Chapter 318: Chapter 319 - A dull bunch

Jai quickly found some tissues tucked behind the cabinet and hurriedly wiped himself clean, his face still burning from embarrassment.

"What is it?" Shao moved closer, curiosity immediately getting the better of him as he tried to reach out and touch it.

"No! Don’t!" Jai quickly pulled away and glared at him. "Step back, buddy. You are absolutely not allowed to touch that."

Shao immediately stepped back with both hands raised in surrender. "Okay... I won’t touch."

He found his clothes and began putting them on, though his curiosity clearly hadn’t disappeared.

"But what is it?"

"Oh, can you please stop asking?" Jai’s cheeks turned even redder. In his embarrassment, he grabbed his pants and threw them at Shao. "And get dressed! Everyone is waiting outside for us."

Shao caught the pants easily, but at the mention of everyone waiting outside, his expression darkened. He glanced toward the bathroom door as though he could already imagine all the people standing on the other side.

A low growl escaped him.

"Don’t act like you’re going to kill them," Jai mumbled as he hurriedly jumped around, trying to pull his pants on properly. "We’re the ones who shouldn’t be doing this here in the first place."

He finally managed to get dressed, then reached out and shoved Shao toward the door.

"Come on. Move."

Shao grumbled something under his breath but followed him out.

The moment they stepped into the room, Hana looked up.

"Oh, look! It’s the lovely couple." She laughed, clearly enjoying herself far too much. "Welcome back to the land of the living."

She held out a warm bowl of soup toward Jai.

"Here. Replenish all the energy you lost, my friend."

Jai reached out to take it, but before his fingers could even touch the bowl, Shao snatched it from Hana’s hands.

Without saying a word, he turned around and handed it directly to Jai.

Hana stared at him for a second.

Then she rolled her eyes.

"Ohhh. Someone is acting possessive." She shook her head with an amused smile. "Calm down, buddy. I’m not going to eat him."

Shao gave her a warning look.

Hana simply ignored it and turned back toward the stove to get some more soup.

Jai, meanwhile, glared at Shao, his face turning an even deeper shade of red.

"You didn’t have to do that," he muttered.

Shao said nothing.

He simply sat beside him as though what he had done was the most natural thing in the world.

Jai sighed, still glaring at him, before finally sitting down with the others.

That night, they stayed there and slept.

Well... most of them slept.

Jia quickly discovered that Shao had apparently decided personal space was completely unnecessary.

No matter how many times Jia shifted away, Shao somehow ended up right beside him again, his strong arms loosely wrapped around him. At first, Jia tried his best to maintain some dignity, especially with everyone else sleeping nearby.

He really did. But then that warmth came again.

Shao’s body was naturally warm, and after spending so much time surrounded by the cold air, it was almost impossible to resist. Jia hesitated for a moment before finally giving in.

Slowly, he turned around and nestled against Shao’s muscular chest. The steady warmth immediately relaxed him.

Jia quietly let out a small sigh, his cheek resting against Shao’s chest as he listened to the faint rhythm of his breathing.

Just for tonight.

Soon, he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, they started early, long before the sun had properly risen.

The sky outside was still dark, with only the faintest hint of light appearing along the horizon. Everyone quickly gathered their things, eager to get moving before the day became too bright.

They had a quick breakfast of the same soup from yesterday before heading outside toward the cars.

Yunfeng climbed into the driver’s seat and checked the fuel meter.

"The cars need gas," he mumbled, his brows furrowing as he stared at the nearly empty gauge.

"We can siphon some off on the way," Muchen suggested as he moved closer, slipping his arms around Yunfeng’s waist. "How long will they last?"

"Maybe a few kilometers..." Yunfeng sighed, still staring at the meter. "But this place seems quite remote. We might not find any gas at all along the way."

His expression grew increasingly worried.

"Maybe I should set off on foot and find some."

He turned toward Muchen, his gaze immediately softening when he looked at his pregnant lover. His hand gently cupped Muchen’s slightly chubby cheek.

"I don’t want to take any chances."

Muchen rubbed against his chest affectionately, trying to ease his worries.

"Stop worrying so much. We haven’t met any dangerous creatures along the way. Maybe they were all destroyed by the blast."

"Maybe."

"But it’s still too risky. I can’t afford to risk you both." His hand slowly moved down, resting gently over lover’s baby bump.

Muchen leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to Yunfeng’s cheek. "It’ll be fine."

Yunfeng looked at him silently.

Muchen smiled. "It really will."

"Yes, Yunfeng. It will be fine."

Hana suddenly appeared behind them, perfectly imitating Muchen’s gentle tone.

Yunfeng slowly turned his head. He glared at her.

Hana grinned. Then, without the slightest hint of shame, she raised her middle finger at him and jumped into the backseat.

Yunfeng stared after her. "I swear, she became even more cocky after awakening her powers." He muttered under his breath before pulling Muchen closer.

Muchen couldn’t help but laugh softly.

The others had already gotten into the cars, and they were finally ready to leave.

Jai joined Yunfeng and Muchen in their car. Of course, Shao joined them too. Because apparently, leaving Jia alone for even five minutes was no longer an option.

Hana was pushed toward the side of the backseat, squeezed between Shao and the door.

Jai stared at her for a moment before sighing. "I’m sorry..."

"I get it," Hana said dryly. "Lover boy wants you all to himself."

A low growl immediately came from Shao.

Hana froze.

She slowly turned her head toward him.

"Why is he so much more animalistic than the others?" she whispered curiously.

"Because he’s a pure alpha." Yunfeng answered from the driver’s seat, glancing at them through the rearview mirror. "He has stronger animalistic instincts than I do."

His eyes narrowed slightly when Shao’s growling continued."And Shao, can you keep your pheromones in check? Muchen can’t handle that smell."

"But it smells good though," Hana mumbled under her breath.

Every single person in the car turned to stare at her.

Hana blinked. "What?"

Jai looked like he was trying very hard not to laugh.

Even Shao gave her an odd look.

Hana rolled her eyes and leaned back against the seat. "Geez. What a dull bunch."
