"Um... Aunty, this is... I’m not actually fat," Muchen finally whispered, rubbing his belly awkwardly.

Jinju simply gave him a kind, reassuring nod.

"It’s okay. You’re still young. Sometimes fat just accumulates around the stomach. Don’t worry about it. I actually know a great workout that works really well for belly fat. My neighbor used it, and her husband lost so much weight in just one month. It definitely works!"

She soothingly patted his shoulder, clearly trying to make him feel better.

Muchen could only laugh awkwardly.

"Yeah... I guess so." He hesitated before glancing at her. "Actually, could you give me your hand for a moment?"

Jinju looked taken aback but obediently held out her hand.

"What is it?"

Muchen gently took her hand and placed it against his belly. He looked at her nervously, biting his lip.

"It’s not fat."

For a moment, Jinju simply stared at him.

Then her eyes suddenly widened.

"Muchen! S-something is moving inside!"

She nearly jumped out of her seat.

"Oh my God! Is it some kind of mutant plant? Did you eat some seeds? Oh God... can they even remove it?"

He sighed and gently held her hand against his stomach so she couldn’t pull it away in panic.

"It’s not a mutant plant growing in my tummy," he explained quietly. "It’s actually... a baby."

Jinju’s brows rose so high they nearly disappeared into her hairline.

"A what?"

"A baby," Muchen repeated in barely a whisper, looking away from her.

He couldn’t bring himself to look at her expression. He didn’t want to see disgust in her eyes or the judgment that might come with it. He had been terrified of this moment for so long, and now that it was finally here, all his courage seemed to be slipping away.

"It’s your son’s," he whispered faintly. "Technically... I’m pregnant with your grandchild."

Jinju’s eyes remained wide open as she stared at him.

"You’re not joking with me, are you?"

"No..." Muchen finally looked at her. "I wish I was, but I’m really pregnant."

His voice trembled slightly as he forced himself to continue.

"I love your son, and we... we kind of had an accident, and now I’m pregnant." He swallowed hard. "You might think I’m a monster, but I don’t care. I love Yunfeng, and I love this child. I love my family. They’re my family, and I will—"

He never got to finish.

Jinju suddenly leaned forward and wrapped both arms around him, pulling him into a soft, warm embrace.

"Oh my God..."

Her voice trembled.

"Oh my God."

Muchen froze in surprise.

Jinju pulled back just enough to look at him, tears already filling her eyes.

"You’re pregnant," she whispered in wonder. "It’s a miracle."

She gently cupped his face.

"Who called you a monster? You’re literally a living miracle, Muchen."

The moment he felt her soft palms against his cheeks, something inside him finally broke.

Muchen’s body trembled slightly, and the tears he hadn’t even realized he had been holding back began slipping down his face.

"I’m sorry I’m telling you like this..." he whispered.

"No, no, it’s okay." Jinju immediately wiped his tears away with her fingers. "It’s completely okay."

She gave him a warm smile before her expression suddenly hardened.

"In fact, I have to kick my son’s butt for getting you pregnant so irresponsibly."

Muchen sniffled and nodded.

"Yeah... you should."

Despite his tears, a small smile appeared on his face.

"But I don’t regret it," he admitted, wiping his face vigorously. "I really love being pregnant."

Jinju’s expression softened again.

"My love, it’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it?" She gently rested her hand against his belly, feeling the small movements of the child inside.

Suddenly, Yunfeng came running back, cursing under his breath as he approached.

"Shao, get everyone to safety. We can’t stay here any longer. Fuck, I’ll stay behind and search for—"

He stopped abruptly.

His eyes fell into the back seat of the car, where they met Jinju’s expectant gaze.

"M-Mom?"

Jinju immediately stepped out of the car and walked toward him.

Yunfeng stared at her for a moment, completely stunned. Then, expecting the hug he had been waiting for, he opened his arms wide, biting his lip as he fought to hold back the tears threatening to spill from his eyes.

"I missed you so much, and—ow!"

Jinju grabbed his ear and pinched it hard, pulling him down until they were closer to the same height.

"What have I taught you about cursing?" she scolded. "It’s so unmanly. You’ve become completely rogue in just three months, huh?"

Yunfeng winced, rubbing his ear.

"How about asking me how I’m doing? Or asking, ’How did you fare out here, Yunfeng?’" he complained quietly, lowering himself further before wrapping his arms around his short mother. "No questions like that?"

"I heard about all your adventures already and I know you are doing good." She scoffed.

"What are you even doing here?" he added, finally hugging her properly.

Jinju hugged him back tightly. "You stupid kid made me worry so much!"

She pouted as she glared up at him before giving his shoulders a few light smacks.

"And you!" she suddenly exclaimed, turning her attention toward him again. "You went ahead and had irresponsible sex! How old are you now? Twenty? Barely nineteen, and you already have a kid on the way!"

Her gaze shifted toward Muchen.

"I don’t mean anything by that, Muchen," she quickly added. "You are an innocent angel."

Then she turned back toward Yunfeng, her eyes narrowing.

"But this man!"

She glared at her son with all the fury of a mother who had just discovered exactly how irresponsible her child could be.

"You definitely deserve some punishment!"

She began playfully smacking his shoulders.

"Mom..." Yunfeng sighed, trying to protect himself from her attacks. "Please... Not now."

His expression quickly changed as he looked past her toward the forest.

The joking atmosphere disappeared from his face.

"Why?" Jinju asked, finally noticing his troubled expression. "Is something wrong?"

Yunfeng didn’t answer immediately.

His hands slowly fell to his sides, and he lowered his head.

"H-Hana is missing," he whispered.
