Rebirth: I have Monopoly System

Chapter 337 - 324: Da Xiong’s Challenge

The sight of Wu Yun working the bolt drew knowing smiles from everyone.

After a few rounds, the ground at Wu Yun’s feet was littered with shell casings. He handed his rifle to Yang Na and took off his noise-canceling earmuffs. "That’s enough for me today!" he said. "I’ll be back for more next time!"

Then, he turned to the bodyguards watching and said, "It’s still early. You guys have fun."

Hearing Wu Yun’s words, Da Xiong immediately grinned and challenged Hawkeye, "Hawkeye! Let’s have a match! Same old stakes! Loser washes the socks!"

Hawkeye immediately shook his head. "No way! I know I’d lose! Why would I set myself up for that? If you’ve got the guts, go challenge Cao Cao!"

Da Xiong’s expression was conflicted. His and Wei Wu’s shooting skills were more or less on par, but he only had an edge over Wei Wu with machine guns. When it came to assault rifles, he lost more often than he won.

’Damn it, fortune favors the bold! Let’s do this!’ Da Xiong steeled himself and turned to Wei Wu. "Cao Cao! Let’s have a match today! Loser buys dinner!"

The money was a small matter; this was about pride.

A smile touched the corners of Wei Wu’s mouth. "Name your terms. How do you want to compete?"

Da Xiong laughed heartily. "150-meter target, ten rounds! We’ll compete on score. If the scores are tied, we’ll go by time!"

"Deal! Looks like you’re determined to buy me dinner!"

Hearing that there was going to be a competition, the range staff and instructors all looked excited.

It was obvious these men were bodyguards. Their boss himself was incredibly skilled, so if they, as bodyguards, were worse than him, they’d have no face to show.

So, most people felt this was going to be a duel between masters.

Wu Yun took the tea Wang Hao handed him and took a sip with a smile. He glanced at the staff bustling to prepare the range and at the two men loading their magazines.

Wu Yun asked Wang Hao, "Is the restaurant for dinner sorted out?"

"All set! It’s near the film crew’s set. I’ve already contacted Director Li and their location manager and sent them the coordinates." As Wang Hao spoke, his eyes kept darting toward the shooting range.

Few men don’t love guns, especially in Huaxia. Just getting the chance to handle one was a fantastic opportunity.

Wu Yun saw the longing in Wang Hao’s eyes and said with a smile, "Go on, you go have some fun too. There’s nothing else scheduled for this afternoon anyway."

"Okay! Thank you, President Wu!" Wang Hao said, running excitedly toward the range.

"Together, or do you want to go first?" Wei Wu asked confidently.

Da Xiong glanced at Yang Na and another female instructor holding stopwatches, then said with mock fierceness, "Together! Let’s see who’s faster and more accurate!"

"Suit yourself!" The words had barely left his mouth when the crisp sound of Wei Wu chambering a round in his Type 56 echoed out.

"Shooters to the line!" came Hawkeye’s voice from the side.

Wei Wu and Da Xiong stood at adjacent shooting stations, one on the left and one on the right.

"Fire!"

At Hawkeye’s command, gunshots erupted from both sides almost simultaneously.

As if by silent agreement, both men opted for rapid single-shot firing.

BANG! BANG! BANG! The gunshots were continuous.

The powerful recoil of the Type 56 seemed to have vanished against their bodies; even with the rapid firing, neither man’s frame showed the slightest waver.

As the tenth bullet left Wei Wu’s rifle, he, with the advantage of a single shot’s speed, was the first to place his weapon on the table.

"6.01 seconds!"

"6.36 seconds!"

Yang Na and the other female instructor called out the times from their stopwatches one after the other.

Da Xiong, not having caught what they said, walked closer to look at the times, and his face fell.

He wasn’t completely dejected, though. After all, the scores hadn’t been announced yet.

Da Xiong shot a glare at the perfectly calm Wei Wu. "Don’t get cocky! I bet my score is two rings higher than yours!"

Soon, the targets were retrieved.

With everyone watching, Hawkeye pulled the two men together, stood between them, and grasped both of their wrists.

He boomed like an announcer at a fighting match, "Reddish! My decision is final! I declare the results! In the blue corner, Da Xiong—90 rings!"

"In the red corner, Cao Cao! 92 rings!"

"The red corner is the winner!" Hawkeye raised Wei Wu’s left hand, declaring the end of the match.

The onlookers generously applauded.

Da Xiong scratched his head in resignation but still conceded defeat. "Cao Cao! Dinner’s on me! I swear I’ll win it back next time!"

"I’ll be ready whenever you are!" Wei Wu’s smile never wavered. Da Xiong had provided him with plenty of "benefits" like this before, whether in fighting or shooting.

With the match between Wei Wu and Da Xiong as a catalyst, the entire shooting range soon filled with the continuous sound of gunfire.

The range manager watched the endless rain of shell casings, a grin plastered on his face. ’These guys are big spenders! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anyone burn through ammo like this.’

Just as everyone was having the time of their lives, a clamor erupted from the entrance.

"Believe it or not, I’m going to file a complaint against you for customer fraud!" A shrill female voice cut through the air, clear even over the unending sound of gunfire.

The instructors immediately stopped their clients from shooting, took their guns, and quickly ejected the rounds from the chambers before swiftly collecting the magazines and loose ammunition.

The bodyguards, who had taken off their earmuffs, all heard the argument at the entrance. They quickly gathered around Wu Yun, forming a protective circle.

At that moment, a woman in a tracksuit with her hair in a ponytail barged in, ignoring all attempts to stop her. She had three men and two women with her.

"Are you the owner of this shooting range?" As she got closer, Wu Yun got a good look at her face. She had an aquiline nose and thin lips. While her looks were passable, she gave off a sharp, mean-spirited vibe.

"Ma’am! Is there something I can help you with?" Liu Dong asked with a smile.

"What is wrong with you people! We made a reservation days in advance! We planned our whole day to come here and play! And your employee stops us, saying you’re not open to the public today!"

As she spoke, the woman shot a sidelong glance at a few of the bodyguards who looked foreign. "There are gunshots everywhere, and you’re telling me you’re not open for business! What, are you just sucking up to foreigners? Kissing their asses?"

Because Wu Yun was in the center of the crowd of bodyguards, the woman hadn’t noticed him.

"I just went and looked at the archery range! There’s no one there! Why won’t you let us in? We have a reservation! You’re in breach of contract, and I have the right to demand compensation!"

Right off the bat, she didn’t even bother asking for a refund, jumping straight to demanding compensation.

Hearing this, Liu Dong’s expression remained unchanged. "Ma’am, I do apologize for today. A client booked the entire venue. It was indeed our mistake for not notifying you in advance!"

’But Liu Dong was puzzled. Mr. Wu had booked the whole venue a few days ago. He remembered having his staff notify every guest with group-buy vouchers and phone reservations that they would not be open to the public this afternoon!’

"Ma’am! How about this? Mr. Wu and his party are leaving at 5:30. You can have the place to yourselves after they leave, and your time today will be on me! You can use the archery range as much as you want, and you can do some shooting, too! The only thing is, there’s a 10-round limit per person. No matter which gun you use, ten rounds total."

"As for the voucher you booked, you can use it to reschedule for another time. How does that sound?"
