must be there too.’
Shen He slowly tightened his grip on the glass.
Nearby, the Tiger Whale Soldiers and Sea Snake Siqi dared not utter a word.
They were all stunned that Miss Rabbit had borne two shark cubs for their Lord!
All in all, they were overjoyed, because Lord Shen He finally had an heir! Especially since Lord Shen He and Miss Rabbit had been so intimate on the warship these last few days. They had seen it all and were secretly thrilled.
But then came the twists and turns—
Miss Rabbit escaped with the help of Prince You Sen!
Miss Rabbit gave birth to two shark cubs!
And those two Beast Eggs were confirmed to be of Lord Shen He’s bloodline!
AHHHH!
The Tiger Whale Soldiers were filled with regret. ’If only I hadn’t slept so soundly! If I had just woken up a few more times during the night, I might have heard something and wouldn’t have let Miss Rabbit get away.’
CRACK—
At the sound, the Tiger Whale Soldiers and Si Qi snapped to attention. They looked up to see that Lord Shen He had crushed the glass in his hand.
The man’s stone-gray eyes were cold and grim. Shards of glass, mixed with blood, fell from his palm and dripped onto the deck.
"Contact our hidden sentinels in the Chelsea East Territory. The moment you find any trace of the Healing Officer Miss, capture her by any means necessary."
Shen He walked to the other end of the ship. As he passed the room where the little rabbit had stayed, he glanced inside.
The delicate, soft figure of the little female seemed to appear in the room. She was sitting on the white bed, hugging a pillow, her small belly slightly swollen. Her two rabbit ears drooped gently, and the sweet smile in her eyes seemed to say—
"Good evening, Lord Shen He."
’Good evening, Healing Officer Miss.’
—’Since you’ve borne my shark cubs, don’t even think about escaping the Deep Sea Empire!’
"My Lord!" Si Qi hurried to catch up.
"You will remain here." Shen He leaped from the bow of the ship. The moment he hit the water, he underwent Beastification, transforming into a giant white shark.
He dove undersea in an instant.
The Tiger Whale Soldiers and Sea Snake Siqi exchanged a look. They understood that Lord Shen He was going after her alone. He would be much faster by himself.
’But it’s too late, isn’t it?’
The Knight Alliance had blocked their warship for ten whole days.
By the time their lord reached the coastal town in the Chelsea East Territory, Miss Rabbit would likely be long gone. Even with the hidden sentinels notified, it wasn’t a foolproof plan...
「Chelsea East Territory, Luosa Town.」
After coming ashore, the fluffy little rabbit collapsed weakly onto the sand. Yu Zhizhi’s beast form was soaking wet, her two ears drooping. She noticed there were very few people in this part of the coast.
The little red octopus, however, was full of energy.
After dragging the little rabbit to a safer spot, it swaggered off toward the town.
Halfway there, it realized the little rabbit hadn’t followed and hurried back.
"Come on, let’s go!" it urged. "We need to find a place to stay, fast. I heard monsters that specifically eat rabbit meat come out at night!"
Yu Zhizhi: "..."
’That sounds like complete nonsense.’
She didn’t believe a word of it.
She got to her feet and, with some effort, shook the water from her furry body. Yu Zhizhi walked across the sand and soon entered the town. There were quite a few people on the streets, and the shops lining the road glowed with warm light.
The Little Octopus passed an ice cream shop and pressed itself against the window, watching for a long moment. It then pulled a silver coin from somewhere on its body and bought two cones.
It handed one to the little rabbit.
The two little creatures sat on a roadside bench, eating their cantaloupe-flavored ice cream.
The town didn’t seem very big. A single long street was flanked by shops, with snack stalls, small taverns, and inns all packed closely together.
Yu Zhizhi finished the last crunchy bite of her cone, changed back into her human form, and headed for the inn across the street.
DING-A-LING—
As she pushed open the door, a wind chime tinkled softly.
The inn’s ground floor was dimly lit. In the darkness, a wooden staircase was imbued with an air of mystery.
The innkeeper came down from the second floor, carrying an oil lamp.
She looked very young. "Looking for a room, guest?"
Yu Zhizhi nodded slightly. "Yes. I’d like two rooms, please."
The young woman smiled. She wore a long red dress that accentuated her graceful waist. Placing the oil lamp on the counter, her enchanting eyes carefully observed the little Rabbit Clan female who wanted to check in—
’Hm, she looks just like the photo.’
She glanced over and saw the little red octopus splayed out limply on a chair.
’It must be them.’
