Raising Yanderes to save the world

Chapter 234: Ch 233: The Aftermath

Lyra looked flushed by Kael’s praise, and she quickly turned toward her army to give them instructions about what to do next.

"You all heard Kael. Bring these elves back to their homes and be a little gentle with them when you do. I’ll be counting on all of you."

At Lyra’s words, her people grabbed more elves and carried them away. Elena’s arts helped as well, and even more people were rescued. The atmosphere finally began to settle, but not everyone was satisfied with the outcome.

In fact, Leon looked pissed off, and he walked over to Adrian before punching the elder in the gut with incredible strength.

Most people would not have survived such an attack, but Adrian did not even flinch.

"Don’t use us for your own gain next time. And if you’re planning something, inform us beforehand."

Leon was not yelling yet, but it was a close thing. Adrian simply nodded, which was another surprise Kael had not expected.

’Perhaps Adrian and Leon will get along better than I expected. I have a feeling things are about to get dangerous if I leave the two of them together for too long.’

They were both crazy bastards, and Kael did not want them to start influencing each other.

"Anyway, we need to plant the new elf tree now and then spread the news about what happened. Most of the elves will need to visit the new elf tree to be purified, and the sooner we can stabilize it, the better."

The area and the soil had already been purified by Kael and Seraphina’s powers. Now it was time for Leon to plant the new seed and help it grow.

Leon took the seed from Seraphina’s trembling hands, and she shot him a glare before letting go of it. She collapsed as soon as the seed left her grasp, all of her strength leaving her body.

"Seraphina, are you alright?"

Kael asked as he walked over to support her.

"I’m fine. But I don’t think I have any strength left in my legs. Sorry, I’d like to rest against you for a while..."

Seraphina whispered before closing her eyes and falling asleep. Kael wanted to keep supporting her, but he was too exhausted to remain standing himself.

Lyra immediately stepped in to help. She caught Kael while handing Seraphina over to Elena.

"We’ll take you back to one of the guest villas here. That should help you recover. Leon, you can let Big Brother Adrian carry you—"

"No thanks. I’m sure I can walk just fine."

Leon insisted, and Lyra shrugged before they made their way to the guest villa.

Since most of the elves had collapsed, there was no one left to look after the place, and Kael did not have enough energy to oversee everything himself.

"It seems like we still have a lot of work left to do. What should we do about the elves? We’ll need to keep an eye on them. Adrian—"

"Don’t worry about it. I’ll take care of things here."

His elder brother promised, and Kael almost asked how he planned to manage it before remembering that Adrian was a duke. If anyone had the resources to look after everyone here, it would be him.

"Alright, I’ll leave it to you. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision."

Kael handed command over to his brother before letting out a sigh and closing his eyes. Just like that, he fell asleep.

...

There was a mountain of things to do once Kael woke up.

The temple had already heard about what had happened and had placed the matter under divine protection under Seraphina’s authority.

Kael had asked her to do this so that the elves would not be discriminated against for something they could not control.

Moreover, news of a pilgrimage to the elves had already been announced, making their settlement a destination for people across the world.

The next thing to take care of was the logistics of the territory, but Adrian was handling that.

Since he and Kana had never officially broken off their engagement, he was still her fiancé and could act on her behalf without being questioned.

Many people still suspected something was going on, but no one was brave enough to step forward and make an accusation.

But the most important thing Kael needed to take care of was something else—it was the new elf tree that had finally started to grow.

Leon and Seraphina had been taking care of it, but Kael also spent a few hours feeding it divine energy.

It was growing quickly, and soon it would no longer need them to nourish it with their power. It was a reassuring yet bittersweet thought.

"I cannot sense even a trace of corruption in the elf tree. It should be fine this time around. But I’ll still station a few people here to keep an eye on it."

Seraphina promised as she stood up from where she had been feeding the divine tree. She looked like a divine maiden as she gazed down at the small sapling with gentle eyes.

Even Kael had to admit that she felt like a grown woman now...even though she still had two years before reaching adulthood.

He could not help but walk over and ruffle her hair.

"It seems like you really grew up while I was away. You did a good job taking care of yourself."

Kael told her, and Seraphina looked up at him with flushed cheeks and an annoyed expression.

"Of course I grew up! You were gone for two years. There’s no need to treat me like a child anymore."

Seraphina insisted, but Kael just chuckled. He knew Seraphina had matured, yet he could not help but see her as the same little girl he had always looked after...

No, perhaps she was no longer a child. The air of maturity surrounding her was a welcome change.

She had truly grown up well and Kael felt a sense of regret and joy at the same time.
