"No one has. That is because I am the first and only red goblin. I don’t have a family, and I don’t have a clan. The green goblins are natural enemies of my race and since I am the only one if I am killed that is the end of my race." I said.

"That sounds sad." She said.

"It is what it is. That is why I am killing every green goblin I find, so when I finally decide to start my clan I will be a high enough level to protect my children." I said.

"How does a goblin start a clan?" She asked.

"Well, the green goblins would kidnap a random woman. Then they would rape her and force her to have their children over and over until she finally dies of exhaustion. Then they find another woman and continue the process. But that is not what I am." I said.

"Then how will you start your clan?" She asked.

"I am not a rapist like the green goblins. I will find a woman who will willingly become my wife and who will willingly have my children." I answered.

"What if you can not find a woman willing to marry you?" She asked after taking another bite of food.

"Then I will not start a clan." I replied.

"So what do you plan to do with me?" She asked.

"First I have questions. Questions about this world and what it contains. As I have never left this forest and you are not from this forest I thought you could tell me about this world since I just saved your life." I said.

"What would you like to know?" She asked.

"How about we start with your name?" I said.

"Oh, yeah. My name is Sarah." She replied.

"Nice to meet you Sarah. Where were you going and where were you coming from when those men attacked you?" I asked.

"We were coming from a farming village where we live. Since I just turned eighteen a week ago my parents were taking me to the city to meet another family. They were hoping the other family would like me enough to let me marry their son. My parents were hoping to get a good dowry for me." Sarah explained.

"Who is this man your parents were trying to marry you to?" I asked.

"I don’t know, I have never met him. I just know they are a merchant family. My family is a farmer family and my parents wanted me to marry into a family that would raise my station." Sarah said.

"So you are a farmer?" I asked.

"No, my parents were farmers. They wouldn’t let me unlock a class because they didn’t want to lower my value. An unclassed woman who could unlock the class of her husband would bring a higher dowry than a woman who already has a lower class than the family she is marrying into." Sarah said.

"What will you do now that your parents have been murdered? Do you have other family out there?" I asked.

"No, they were the only family I had. I don’t know what I will do now." She answered.

"How much was this dowry your parents were trying to get for you?" I asked.

"They were hoping to get a gold coin for the dowry." She answered.

I focused on my storage ring and checked the contents and counted the coins I got from the orc’s hoard. I counted nine gold coins.

"Is a gold coin a lot?" I asked.

"Oh, for many it is a fortune but for others it’s nothing. Most peasants have never even touched a real gold coin." Replied Sarah.

"Can you explain the coins to me?" I asked.

"Oh yes. Bronze coins have the lowest value. One hundred bronze coins are equal to one silver coin, and one hundred silver coins are equal to one gold coin." She answered.

"How many coins does a person need to earn to make a living?" I asked.

"In the city manual laborers are generally paid about thirty bronze per day after working a full day, which is normally ten to twelve hours a day." She answered.

I checked my ring again and counted the rest of my coins. Nine gold, forty seven silver, and one hundred thirty-seven bronze.

"What else can you tell me about this land? How about the power structure, like who rules this land? I asked.

"Oh, we are in the human kingdom. We are on one of nine continents. This is the second largest continent." She then began drawing a picture in the dirt with her finger as she explained.

"So if you divide it into thirds like this, the northern third is the elvin kingdom Viridia. The middle third is the human kingdom Aethelgard. Now, the southern third is divided into the beast-kin territories. The western half is the Canine Confederation. There they have the wolf-kin, the dog-kin, and the fox-kin. The eastern half is the Feline Alliance. There they have the lion-kin, the tiger-kin, and the cat-kin. I don’t know much more about the beast-kin lands, sorry. The continent is called Verdanis. That is about all I know, peasants don’t get the greatest education like the noble children do." Sarah said.

"No thank you, that is a lot more information than I already had. I didn’t know any of this. If you had to guess, where would you say we are in the human kingdom?" I asked.

"We are definitely in the western forest. It covers the western end of the human kingdom and the entire forest is about fifteen percent of the kingdom’s land. People tend to avoid the forest because of all the monsters in it like goblins, orcs, ogres, trolls and goddess knows what else." She said.

"Goddess? This world has a goddess?" I asked.

"Yes, the Goddess. The Holy mother. She is the Goddess of love, family, fertility, and of good fortune." Sarah answered with a smile.
