Rebirth: Beasts Bound

Chapter 114: RAVEN, DID YOU JUST GET CHEATED ON, AGAIN?

My eyes darkened, seeing the way she stared at Ryker, so I pulled him closer, and she looked away.

"Let them stay, don’t trouble them," she said, and the entire tribe went silent.

But then a man groaned. "But he killed a master!" he yelled and turned to glare at Ryker. "He should be punished," he demanded, and she took a heavy breath.

The Tribe Chief glared at the male. "Everyone dies in battle. Not everyone survives, so shut your lips," she said darkly and walked off.

No one dared argue after that, and then Liora pushed through the crowd as they began to scatter away.

"What happened?" she asked, taking hold of my hand, but my gaze was settled on the tribe chief’s back.

"Who is she?" Liora asked, and my lips parted absentmindedly.

"Ryker’s ex-master."

Her eyes widened in realization. "He has a master apart from you?" she asked, and my eyes darkened.

"Had, not has," I corrected, and she shut her lips and sighed, turning to stare at Ryker. She froze and immediately yanked my sleeve, her eyes signaling me to gaze at him, so I did.

My eyes dimmed as his gaze was still focused on her back. There was complete guilt, but was that longing I saw in his eyes?

"That doesn’t look normal, Raven," Liora said, and I looked away.

"It’s totally normal. He just feels guilty," I replied, trying to justify myself and silence my doubts.

Liora could only stare at me with pity and a sassy look on her face.

"You have competition," she whispered, and that didn’t settle right with me.

He doesn’t still love her, does he? I thought, gazing at him, but he didn’t notice, he was still lost in her.

Just then, the tribe chief stopped in her tracks and turned backward. Her eyes clashed with Ryker’s, and a small smile curved on her lips. I seemed to have noticed, but pretended not to see.

"Don’t worry. If he betrays you, we will bury him alive," Veyra’s warm voice whispered in my ears, and I couldn’t help but giggle at his words and bite down on my bottom lip.

Just then, a female dressed in orange fox skin walked toward us.

"I’m an innkeeper. Follow me, I will get you a place to stay."

I stared at her cautiously, but Ryker finally moved. "Don’t worry, they wouldn’t harm us," he said, and a smile curved on his lips.

Why was he smiling? I had a bad feeling about this.

"O-okay," I replied, and then Veyra’s hands landed on my shoulder.

"You look tired. Let’s go," he said, pushing me forward, but I couldn’t help but look over my shoulder, staring at Ryker and then at the others.

Once we arrived, the inn was spacious. "How many rooms?" I asked, and the innkeeper turned to me.

"Two rooms. They aren’t that big, so I’m not sure they would fit you and your... beast-men," she said, and I nodded.

I paid in coins, she didn’t add anything and walked off that second.

"Let’s settle in, guys," I said, and everyone walked in.

Liora and her eagle beast-man left separately to the other room, while I went to the larger room.

"This seems okay, right?" I asked, and Thyrian nodded.

I walked in, and they followed after me, but there was only one bed.

"We will sleep on the ground," Azrael said and pointed at the bed. "You stay on the bed. Your soft body wouldn’t be able to handle the harsh ground," he said, but I pouted.

"But—"

"No buts," Azrael said, walked closer, and touched my cheeks. "Your skin is too sensitive. We don’t want you getting hurt," he said, and I revealed a gummy smile.

I felt his breath hitch. His eyes stared straight into mine, and I wrapped my hands around his waist.

"So, Azrael, do you have something to tell me... like you like me?" I asked, and he snorted at it and chuckled. He meant to pull away, but I tightened my hold.

"I should be there, not you," Veyra said and hugged me from behind, planting a soft kiss on my forehead.

"Azrael doesn’t seem to like it. Move aside, I will take your place," Thyrian said, but Azrael gave him a cold look and didn’t budge.

Thyrian sighed and walked to the side, wrapping his arms around my shoulders.

"I’m Raven’s favorite," he announced, and this made me laugh.

"No, I’m her favorite," Veyra countered, and Azrael groaned.

"So, Master, who’s your favorite?" he asked, and my ears reddened.

Why were they all gazing at me like they would devour me?

"Let’s sleep," I said and immediately ran to the left, landing on my bed and shutting my eyes closed. "It’s so hot," I mumbled.

The light went off, and everyone went to the floor and lay down.

"Goodnight, Raven," Azrael said, and my eyes popped open.

"Goodnight, Master," Thyrian said softly, and Veyra chuckled.

"Goodnight."

"Goodnight, guys," I replied and shut my eyes, but I didn’t hear Ryker say anything.

Was he okay? I thought and wanted to stand up, but my body felt heavy. I couldn’t move, so I surrendered, finally falling asleep...

An hour later, all I could hear were the chirping of birds and the soft swooshing of the wind.

I tossed around, but then I felt a masculine hand around my waist! Wasn’t I on the bed? I thought and snapped my eyes open.

Huh?I was on the ground? I wiped my eyes and softly moved my three beast-men’s hands away.

I stood up and walked to the balcony to have some fresh air. I rested my hands on the railing...When I heard a twig snap, as I turned to gaze at it, my lashes drooped.

Ryker’s fingers were on the tribe chief’s cheeks! Something inside me snapped and died with a ding!

I suddenly felt like the oxygen had been cut off. I could just stare motionless, with fluttering lashes...

The look he had in his eyes, it was... beautiful! And a tear escaped unexpectedly from my eyes.

"Ooh, did you get cheated on?" Cat’s voice echoed.
