But since I am the only one I require women from other races." I said.
"So that’s why you agreed to sponsor our houses?" Mary asked.
"Yes. I figured since you and the other sisters agreed to become mine it would be a fair trade. I financially support the children of your houses while the sisters of the houses give me my own children." I said.
Mary just stared at me for a full minute.
"What if the lords find out about your race?" She asked.
"Hopefully by then my children will be able to defend themselves in the forest while we build our clan out there. We still don’t know if they will grow fast like the green goblins or slow like human children. Or if those with human mothers will grow at a different rate than those with beast-kin or elven mothers." I said.
"I hope the goddess protects you and your children." She said.
"And their mothers." I added.
"So what have you learned about your race so far?" She asked.
"Let’s see. Five women are pregnant so far. Each pregnancy appears to take forty weeks. Despite the women being humans and beast-kin they all have four children. Two of them are carrying girls. That’s about it so far. We will learn more as the rest of the sisters get pregnant." I said.
I released Lilly and turned to face Mary.
"And once your house is rebuilt and the beds are delivered the capacity will be doubled so the church will give our house four more sisters. Then I will have twenty-two women to give me children. If every pregnancy takes forty week and results in four children then I can have eighty-eight children every year." I said.
"Every year? You plan on getting us pregnant every year?" Mary asked.
"Yes. For as long as I am the sponsor of your house. That is the trade as I see it. For every year I support your house the sisters all provide me with children of my own. Do you think that is a fair trade?" I asked.
"Yes, that seems pretty fair I guess. But what will you do when we become too old to give you children? Will you ask the church to replace us?" She asked.
"Of course not. That would be a terrible thing to do. You are my women now. I will take care of you for as long as I possibly can. And I would never separate any of you from our children." I said.
We left the attic and went downstairs. I heard the children running to the house so I put my helmet on just as the first boys ran through the door.
"Mister Red is back!" The first boy shouted to everyone behind him.
The children ran past me and surrounded my wives. Asking questions about the forest and goblins and orcs. Lucy began using her healer class to make sure all the scrapes and bruises were taken care of.
"These boys are borderline reckless with their roughhousing." She grumbled as she healed a particularly bad scraped knee.
"Then they’re lucky to have a healer living in the house." Lyra said.
The oldest girl who I had spoken to at the pastry shop approached me.
"Mister Red. I have decided I wanted to become an archer instead of a jeweler. With the training you have paid for I think I can be a pretty successful adventurer. One day I hope to sponsor an orphanage like you." She said as she hugged me.
I hugged her back and patted her head.
"That would be fantastic. There are hundreds of orphanages in this kingdom that need sponsors. Any of them would be lucky to have you as a sponsor." I said.
I released the hug and she walked away. After all the children finished putting their things away some of the sisters took the older kids to the training grounds.
"These children are getting a better start than many of the other children in this city. Many parents cannot afford to send their children to the training grounds three times a week." Lilly said.
I went upstairs to the attic to check the contents of the safe. In the eight days I was gone the sisters spent a decent amount of the silver and bronze coins on taking the children to the training grounds and the bathhouse and for buying food. They haven’t touched the gold coins yet. I closed and locked the safe. Then I left the house with Nyx and Mary.
"Where are we going?" Nyx asked.
"I need more dwarves." I said.
After arriving at the slave market I went into a slave house and bought three more dwarves for ten gold each. Then I took them to a shop and bought them each three outfits and a pair of boots for a total of four silver fifteen. Then I took them home and showed them the two rooms for the dwarves and the three empty beds.
"You are prohibited from telling anyone what I am." I said.
Their collars glowed in acknowledgement. Then I took them to the kitchen and introduced them to Rollo and left them with him. I then returned to the attic where I found Lisa.
"Are you ready for your turn in three days?" I asked her.
I removed my armor as she blushed from my question.
"Yes mister Red. I’m ready." She replied.
"Good. Since I am sponsoring two orphanages now I will be splitting my time between the two so you will be going with me." I said.
"Okay." She said.
She turned to leave the attic.
"Lisa, if you go downstairs can you send Lucy up here?" I asked.
"Yes sir." She replied and left.
Five minutes later Lucy came in.
"Lisa said you wanted me." She said as she walked in.
"Yes. Nyx’s turn is nearly over. I would like you to check and see if she is pregnant yet." I said.
Nyx looked between me and Lucy when she heard what I said.
