"Yes sir." He replied.
While he got the room ready I asked for directions to a few places I was thinking about checking out.
"That will be forty silver for two nights in a standard room, it comes with meal service as well but the meals are not as nice as the ones that come with the honeymoon suite, and one gold seventy-five for seven days in our honeymoon suite."
I paid for them rooms and he gave me the key to the room Sarah and I will be staying in first. I then went to take a look at the room and saw it was a single large room with a large bed that could hold four or five people comfortably. The pillows were pretty decent and the blankets looked warm enough. After inspecting the room I locked the door and left. I made my way through the city and picked up a map since Sarah didn’t pick one up before, then I made my way to a large building with stables in the back.
"Welcome, how can I help you sir?" A man asked when I walked in.
"I am getting married in two days and I would like a carriage to pick my bride and me up at the Goddess’ temple after the ceremony and take us to the hotel we will be staying at." I explained to him.
"Fantastic sir, we have several different carriages to choose from. Would you like a private closed carriage or an open air carriage to enjoy the view during your ride?"
"Closed." I said.
He led me to the area where the carriages were and showed me the different styles. I chose one of the more ornate looking carriages.
"As for the team pulling your carriage. Would you like the horses to be white, black, or does that not matter?" He asked.
"The white ones sound like the better choice for this occasion." I said.
"That will be a one gold refundable deposit for the carriage, twenty silver for the horse rental, and fifty silver for the service itself including the driver and doorman." He said.
I paid the fee and left the establishment. I walked back to the dress shop and went inside.
"How can I help you sir?"
"I left my fiancee here a little while ago and came to see if she had finished yet." I said.
"Please have a seat sir while I go into the back to check with her." She said as she pointed me to a sofa.
I sat down and waited. After nearly half an hour Sarah came in from the back happier than ever.
"I got the most beautiful dress I have ever seen." Sarah said running over to me.
"Well I sure hope so, nothing less would be good enough." I said.
After Sarah paid one gold ninety for the dress she turned and attempted to give the remaining ten silver back to me."
"No, you keep it. I have plenty." I said.
We left the shop and began walking. Along the way there were two women standing on the walkway.
"Would you like to make a donation to the Emerald City orphanage sir?" One of the women asked as we got near.
"Sure, how much do you need?" I asked.
Both women were taken aback by the question and glanced at each other.
"It’s a donation sir, you choose how much you donate." One of the women said.
"I understand what a donation is miss, I asked how much do you need." I repeated.
The women glanced at each other again for a few seconds.
"What do you mean?" One woman asked.
"How many children does your orphanage have and how much does it cost per day to care for each child?" I asked.
The women stared at me for a solid minute before looking at each other and whispering for a couple of minutes. After discussing it they turned back to me.
"We currently have thirty-seven children, and it costs roughly seven bronze per day to feed all of them." One woman said.
"So that’s what, two hundred fifty-nine bronze per day?" I asked.
"Roughly, yes sir." She said back.
"And does your orphanage operate purely on donations or do you have a supplemental form of funding?" I asked.
"The City lord is gracious enough to not charge the orphanage any taxes or other sort of fees so other than that yes, we operate solely on donations." She replied.
I removed a gold coin from my ring and placed it in the woman’s hand.
"Goddess... Good sir, are you sure you want to donate this much? This is ten thousand bronze coins." The woman said.
"Yes I am sure. My fiancee and I are both orphans, so I happily donate that coin miss." I said.
"What is your name sir?" She asked.
"My name is Erik Red." I said.
"I am sister Lilly, I will pray to the Goddess to bless you and your fiancee sir." She said.
"Well thank you sister Lilly, I appreciate that." I said.
Sarah and I then turned and continued walking around the city for a couple of hours until we returned to the hotel. I led Sarah to our room, I locked the door and removed my armor before sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Nice to finally get that armor off and relax." I said.
Sarah sat on my lap with her arms wrapped around my neck.
"That was very kind to give the gold coin to the orphanage." She said before kissing me.
We lounged in the room for awhile until there was a knock at the door.
"Meal service". The person at the door said.
I went and hid while Sarah answered the door and came back with a cart with our meals on it. We ate the food and Sarah put the cart outside the room.
"So what were you doing while I was at the dress shop?" Sarah asked.
