Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 336 - 323: Shooting Range, First Time with a GunBut Wu Yun’s bodyguards didn’t give it a second thought. After all, it wasn’t strange for a wealthy man like him to have some experience with shooting.
After Liu Dong briefly went over the range’s rules again, he had the instructors lead each person to their shooting lane.
Whether it was intentional or not, the instructor assigned to Wu Yun was a tall, athletic woman. To the average person, she was undoubtedly a very charming, sporty beauty.
"President Wu! Hello! I’m Yang Na, and I’ll be your instructor this afternoon!" Yang Na said with a smile, a peculiar glint in her eyes as she introduced herself.
"President Wu! Actually, I’m one of your fans on Weibo! I can’t believe I get to meet you today! I’m so lucky! You’re much more handsome in person than you are in your videos!"
Wu Yun smiled and nodded at Yang Na. "Thanks for the compliment. You’re very beautiful yourself."
After a bit of small talk, Yang Na’s smile vanished as she switched into professional mode.
She handed a pair of specialized shooting glasses to Wu Yun and put on a pair herself. "President Wu, what kind of gun would you like to start with?"
Wu Yun was loaded with Skills but had never actually fired a gun, so he said with some excitement, "Let’s start with pistols. One magazine of each model, I want to get a feel for them first."
Yang Na nodded slightly. "Alright! We’ll start with the ten-meter target, then."
As she spoke, she picked up a classic pistol Wu Yun had seen many times on television.
"The Huaxia Type 54, a 7.62-millimeter pistol. It’s a copy of the former Soviet Union’s TT-1930/1933 model. It was finalized in 1954 and is still issued to military units today."
"The Type 54 is also the most produced and widely issued pistol in our country."
"The Type 54 operates on a short-recoil principle with a swinging-link barrel lockup. It has a hammer safety and also features a slide lock that engages on an empty magazine."
While explaining, Yang Na expertly removed the pistol’s magazine. She then racked the slide a couple of times to confirm the chamber was empty before placing the gun on the table in front of Wu Yun.
"President Wu, would you like to load the magazine yourself, or should I do it for you?" Yang Na asked, retrieving a box of 7.62-millimeter pistol rounds.
"I’ll do it myself," Wu Yun said, eager to experience the fun of loading a magazine.
He took the magazine and the bullets from Yang Na and, with surprising proficiency, used his left thumb to press the rounds into the magazine one by one.
BANG BANG BANG BANG! A rapid succession of fifteen gunshots echoed across the open-air shooting range.
Wu Yun turned his head and saw Hawkeye in the next lane, holding a pistol at chest level with both hands, subconsciously scanning left and right.
"Whoa, this Huaxia Type 92 pistol is fucking awesome! The feel of it is right up there with a Glock or a Beretta!" Hawkeye boomed, placing the pistol on the table.
"Too bad this is just the nine-millimeter version. I wish I could try the 5.8-millimeter model," Hawkeye added, a little disappointed.
"Forget it. The 5.8-millimeter is only issued to the military and special units. You’ll rarely find a standard-issue 5.8-millimeter pistol on the civilian market," Wu Yun said, inserting the fully loaded magazine into the grip of the Type 54.
Yang Na watched with admiration as Wu Yun conversed with his bodyguard in fluent English.
Having been a poor student, she didn’t understand a single word.
Yang Na stood beside Wu Yun, hand partially covering her mouth, as he took a textbook-perfect shooting stance and aimed at the torso target ten meters away.
After a slight adjustment, Wu Yun began to fire.
BANG... BANG... BANG...
The rhythm was steady—not too fast, not too slow. Wu Yun quickly emptied the seven rounds in the magazine.
"Boss! Fucking... awesome! 69 points!" Hawkeye shouted in his less-than-fluent Huaxia dialect.
Wu Yun nodded, quite satisfied. Even though he possessed mastered Skills, this was his first time shooting, and he was far from unleashing their full potential.
Scoring 69 points was already an incredible feat.
Yang Na clapped, exclaiming in admiration, "President Wu, your shooting is amazing! You’re easily in the top three of all the members I’ve ever coached!"
This was no exaggeration. Many tourists who came here missed the target completely on their first try.
She didn’t know how long Wu Yun had been practicing, but to be honest, his score was better than some of the instructors’.
"Boss, want to try the Beretta or the Type 92? The nine-millimeter has a bit more kick!"
