Kael suddenly had a lot of questions. Seraphina’s sudden action left him wondering if she was still under someone’s control or if this was a decision she made on her own.
But one look at her clear eyes gave Kael the answer, and he let out a sigh.
"Alright. If you want to stay back, then I won’t stop you. Just...make sure to take care of yourself. Send me a message if you ever need help."
Seraphina looked sad, and it seemed like she would take a step toward him at any second.
But in the end, she never stepped toward him, and Kael headed out of the temple’s bounds to teleport back.
Kael did not agree with Seraphina’s decision to stay at the temple, but he was not going to discourage her if she had made this decision herself.
Being back home made many of Kael’s worries melt away, and he wanted to head to his room to relax. However, before he could do that, he sensed something brushing against his barrier.
It felt like a messenger bird, and he let it inside his barrier.
The small bird landed on his outstretched hand before it fluttered into a letter addressed to him. The sender was Ken Russle, the Sword Master.
[Grand Master Kael,
This is a formal letter from the Holy Knight’s Commander, Ken Russle, requesting the Hero’s aid against monsters.
Please respond as soon as you can so that the first list can be drafted.

Commander of the Second Holy Platoon
Ken Russle.]
The formal letter was not Ken’s style, so his secretary must have drafted it. This letter was late, considering that Kael had asked Ken to help train Leon a few weeks before.
But since a formal letter had been sent, it was obvious what was taking so long.
’I doubt it was Ken’s intention to make the situation so formal. That means that the Council or another branch of the temple decided to get involved. It does not feel safe for me to send Leon to the front lines under such conditions.’
Kael wanted to head back to his room and rest, but this sudden situation made him forget that idea.
Instead, it was time for him to draft a reply to this letter.
He was about to burn the invitation when he sensed a different kind of magic on the back of the letter, and he turned it around.
After a little more digging, he found something he had almost missed due to his frustration.
"Did Ken leave me some words on the back of this letter? For him to resort to this..."
The situation seemed to be bad if Ken had to send his letter like that.
Kael pushed his magic into the letter, and words started to appear.
[Kael,
I am writing like this to you because I am currently being watched. But I know you will see this if I send it on the back. I don’t have much space, so let me tell you what is going on.
The Council and the temple are going to pressure the Hero to join the monster subjugation, and they are counting on you to refuse. Once you do, they will suggest alternatives until you are forced to agree.
Frankly, I don’t see these people succeeding against you, but they seem quite confident this time.

Now this...was definitely Ken. This style of secret letter sending was something that was only taught at their orphanage, along with other arts.
But his request was...questionable.
Kael trusted Ken, but he was not sure if his trust was enough of a reason for him to send Leon to the front lines.
He folded the letter, but he did not burn it.
Since this was related to Leon, he wanted Leon to see it and make a decision himself.
So he took the letter to Leon and handed it to him.
It took Leon a whole minute to read it before he pushed the paper back, and Iris took it. They both looked serious after reading the letter.
"So, what do you want to do? Frankly, I don’t feel comfortable sending you both out to fight. But the ultimate decision is up to you."
Both Iris and Leon looked at each other before they made a decision.
"It’s fine. I want to go out and join the fight. Ken Russle was strong when I faced him, and I have a feeling I will be able to develop my skills if I go out there. Iris can also benefit from fighting against the monsters."
Leon pointed out, and Iris looked just as shocked as Kael was by his words before she nodded.
It...still did not feel right to have them both go out to the battlefield, but could he stop them if they wanted to go?
Sigh
"Alright, you can both head out. I will send Ken a reply regarding this."
Kael agreed and went to sleep.
After a few more letters back and forth, they confirmed the date Leon and Iris would leave, and it was a few calm days before they actually did.
The large house suddenly felt much quieter than before, but it did not feel as lonely as Kael expected.
It was almost like he had just exited a huge sleepover and finally had some space to himself. So, to occupy the time, Kael decided to finish some experiments.
Meanwhile, the hired help he had called in would gather information for him and keep an eye on the Council and the temple.
At least, that was the plan before he found someone knocking at the door of his home. Had he known what kind of trouble he would get into, he would have never opened his door.
But since he was unaware, he opened it and welcomed the other person inside.
