Rebirth: I have Monopoly System
Chapter 339 - 326: The Great New Year’s PurchaseOn the drive home, Qi Fei finally dropped her act and asked viciously, "Xiaoyunzi! Don’t tell me you have a thing for Hu Ge! How could you give him two lead roles just like that!"
A chill shot through Wu Yun, and he couldn’t help but shudder at the implication. "Qi Fei! What kind of person do you take me for? I’m only interested in women."
Qi Fei feigned ignorance. "Oh! I’ve just been hearing that a lot of rich businessmen are interested in male stars these days. I thought maybe you had... ideas about him!"
As she spoke, Qi Fei couldn’t hold back her laughter.
"I don’t care! Anyway, if you don’t arrange a leading lady role for me by then, you’re so dead!"
Wu Yun slung an arm around Qi Fei’s shoulders. "You got it! I’ll be sure to set you up as the female villain!"
Qi Fei’s delicate brow furrowed as she pushed Wu Yun away. "Don’t even think about getting into bed tonight until you’ve washed that smell off you!"
...
「The next day.」
It was Qi Fei’s first time on a private jet, and she sized up the interior with great curiosity. Though she rarely took selfies, she pulled Wu Yun over to take a couple of shots together.
"You said this one trip costs a hundred thousand? It’s that expensive?" Qi Fei asked in disbelief. ’This is just burning money!’
Wu Yun chuckled. "It’s actually a pretty good deal when you break it down. Even if we flew commercial, booking out business class would cost tens of thousands. I’d rather just charter a private plane. Getting better service is a nice bonus, isn’t it?"
Just then, a flight attendant pushed a service cart over. After handing them the drinks they had ordered, she turned and walked away.
Qi Fei watched the posturing flight attendant, her brow furrowing slightly. "Your charms are really something, Xiaoyunzi. No matter where you go, someone’s always looking for a shortcut."
"Can’t help it if I’m this handsome!" Wu Yun said smugly, lifting his chin.
"Tch." Qi Fei didn’t pay the little incident any mind. Instead, her interest piqued by the jet Wu Yun had bought, she changed the subject. "Xiaoyunzi, you said you’re getting your own private jet next month!?"
"That’s right. A big reason for my trip to the United States after the New Year is to go accept it in person." It would be Wu Yun’s first time traveling abroad, and he was definitely curious to experience just how free the "Free United States" really was.
Wu Yun already had a few tentative plans in mind for his trip to the United States.
"I really wish I could go to the United States and have some fun with you!" Qi Fei said, a wistful look on her face. ’Going on a trip with the man I love would be so wonderful.’
A smile touched Wu Yun’s lips as he joked, "If you want to go, you can! I’ll just have a word with the film crew. We can shoot your scenes after we get back from our vacation!"
"No! If you did that and word got out, no film crew would dare hire me! That’s pulling rank on a level that even I’d find disgusting." Qi Fei shuddered, imagining the scene of being blacklisted by the entire industry for being a diva.
Wu Yun smiled. "Tell you what, once you’ve wrapped this movie, I’ll take you on a trip to Europe or Dubai! How’s that?"
Qi Fei’s face instantly lit up. Propping her chin in her hands, she gazed at Wu Yun’s face with dreamy anticipation. "Okay! It’s a deal!"
"Oh, right! Xiaoyunzi! Are we going straight to my parents’ house tonight?" Qi Fei asked tentatively.
Wu Yun quickly shook his head. "Let’s not. I haven’t prepared anything. It wouldn’t be right to show up empty-handed, especially over the New Year."
"How about I have someone take you home first tonight?"
Qi Fei snorted softly. "Hmph! Do you have other plans tonight or something? Why are you in such a rush to send me away?"
Wu Yun grinned shamelessly. "How could that be! I just don’t want your parents to think I’ve stolen you away! It’s not like we’re married yet!"
A slight blush crept onto Qi Fei’s cheeks. "Never mind them. I’ll call them after we land."
That’s what she said, but Qi Fei already knew exactly how her mom would react.
After getting into Wu Yun’s private car, Qi Fei dialed her mom.
Sure enough, when her mother heard that Qi Fei wouldn’t be home tonight and would instead be returning with Wu Yun tomorrow, Liu Yan’s voice, though gentle, was laced with the feeling of having her precious daughter stolen away. "Oh, Feifei! Your father and I made a special New Year’s Eve dinner, waiting for you to eat with us... Sigh... Well, since you’re not coming back tonight, I suppose we’ll just eat something simple!"
"A girl has to be careful when she’s out by herself! And remember to bring Wu Yun to celebrate the New Year in Jingyang tomorrow! Your grandma has already mentioned several times that she wants to meet her future grandson-in-law!"
Blushing, Qi Fei whined, "Oh, Mom! What do you mean, ’be careful’? Wu Yun has several bodyguards! We’ll be perfectly safe."
Liu Yan’s coughing came through the phone. "AHEM! I mean that the two of you need to be safe *together*! Don’t go creating any new lives, you hear!"
It took a moment for her mother’s meaning to sink in. "I know, I know! Don’t worry! I promise I’ll bring Wu Yun home tomorrow!"
As she spoke, Qi Fei shot a look at Wu Yun, who was sitting beside her and clearly eavesdropping. After a few more sentences, she hung up the phone.
"You didn’t hear a thing!" Qi Fei said, her face flushed as she grabbed Wu Yun’s hand.
"Right, right, right! I didn’t hear a thing!" Wu Yun nodded emphatically.
"Oh, right! How many sets of relatives do you have? We should go buy New Year’s gifts now!" As he spoke, Wu Yun glanced out the window at the lantern-draped streetlights and the festive flowerbeds they passed, which were decorated with slogans and figures for the Spring Festival.
Qi Fei ticked them off on her fingers. "Uhm... my paternal grandparents are one, then my dad’s older brother, his second brother, and my aunt’s family. That’s four households on my dad’s side!"
"On my mom’s side, there’s my maternal grandparents, two uncles, and a younger aunt! So that’s four more households!"
Watching Qi Fei tick off the names on her fingers, Wu Yun felt a pang of envy. He had grown up with just his grandparents; their other relatives had either lost touch due to distance or simply didn’t keep in contact. He’d never really experienced what it was like to go around visiting family.