Hawkeye suggested it, but he abided by the range’s rules and didn’t touch the firearms himself.
Yang Na smiled and asked, "President Wu, would you like to give it a try?"
Just then, Wu Yun’s target was brought back on an electric track. A staff member replaced the paper on the torso target and sent it back out to the ten-meter mark.
"Alright! I’ll take the Type 92 pistol!"
Hearing Hawkeye’s excited shout and seeing that Wu Yun was about to shoot again, Da Xiong and the other bodyguards put down their own guns and gathered around.
Gripping the Type 92, Wu Yun could feel how much more comfortable it was. It was clearly designed to fit the hands of his countrymen perfectly.
Wu Yun brought the pistol up with both hands, arms naturally extended. In one fluid motion—shoulders hunched, chest drawn in—he pulled the trigger.
BANG!
"Nice! 10-ring!" Hawkeye called out, acting as the spotter and peering at the target through binoculars.
BANG!
"10-ring!"
...
And so, Hawkeye became a machine, mechanically calling out "10-ring" fifteen times in a row.
Everyone looked at the center of the torso target, which was nearly torn to shreds, and burst into applause.
Hawkeye and the others knew their own teammates’ capabilities inside and out, which only made them more curious about Wu Yun.
"Boss! Want to try the 25-meter target?" Hawkeye was thrilled. He admired his boss from the bottom of his heart. Rich, and a hell of a fighter! Honestly, in Huaxia, as long as he wasn’t ganged up on or facing armed assailants, Wu Yun would rarely be in any mortal danger.
"Alright! Switch to the 25-meter target!" Wu Yun’s interest was thoroughly piqued.
After getting permission from the range officer, Da Xiong ran over to Wu Yun’s side to help him load magazines.
Da Xiong worked quickly, filling two magazines in no time.
By then, the 25-meter target was also ready.
He slapped in a full magazine, and with a sharp CLICK!, the slide released and chambered a round.
Another series of gunshots rang out. This time, however, Hawkeye’s calls were mostly "8-ring" and "9-ring," with only an occasional "10-ring."
Even so, the crowd was still thoroughly amazed.
Caviar said to Wei Wu, who was standing beside him, "The boss’s marksmanship is on par with many professional soldiers!"
Wei Wu nodded in agreement. "Definitely. You can’t get to this level without firing a massive number of rounds. Unless you’re just a natural talent."
Wu Yun was having a blast. With everyone watching, he tried several different pistol models, shooting at both 25 and 50 meters.
Fifty meters was near the maximum effective range for a pistol, and Wu Yun even started to miss the target entirely.
After a few rounds, even with his strong physique, Wu Yun could feel his forearms and deltoids starting to ache.
"Time for a break." It was, after all, his first time shooting, and he hadn’t paced his energy expenditure well. Wu Yun shook out his hands, trying to relieve the ache in his forearms.
"I want to try the rifles," Wu Yun said to Yang Na, who was standing nearby.
Yang Na immediately signaled for the staff to clear the pistols from the table. A Type 56 carbine, a Type 56 assault rifle, and a Type 81 rifle were placed before him.
"Da Xiong! Load the magazines for me!" Wu Yun said, wanting to use the opportunity to rest his arms. He directed his order to the eager-looking Da Xiong.
Since he had booked the entire range for the day, Wu Yun had no reservations about instructing the staff, "Set these lanes to 25, 50, and 100 meters."
After another flurry of activity from the staff, Wu Yun began his live-fire practice with the rifles.
The Type 56 carbine lived up to its reputation as a highly accurate rifle. Even today, it’s still used by designated marksmen in many countries.
Thanks to his brilliant performance with the pistols earlier, no one was surprised when Wu Yun achieved perfect scores with the Type 56 carbine at 25 and 50 meters.
At 100 meters, he was consistently hitting the 9- and 10-rings. To achieve that kind of accuracy with iron sights was already far better than the average soldier.
"Switch to the Type 56 assault rifle!" In truth, the gun Wu Yun most wanted to try was the close cousin of the most famous firearm in the world.
He still had a "Thug" loadout he hadn’t retrieved from his system inventory, but pulling out actual AK-47s in Huaxia was a death wish.
So, Wu Yun poured all his enthusiasm into the Type 56 assault rifle. He gripped the pistol grip, tucked the stock under his arm, and pointed the muzzle skyward.
After slapping the magazine in, Wu Yun reached his left hand under the receiver and performed the classic "gangster" charging handle rack.
